Cancer. That’s all it takes for Sophie to shut the door on the most important part of her life. After three years as Ben’s submissive, she says her safe word and returns his collar. But fate won’t let her face the fight alone. David steps into her life as her best friend and submissive.
Sophie may know how to use a flogger, but she’s not a Domme. She’s a sub, too scared to give up control, and David knows it. Sophie still aches to submit and if David can’t give that to her, he’s brave enough to approach the one man who can help them both.
Benjamin. He’s never given up on his submissive, even when she pushed him away and began building a life without him. She’s not happy and he knows it, and this time he’s not going let her fear stand in his way. To tempt her back, Ben will partner with David to remind Sophie just what she’s been missing.

Chelsea James always wanted to be a writer, but never got serious about it until a bossy, demanding muse stalked into her life and ordered her to tell his story. She stalled and made excuses, but in the end, threw sanity to the wind and dove headlong into her dream of sharing her words and stories with the world.

When not catering to her muse's whims, Chelsea has a full-time job catering to the whims of spoiled lawyers. And commuting, which is a job all its own. At home, she has a pampered princess of a cat who rules the roost, and a best friend/hetero lifemate who gets blamed for everything, but is still adored.

I really liked this book: emotionally intense characters with secrets that have the potential to blow their relationship apart.

The setup makes you think this is going to end badly. Trace looks like a stalker - but all he wants is for Riley to love him. Riley has been badly burned before and doesn't want to trust Trace - but he can't help himself. Two characters who can't possibly be meant for each other - right? Wrong!

I loved the way the author took me through the ups and downs, surprises around the corner and finally to the ending. I was able to feel for both characters and see exactly where they were coming from. This was one of those cases where both parties are totally right - but they are also completely wrong. I thought it was wonderful.

(Note: 2 stars is for my personal reference only)

I wasn't comfortable with Trace right from the start. Like Riley, I found him creepy and had difficulty going along with Riley's sudden turnaround. I skipped several pages and when it began to sag, I gave up. Again, will wait for reviews to see if anything happens later in the story to make me want to pick it up again. I doubt it, though. Guys like Trace come across too psycho for me and I can't help thinking his true colors are going to show after a couple of years. I'd find Riley's nude body stuffed inside a freezer in the basement.

Stalker. Psycho. What else...? <__<
Hated Riley from the first time he appeared (hate at first sight, you can call it). He was a real asshole through the entire book. I couldn't stand him and the book. And all the "darlin'" every freaking word, was annoying as well. =__=

Trace is a cowboy and Riley is a stripper. They meet while Riley is on the job and Trace falls in love, not lust but love. I’m not a fan of love at first sight stories. Trace is very insistent and finally Riley breaks down and they go out. They like being with each other, but Trace has a secret he’s keeping and Riley has grander dreams then being a stripper. So Trace is perusing the relationship and Riley is looking to pull away as soon as possible. That conflict boosted my enjoyment of the story. Once Riley fails once at his dream of dancing on public stage, not in strip club, he easily gives it up to live on a farm with Trace. I wish there had been a bit more to that.

The book was very good and I like it. But... and i have a lot of "buts".

It sure as hell made me confused because of my medical profession. I try to close my eyes everytime there are some details because most of them are always wrong. *blushes*

From the start I love Trace. But I couldn't understand why he was so secretive in his "own" mind (in his POV). I knew he has to be ill somehow. Everyone with half the brain would figured it out from the first clue. But why waiting so long to revealed it to readers??? ...it's just a minor thing. Really.

Nothing major and I would give it a 5 stars. BUT... there was Riley's reaction almost in the end. I am 13 years in medical field and I saw a lot. I believe in Riley's insecurities. I understand most of the time him being an as*hole to Trace because of them. But even with his insecurities I would never EVER believe some human being can react like this. Especially not when he is faced with the option his loved one may die. That was the part where i had to take off one star. I just couldn't believe it.

Acutally I liked the idea behind the story a lot. The secret Trace's is hiding from Riley has a lot of potential and can definitvely be a risk for a new relationship. However I had the feeling that the subject could have been a little more detailed in order to make the characters and their actions feel more realistic. The massive use of the word darlin' was quite annoying at times! All in all this story was an interessing read which could have been even better, if the story had been well paced and more detailed. The last chapter was written very well, keeping the suspense high until the end. 3 stars!

Fae Sutherland is one of my favorite authors..fell in love with her writing after reading A Tender Rough and Joshua's Muse.loved those books.!! anyway, this story was awesome I truly enjoyed every single page..I enjoyed the passionate connection between Trace and Riley. Trace was just so determined to have Riley in his life but not in a creepy way.Imagine someone seeing you and deciding that they were born to love you and set out to show you just that. That's a beautiful dream. Thanks Ms Sutherland, well done.
I have a few more Fae titles on my shelf..cant wait to read them now...aces...

I the idea was a bit better for me than the execution. It rang somewhat unlikely and it was difficult to be in the mood to read this. I did finish it, but it was a challenge. Mostly predictable and forgettable characters. Still, the heart was in the right place, and it had the potential to be very sweet. Just not for me.

Riley definitely gave in too quick, but overall, it's quite a romantic story. I personally love the "darling".

Great read.

The characters drew me in and I loved reading their journey. The secret when revealed is a bit of a surprise.
