The story of the Wounded Knee Massacre from the Sioux Indian point of view. Told by Joseph Black Hair; interpreted by William Bergen. 8.5" x 5.5" softcover with 131 pages. 2007 - 15th printing
In America we go out of our way to eulogize and memorialize the victims of mass killings, except if they are of American Indians. As old as this book is, one would think a better job might have been done at places like Wounded Knee that cry out to be recognized by our national consciousness.
This is a book about the Wounded Knee massacre told from the Sioux point of view. The book was written in 1940 and includes first hand accounts from survivors of the massacre.
This book was hard to read because of the subject matter and of course is sad. This was not a proud event in US history.
This was a very account of the Wounded Knee massacre. It is written from the viewpoint of the Sioux Indians. It also contained eye witness accounts of some of the Native Americans who survived the massacre. A very shameful event in our country's history.
