Who knew that falling in love could be so dangerous?
Nico
My reputation with women stinks. I’ll admit I haven’t always treated them with the respect they deserve. That’s not to say I’m a bad guy or anything. What my sisters and cousin would call toxic, I prefer to think of as selfish. But I’m ready to change everything if it means I’ll have a chance with the lovely, sweet, wounded Sofia Diaz—and her adorable son Mateo. They’ve been through a lot with her ex—and she’s still dealing with him far more often than I’d like—but I’m prepared to be there for them, to do whatever it takes to make them happy. If only she’ll stop listening to my family members who warn her off me and give me a chance to show her how it can be between us.
Sofia
Nico Giordino is the sexiest man on the planet, but from what his sisters and cousin tell me, I need to keep my distance. I’ve already had one serious relationship end in the most painful way possible. I don’t need to open myself to more heartache by letting a player into my life—and my son’s. Mateo is all that matters to me, and as he recovers from brain surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, I’ve got my hands full working at Nico’s family’s restaurant and taking care of my son while trying to finalize my divorce. I’ve got no time for romance or foolishness with a man who makes my heart beat fast. I want him more than I’ve ever wanted anything, even if I know I’d be better off without him.

5 Sterne
May 24, 2022 brings readers another marvelous addition to the Miami Nights Series -- and you're going to love all the goodies packed inside the covers, too. Nico Giordino and Sofia share a special chemistry and their story will steal your heart -- especially with the addition of her son, Mateo.
There's never a dull moment and the nights (and days, too) are sizzling hot! The whole Giordino family shows up with some surprises adding all those extra-special layers of excitement and barrels of fun. You won't want to miss it!
“How much I want” is my first book in the Miami nights series that I’ve read until now.
I had no difficulty to connect with the story and characters as it reads easily as a stand-alone novel.
Sophia tries to start a new life and job away from her abusing ex husband. She has a son and will do anything for him to be protected and loved. While she's working as a waitress for Giordano’s family, she meets one of family members, Nico.
Nico has his eyes set on her from the first moment they met. His reputation will precede his life, unfortunately, and make it more difficult to prove himself worthy of her attention.
But, as in any other case, their friendship and romance will bloom slowly. There are a few suspenseful scenes regarding her ex-husband that kept me on the spot while reading.
Overall, this was a quick, interesting romance that made me want to read more books by the author soon.
I absolutely love this series and this family. However this book I have to say is my least favorite and I was so looking forward to it. There were too many repeated phrases and themes. If Sofia apologized one more time I think I would have screamed. Also how many times are you going to plan to leave someone and how many times do we need to be reminded that Nick was toxic? I normally love Marie Force's books but I just don't think this was up to her normal standards.
HOW MUCH I WANT is the fourth instalment in Marie Force’s conteporary, adult MIAMI NIGHT focusing on the Giordino family. This is thirty-two year old, businessman Nico Giordino, and twenty-six year old, single mother and waitress Sofia Diaz’s story line. HOW MUCH I WANT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.
Told from seven first person perspectives including Nico and Sofia HOW MUCH I WANT follows the building romance and relationship between thirty-two year old, businessman Nico Giordino, and twenty-six year old, single mother and waitress Sofia Diaz. Sofia Diaz and her son Mateo left her abusive husband and started a new life in Miami, working for the Giordino family but Sofia’s soon to be ex-husband refuses to accept the end of their marriage, and seeks revenge against Sofia, and anyone who is willing to help including the Giordino family. Nico Giordino has lusted after Sofia from the first time they met but Nico’s reputation with the ladies threatens any potential happiness with our story line heroine in the wake of his family’s need to warn the woman with whom he is falling in love but when the threats against Sofia become dangerous and deadly, Nico becomes protector and body guard for the woman that calls to his heart. What ensues is the building but struggling relationship between Nico and Sofia, and the potential fall-out as Sofia battles between head heart, wanting her own independence, in the face of the fall-out of her current marriage, and Nico’s brother Milo is caught in the cross-fire of one man’s need to exact revenge.
Sofia Diaz doesn’t want to be a burden to Nico or the Giordino family but when the threats against Sofia become dangerous for the Giordino family, Sofia is willing to walk away to protect the family that calls her their own. Sofia’s mother is the bane of our heroine’s existence but a few well-placed social media inquiries reveals that her father is alive and hoping to meet. Nico Giordino owns a high-end car service company, and with the approach of the holiday season, Nico and the family are busier than ever but Nico is making time for the woman that has starred in his fantasies and dreams, the woman he is hoping to call his own. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters many of whom we have met in the previous story lines. We are introduced to Sofia’s five year old son Mateo, as well as the appearance of her ex-husband, his mother, and several extended members of the Diaz family. Milo and Gianna’s story line is next.
HOW MUCH I WANT is a story of family and relationships, betrayal and vengeance, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is captivating and heart warming; the romance is seductive; the characters are impassioned and charismatic.
The subtitle for this one could be “Everyone feels guilty for the bad behavior of others.” And we spend the majority of the book listening about that guilt. 🙄
Not my favorite of the series. It didn’t dislike it, and I’ll probably listen to the one I haven’t yet, but mostly I just felt this was a bunch of meh.
5 Star Review of How Much I Want (Miami Nights #4) by Marie Force How Much I Want is the fourth book in the Miami Nights series by Marie Force and is Nico Giordino and Sofia Diaz’s story and what a story it was. I know when I pick up a book by Marie Force that the story will have characters who you will be drawn to and a storyline that will quickly have you invested. Nico is a player and the very last type of man that single mother Sofia should be drawn to. Sofia is doing her best to leave behind an abusive husband whilst looking after her son who is recovering from a life threatening illness. She has so much happening that it has become overwhelming and she is so appreciative when the Giordino’s step in to help. I love the Giordino family and their willingness to help those who need it. Meeting Sofia makes Nico want to change his life and that was heartwarming. The banter between them was witty and I love how up in everyone's business each family member is. It is so realistic and you cannot help but relate to the story. How Much I want was an emotional read at times , well written with characters who you cannot help but fall for.
Nico doesn't have the best reputation with women, and he won't deny that, but at the end of the day, he's not too bad of a guy. Sofia is just doing her best to provide a decent life for her son while staying away from her horrible ex which is how she landed in Miami working for the Giordino family. However, that ex isn't taking things lying down so he's on the path of revenge against her and NO ONE will stand in his way. Nico is taken with Sofia from the jump, but his reputation isn't doing him any favors when it comes to having a shot with her, especially with his family warning her LOL. However the threats are escalating to deadly so he's going to protect her no matter what which may put them together a lot more, but there's still all the drama to them falling for each other. I'm telling you, this story captivated me from the jump which found me in the same position until every last page was finished as I couldn't get enough of the heat, suspense, and his family playing the perfect supporting cast so yeah, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Nico is a successful business who loves his family deeply, but he has quite a reputation when it comes to women. He is drawn to Sofia in a way he has never felt before however despite his family’s belief that he will never be able to commit to a woman he is about to prove to them that it was a matter of finding the right woman.
Sofia is trying to balance working at the restaurant that Nico’s family owns, helping her son Mateo heal and finalizing her divorce from her abusive ex so she doesn’t have the time or energy to pursue a relationship with Nico. As the danger from her past escalates, she is about to realize that the one person she can count on is the same person she has been trying to deny her feelings for.
When Nico loves he loves deeply and seeing him open his heart to Sofia and Mateo and being the man that he needs them to be is everything you could want and more.
How Much I Want returns readers to Miami and the Giordino family. As eldest Giordino Nico finally makes a play for Sofia Diaz whose life hasn't always been easy with an abusive ex who won't accept she's divorcing him and a son Mateo who's recovering from brain surgery.
And so, this is a story packed full of emotions, sweetness and heat. Not to mention family feels as we get to catch up with the rest of the family from the wonderful bickering matriarchs Nona and Abuela to Nico's younger siblings Marie, Dee and Milo.
Moreover it was extremely well paced, and full of character driven prose that was both heartwarming and captivating to read.
3.5 ⭐️ I think this was a case of the writing just not doing it for me and I’ve had that issue with all of Marie Force books. The stories are good but the dialogue just kills it. It’s hard to explain but she doesn’t use verbs or breaks in her dialogue. No “he breathes”, “she cries”, “he growls”, “she laughs”, “he says”, etc. Just looooooong pages of nothing but dialogue back and forth with no break. Sometimes I get halfway down the page and I can’t even tell who’s speaking anymore, I have to go back and count up to tell who’s turn it is to talk. It also makes it really hard to tell the emotion behind the dialogue - it’s like reading a text message that can be taken a lot of different ways. It also makes everything choppy and clipped, large chunks of the story are just volleyball sentences back and forth, back and forth. It doesn’t flow very well.
Sofia is fleeing an abusive marriage with her young son, Mateo, who is healing from brain cancer treatment. Her husband is not only abusive but still violent and part of a vindictive family. When Sofia is adopted into the Giordino family, she begins to fall for Nico, whose sisters and cousins warn her away from, stating he’s toxic and bad for women.
First off, I hate toxic men and playboys. I’m not out to “tame the manwhore”. BUT to Nico’s credit, he’s all in for her on the first page. His “toxic traits” never show up, he’s nothing but a good guy and sold on both her and her son. He briefly discusses his past and that he never wanted anything serious with anyone before her and that’s it. So I was thankful for that. He was probably the best part of the book, despite the fact that he cried half a dozen different times.
Sofia was just sort of annoying. She has mooned over Nico for months and the minute he tells her he’d like to be with her she immediately rejects him saying she doesn’t want a relationship. Ok, understandable given what you’ve been through. Then she immediately kisses and throws herself at him. Huh? In fact, he turns her down multiple times in the beginning because he knows she’s emotionally fragile and wants to do it right. All while taking a ton of crap from his family about his “playboy ways”.
Sofia also refuses intelligent options constantly. Her ex is SHOOTING people to get to her and kill her and take her son and when Nico wants her to stay with him in a safe place, she’s like “nah”. Man, if not you, do it for your SON ma’am. He deserves to be safe!
Lastly, the whole “Giordinos are the greatest family on earth” schtick gets really old. They talk about it CONSTANTLY, how lucky they are to be part of this family, how they’ll do anything for each other. That’s great, but it’s literally a plot point in every single chapter, it gets so cheesy. And through the book we’re given EIGHT different viewpoints, everything from the grandmother to siblings, etc. People I don’t know or care about and who don’t need to be taking up screen time in this short book.
Anyway, 3.5 ⭐️ and I’ll probably read the next one 🙄
Nico Giordino reputation precedes him. Simply put—he’s a player. His sisters and cousins describe him as toxic. Relationships are not his thing. I had a hard time envisioning Nico maintaining a relationship with Sofia. Marie Force has created a dynamic and fascinating character that at first I did not consider to be hero worthy. Nico’s love for his family, his love for Sofia and his need to protect Mateo won me over. I admired Sofia Diaz. Loved her strength and her determination to provide a better life for herself and her young son. Sofia is resilient –she left her abusive ex-husband, is caring for her son who is recovering from a long term illness and is working to support her son. The Giordino family has taken her under their wing—she is grateful for their love and support. Her ex-husband does not approve of Sofia’s new life and new family—this causes tension between them. Nico realized that Sofia was special and he understands that he needs to show her he cares about her and Mateo. Loved the back and forth banter between Nico and his cousin Dom about Nico’s feelings towards Sofia. Loved the friendship and sizzling chemistry between Nico and Sofia. With each chapter, Marie Force builds upon the couple’s relationship – Nico consistently steps up for Sofia and she in turn learns to trust him. Loved that both characters were dynamic— Nico learns to truly care for someone while Sofia grabs a chance for love and happiness for herself and her son. Loved the elements of suspense and danger that are woven into the fast paced storyline. This plot choice sets How Much I Want apart from the other books in this series – it held my interest and I read the book in one sitting. There is plenty of romance and laughter in this story as several of my favorite characters appeared throughout the novel. How Much I Want has all of the story elements that I adore—intrigue, romance and complex family relationships. i received an advanced reader copy--all thoughts are my own.
How Much I Want is the fourth book in the Miami Nights series by Marie Force, which encompasses the much anticipated story of Nico and Sofia. Nico Giordino was always the stereotypical “player,” who never made promises to women, as he went through them, never feeling a deeper connection. That is, until he first laid eyes on Sofia. Sofia is a single mom to a little boy recovering from a life threatening illness, who is also trying to extricate herself and her son from an abusive marriage. While the entire Giordino clan jumps in to help them, she finds herself drawn to Nico, despite the warnings of others. She makes him want to change his whole life for her. He makes her want to take a chance on love again but the demons from her past are still threatening to drag her down. Can they overcome all the obstacles stacked up against them?
As with the other books in this series, this one demonstrates the phenomenal world building and character development skills Marie Force has. Everything is so authentic, from the dialogue and witty banter to the roller coaster of emotions. These characters feel like they could be people you know, so when a twist would happen, I reacted instantly, sometimes needing tissues for tears (sad or happy). What I love is how you get a variety of feelings. It’s not all angst. Yes, there’s some heavy, given Sofia’s backstory, but with all the other characters still coming in and out, there are still times to laugh, and plenty of romance and hot chemistry. And, if you like straight up cuteness, Mateo and Everly are around for that! This book had a couple huge unexpected twists that really added to the story. Overall it was an amazing must read! It also set Milo up to have a potentially epic story of his own, and I can’t wait for it!!
I received an advanced review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
‘How Much I Want’, is bringing us back to Miami and the Giordino family and friends.
‘How Much I Want’ can be seen as a continuation of Nochebuena (the Miami Nights holiday story)—though you don’t necessarily have to read it before starting ‘How Much I Want’.
This is Nico & Sofia’s story.
Sofia and her son Mateo were introduced in the first book of the series ‘How Much I Feel’, and have been spotted throughout the other books as well.
Nico is the older brother to Maria, Dee, and Milo and cousin to Carmen, Domenic Jr. and others.
Nico had the reputation of a player, but was working on changing after meeting Sofia when she started working at his family’s restaurant.
Sofia has her plate full—working, taking care of her son, and finalizing her divorce.
She’s noticed Nico, but at the same time has ‘sworn’ off relationships.
What happens when the relationship-shy Sofia decides to give Nico a chance?
Mix in Sofia's ex and the rest of the Giordino family—and you have ‘How Much I Want’.
So pull up a seat, a cool beverage, and a fan; then sit back and enjoy ‘How Much I Want’. I loved the latest trip down to Miami, and I may decide to binge read the series again on the next stormy, rainy day that I’m stuck inside.
I give ‘How Much I Want’ five out five stars, and I totally loved Nico and Sofia’s story. I look forward to the next story in the series, and can’t wait to see how the family grows.
Versteht die Hintergründe / Handlungen besser verstehen was so abgeht.
Another great read from the very talented Marie Force. How Much I Want is book 4 in the Miami Nights Series but I do believe Nico Giordano and Sofia Diaz’s story could be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone although I’m sure one visit to Miami would never be enough. From the moment I picked this book up I was drawn to single mum Sofa and playboy Nico and it didn’t take long for me to be engrossed in their beautifully written journey. Sofia has walked away from her abusive husband and is now concentrating on looking after her son who is recovering from a life threatening illness. Life is hard and very hectic and she is grateful to the Giordano family when they offer their help. What she didn’t expect as to fall hook, line and sinker for Nico Giordano…. Nico never thought he would meet a woman who would have him changing his playboy ways but it’s seems he has met the one, when he becomes involved with Sofia and her son. This was an entertaining yet emotional read, it’s a beautifully written journey with the perfect mix of love, witty banter and plenty of family loyalty. It’s a book that will appeal to a wide range of audiences and it’s a story that you can relate to with characters you love bond with.
Being new to Ms.Force’s work i’ve been looking forward to picking up her work! As soon as i stumbled across this book while on social media i instantly started looking forward to it. I picked it up and got into the Miami Nights world. I enjoyed this story!
Nico and Sofia’s journey captured my attention quickly! As these two become closer, will outside forces tear them apart before they’ve even begun? Or will they take a chance on their hearts? I couldn’t wait to see how everything would play out for these two.
I really liked getting to see them tackle things in their lives, especially their feelings. I enjoyed the realness. The chemistry between Sofia and Nico was great! I was so glad that i got to jump into both of their minds and dig deeper with them. Sofia’s love for her son Mateo got me in the heart. Nico had me falling for him. I loved how i felt so many things throughout reading with them!
I enjoyed getting into this world for the first time!
With How Much I Want, Ms.Force has created such a good read with feels! I am so looking forward to picking up more of her books in the future!
There are triggers from an abusive ex.

"Another 5+ star read in the Miami Nights series, just when I think I have read the best book in the series, I am wrong yet again, Nico and Sofia’s story is my favorite so far.
There is just something about a man, that when he falls for a single mom, he just moves up more in my book. Sofia, has had a rough go of it, her son Mateo has fought and won a scary health crisis. She is trying the best she can by herself until Nico comes along. The bad boy of the family, Nico knows she can probably do better, but he can’t help but want a life with these two.
A romantic suspense with a couple triggers of domestic abuse, but all in all it was a wonderful story of learning to overcome and conquer the life you want." ~Stephanie
How Much I Want is the fourth book in the Miami Nights series, and the first book from that series I have read. I loved reading and filling Nick and Sophia's story. Starting over with her son after leaving her abusive husband, Sophia finds help and support from Nico's family. As always Marie Force has written a wonderful story, and I will be going back to read the other books in the series. ~Dawn
I'm not sure I connected with this book as much as other readers did, but it was probably because it was my first book of the series. There was a romantic suspense with the triggers of abuse (physical and verbal) and violence.
The heat up of things between Nico and Sofia was pretty fast, but I realize they had met in a previous book. Their relationship was pretty sweet because it was so out of character for the "love 'em and leave 'em" Nico. I love it when heroes are just totally blown away by a woman. It was even sweeter, because he also fell for Sofia's son, Mateo.
Sofia was also an awesome character because she was working so hard to set up a new life for her and her son after leaving an abusive husband. What I really liked was her reluctance and precaution in giving herself over completely to a new man. In way too many stories, the hesitance isn't there and it makes it seem unreal to me. Force did a great job with that!
Thanks to Wildfire Marketing Solutions for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
This is the 4th book in Marie Force’s Miami Nights series. While technically a standalone title, after reading it, I promptly devoured the first 3 books and am now firmly entrenched in this family’s saga. I love how they instinctively pull people into their inner circle who need exactly what they can give: unconditional love and acceptance. Family is more than blood, and this family is a perfect example of how that works. I enjoyed Nico and Sofia’s story, but it made it even richer when I went back and read the series from the beginning. I’m a long-time fan of Marie’s writing. Her Gansett Island series hooked me from the first book years ago, and I’ve never been disappointed in any of her stories. If you’re looking to dip your toes into one of her series, this is a great place to start without it being overwhelming to catch up. Fair warning, though. You’ll find yourself devouring her backlist after this one!
Ms. Force's 4th book in her new series about the Giordano family. We first met Sofia and Nico in the first book. Sofia has left her abusive husband and is dealing with her son Mateo recovering from his brain/cancer surgery. Nico has secretly liked Sofia since she's being working in the family restaurant. He knows that his family has warned her away from him being a ladies man. Unbeknownst to his family he has secretly begin to care for her and plans to tell her. This story starts and intersect somewhat with Ms.Force novella about this family called Nochebuena(Christmas Eve in Spanish).Nico decides to invites her and her son to his family story. So begins their love story which has some gritty realistic things happening pertaining to domestic abuse. I enjoyed catching up with the past three couples in the previous book brought a smile to my first. Ms.Force does family saga in loving way better than any other romance author that i read.
A beautiful love story that evokes every emotion you can think of!
How Much I Want is the fourth book in the Miami Nights series and can be read as a standalone.
All of the books in this series have been so unique and this story continues the pattern!
How Much I Want is so dreamy and sweet: I couldn’t stop smiling. How Marie Force wrote this book is amazing. Wow - I just can’t praise it enough. It is one of the most real books I’ve read. I loved the history and atmosphere of the Cuban community.
I cried happy tears for Austin and Maria’s wedding. I have never cried happy tears in my whole life! And then on the other spectrum I cried sad tears for Milo. Nico and his dad’s relationship also broke my heart and put it back together again. Family is truly at the heart of this series.
This book is a rollercoaster of emotions that you won’t want to miss.
As a long time Marie Force fan I have loved this series since day one! Sofia and Nico’s story was no exception. Sofia is a single mother of an adorable son who has had some health issues. Her husband is a jerk and won’t leave her alone. Nico is proud of the life he has built for himself. He has a successful business, a great house and a close relationship with his family. Most of all he has a major thing for a family friend and he doesn’t want to back down. As things heat of between them bad things are happening around them. Nico and his family are supportive and protective of Sofia and her son, which I love. This was a great quick read that was emotional at times. I enjoyed the story and catching up with previous characters. I’m extremely excited about the next book in this series. I can’t wait to read what happens next.
Wow! Nico fell for Sofia pretty much on sight, but after her horrible first relationship with her soon to be ex-husband, she was wary. But Nico convinced her he was nothing like her ex and would never do anything to hurt her. When her ex comes to drop off their son, Matteo, he sees Nico with Sophia and gets jealous. So the ex decides he wants Sophia back and she won't have anything to do with him. Thus the nightmare begins because her ex is bad news! This book is about love and family and what happens when bad people try to hurt people you love! It's sweet and sexy one minute and pulse pounding in the next! I highly recommend this book! Just be ready to laugh, cry and worry! And of course you get to catch up with a lot of the characters you love! A must read!
Great story! Marie takes you on a ride of love, understanding, and just amazing characters! 5 miami stars for this one! Sofia and Mateo have had a rough life. Her soon to be ex doesn't want to let her go, but she's had enough, his lack of caring about their son was more than she could take. When Nico steps in to help her, he instantly falls in love with Mateo, and Sofia! But she's afraid to give her heart out again after what she just went through, and with her ex causing more trouble for Nico, she fears she's bringing her troubles right to his door step. But Nico only wants to keep her and her son safe, and he can do it best with them at his home. This story pulled me right in, this is one you don't want to miss out on!
Another 5+ star read in the Miami Nights series, just when I think I have read the best book in the series, I am wrong yet again, Nico and Sofia’s story is my favorite so far.
There is just something about a man, that when he falls for a single mom, he just moves up more in my book. Sofia, has had a rough go of it, her son Mateo has fought and won a scary health crisis. What an amazing addition to the Miami Nights series. Nico & Sofia's story is truly amazing and inspiring. This book has it all, love, intense chemistry, banter, respect, family, friendships and suspense (with a couple of domestic violence triggers). Nico's immediate love for Sofia's son, Mateo just melts your heart.
As with all of Marie's series, it's nice to catch up with couples from previous books to get a glimpse of what is going on in their lives.
If this is the first book in the Miami Nights series for you, it can definitely be read as a stand alone. However, I would strongly suggest reading the previous 3 books in the series as they are all just as amazing as this one.
Nico has been labeled as "toxic" toward women. That is until he meets the right one! Sofia has had more then enough toxic in her life but can't resist the pull she feels towards Nico. The odds are stacked against them with the danger of her jealous soon to be ex husband. Sofia has never had anyone on her side. She struggles with the idea of letting the Giordino family be there for her. She wants to be a part of the family but she knows it could cost them everything.
I'm ashamed to admit I'm new to the Giordino family. Not for long though! Marie does an amazing job of telling just enough about the former books to make you want to read them without spoiling them! I can't wait to start at the beginning of this awesome book series.
