Anna del Mar writes hot, smart romances that soothe the soul, challenge the mind, and satisfy the heart. Her stories focus on strong heroines struggling to find their place in the world and the brave, sexy, kickass, military heroes who defy the limits of their broken bodies to protect the women they love. She is the author of The Asset (Carina Press), the first novel of her Wounded Warrior series and three other novels scheduled for release during 2016.

A Georgetown University graduate, Anna enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, and the sea. Writing is her addiction, her drug of choice, and what she wants to do all the time. The extraordinary men and women she met during her years as a Navy wife inspire the fabulous heroes and heroines at the center of her stories. When she stays put—which doesn’t happen very often—she lives in Florida with her indulgent husband and two very opinionated cats.

Quite honestly, I don't even know where to begin to discuss Apollo, the fourth novel in Anna del Mar's incredible Alpha Heroes, series other than tell you it's a 5-star read, and to attempt to tell you why without giving away any spoilers.

First, we meet Apollo, the only African American Battleson brother, and he is on a mission. When Leo Battleson, one of his 5 brothers, was fatally injured in an IED explosion, his dying words were "River Nile Egypt." It didn't make much sense until the brothers and the mysterious and elusive Tee, figured out that the first two words were, "River Niles," the name of the woman Leo loved, and that "Egypt" was a town, one of 17 with that name in the U.S., and which was finally whittled down to Egypt, Nebraska. It was further whittled down to a sleazy, white supremacist, neo-Nazi skinhead, biker bar, The Hangout, which is the last place on earth Apollo should have entered alone, but with a mission to complete, he orders a beer from a beautiful waitress with dyed blue hair, who tells him the name she goes by is Blue. When he asks about the owner, Blue tells him that she's a "super bitch," that she isn't there, and Blue warns him to get out while he can, and asks him to meet her in the bathroom in 8 minutes.

The biggest, meanest, most vile, skinhead in the bar is Ray, Blue's brother, and she has been his unwilling hostage for the past year. Ray treats her horribly, loves to abuse and humiliate her, and after the quick meeting in the bathroom and a surprising hot kiss, followed by Blue being forced to strip and pole dance at her brother's orders, Apollo plans to get her out of there, not fully understanding what Ray has been holding over her head for the past year, or Blue's protestations that she can't leave, and we soon learn why. When Apollo manages to sneak Blue out of there, he sets off quite a chain of events, but I won't spill the beans--you'll have to read it yourself.

If you're looking for one seriously gritty, graphically violent, graphically steamy novel, with danger and villains around every corner, and two emotionally wounded yet brave and damaged souls coming to terms with their pasts and their personal issues, look no further than this novel because it has it all. Kudos to Ms. del Mar for pulling out all the stops and weaving this amazing roller-coaster of action and emotion into what is perhaps the most intricately plotted, deeply emotional, and addictive novel in the series so far. While Apollo reads just fine as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the novels in this fabulous series in the order they were written to fully understand who the Battleson brothers are, how they came to be and what they mean to one another. You won't regret a minute of it.

Here's the thing with Anna del Mar: as soon as I turn the first page, I know I'm going to be sucked head first into a well-written story with characters I'll care about and a story that will have me wanting to stay up in the early hours of the morning to read so I can find out what happens. Apollo's book was no different. The penultimate in the Alpha Heroes series, this Battleson brother has his demons, as do all of them, but then he meets the woman who changes his world upside down...except he knows he can never have her because of who she is.

Blue was not at all what I was expecting, given her identity. Put through hell by her revolting brother, she tolerates it for her other sibling who needs her. When Apollo gives her an out, she so desperately wants to take it, but she doesn't dare dream she really could have a better life. Apollo is determined to prove she does deserve it, and watching them fall for each other is a delight. I don't want this series to end!

Another fabulous exciting read in this series. Apollo is such a wonderful hero and Blue has such spunk, both overcoming terrible pasts. Great catching up with a lot of the others from this series, although I missed Trev who was only there in the background (still hoping he gets his own story).

Looking forward to the story of Kass and Tee, when we will at last learn the identity of the nasty Zero Tango...

My only what the h### moment in this book was when I saw the cover... good looking guy, but Apollo is black?!

This Author sure does love the word “Sneaked”, it’s not even used correctly either. That’s the main reason for the 3 stars & the other is the book cover. I can’t stand when the cover doesn’t match the character. It wouldn’t be so bad if they put a handsome chocolate man on the front even if some of the attributes were different but that’s not the case here they have a Vanilla man. In the book Apollo is described as a black man but yet there is a white man on front of the cover. Can’t stand that.My opinion i don’t like Blue. I honestly couldn’t stand her one big for Apollo. Especially how she spoke to the Guys when she was saved. She didn’t know these people & she immediately spoke to them like they were scum after they saved her. I was looking forward to this book the most but was let down.

This is the first time I have read anything by Anna del Mar and I really liked this series. Each book is about a different man who had a terrible childhood and ended up in child detention together where they formed a bond. They ended up being lucky and being adopted by the same amazing couple and all became brothers. All of the different brothers go into different branches of the military and become receive high positions like Navy Seal. Once they come back they create a company where they are able to sell products that they thought of while on tour but behind that company they are also a group that works to help still defend the good and our country. Each book contains a romance for each of these men who believe they are to hard to deserve love.

Anna Del Mar tackle some heavy issues in Troy such as racism, misogyny and white supremacy. She does it with a deft hand and seamlessly incorporates them into a fascinating story. Once again Zero Tango has his or her finger on the pulse of everything that the Battlesons do. Apollo's quest to find his dead brother's woman brings some shocking results. Blue is a survivor though she may not see it that way. Years of abuse and being down trodden have taken their toll but she has a responsibility that keeps her from checking out. Once Apollo and Blue resolve their conflicted emotions theirs is a love that shines bright.

Apollo & Blue: trigger- kidnapping, dog fighting, bombs, assault, sexual assault, prostitution, family discord, poison, CFS. this book was probably my least favorite. I found it very boring to the point where I've been reading it off and I've for over a month and it was on audio. I liked that Blue wasn't exactly a damsel and I liked that we learned a little more about Jax and Apollo as blood brothers and their life before being adopted by the Battlesons. zero tango is still in play but there's also a couple of new antagonists that make the story more interesting. but that's pretty much it. I hope the next book is better.

Another battle Royale occurs here, between the Battlesons and their nemesis, the one they call Zero Tango. The twist here is the island setting, along with the discovery that River Niles is not just Leo's lady, but destiny for Apollo, too. So much happens here that some details may fall by the wayside. The Battlesons live to fight another day, another brother finds his match, and there are only two loose ends - right now.

Loved the whole series .The books have wonderful, rich and brave characters that quickly became friends that you want to visit over and over. You want to see the women get their mean no matter the trouble. It was awesome to see each man story as the books go by yet they all work so well. Can't wait till January for the last one. Well worth the time and money to read these

I have read the previous Alpha Heroes (wow!) and preordered this book. Apollo went on a quest and found more than he expected. This is a page turner and action with every turn. This is a stand alone book but is so much better when read within the series. Strong Alpha men and even stronger women. Bravo!!

Jax, the brother from book 1 was doing belly flops into the pool showing 8 year old Joram how it’s done. Apollo yells out “that’s a 10” then continues… Your spleen is shot and the pool is half empty but you nailed it! I’m still laughing. Every chapter has excitement or family fun time. Apollo’s story is special. 5 Stars.

Enjoyed

This is a great series. It took me a while to even like Blue but I did by the end. I loved Lexi tearing into her. Stubborn men always off on their own. It was a good book. Read them all in order.

Beginning was a tough read... a lot of hate, racism, and prejudices. Ending was great! I am thoroughly enjoying this series!
