Bluey is a 6 year old Blue Heeler pup who loves to play. Her parents and teacher give her lots of time to practice, which means she’s become very good at inventing games, helping everyone choose their roles and deciding on the rules. Her favourite games are ones that involve lots of other kids and grown-ups (especially her dad) and she mainly likes to pretend she’s a grown up doing grownup things herself.

Bluey is an Australian children's television program by the Emmy award-winning Ludo Studio for ABC KIDS and is co-commissioned by ABC Children's and BBC Studios.

Don't judge me, okay? This was for a reading challenge 🤣

But also, Bluey is my favorite, so this was cute and wholesome.

Just like at many holiday gatherings in North America, there is a lot going on at Bluey's family Christmas in Australia. I appreciated how the writers included a large family gathering in this picture book, including a video call from relatives in Bali.

Often there is a desire for white space in picture books, with as few characters as possible, as if children are unable to process the energy and activity that surrounds them. Children with large families will be able to relate to this, as a mirror, while looking out a window of intercultural understanding that it is summer in Australia at Christmastime, perfect weather for a barbecue and a swim in the pool. It's also a good message for children who don't exchange gifts at their own homes, but at a relative's instead.

Bluey's concern about her new toy is very relatable to young children, with her dad's playfulness a refreshing salve to overly serious parental portrayals. A successful entry in the world of Bluey.

It's great to have a Christmas story about an Australian Christmas where it's hot, we have a BBQ and try to swim - if lucky with to have a pool - unfortunately that's not my family!
Took my awhile to realise "Bartlebee" was meant to be a close association word to "Barbie" however I did realise it was a doll in a Barbie shaped box! That was a cute, clever touch. I also loved how Bluey was able to express feeling overwhelmed through Bartlebee. I took a star off because whilst a lot of Aussies love to holiday in Bali and that is an accurate, legit thing Aussies do, I hate Bali and I hate that it's a part of our culture when we have so many amazing beaches and tourist destinations here. I did love the advice given to Bluey by Aunt Frisky - even if she was in Bali ;)

Bluey is one of our favourite cartoons. We watched every one of its episodes and participated in most of its events. We got this book home without looking at its content or thinking, and we read it together at bedtime on the same day. Disappointing to both of us. The illustration is messy and unbalanced. The story is a bit too long for little ones.

9/4/2023 - Read with Momma. I love Bluey and this book was great! I would point to this book and tell Momma, “Bu, Bu!” to let her know I wanted to read it.

The Bartlebee classic. Heartwarming and humorous at the same time.

Beautiful illustrations and follows along the same script as the episode of the same name. A great book for connecting young children and their favourite TV show to reading.

Bluey #1

Tie in book which felt very much like a tie-in book and calculated to be something fans would buy and not much more effort put in.
We don't even get an author name here!

Bluey book advent calendar day twenty-four!

This just made me resent living in a country that's cold and rainy regardless of the season. Australians don't know how good they've got it.

Got this in a two pack along with "Veranda Santa" and Little One likes this one. Probably because it's one of my favorite episodes.

Christmas doesn't look the same all over the world. In Australia, it's summertime and perfect for swimming and picnics. Many kids will relate to having a big, bustling family reunion.

I bought this for one of my friend's daughter and I read it as part of the end of year challenge because I was running out of time in the year lol. It was cute. If you like Bluey, you'll like this. It was a Christmas story about a gift Bluey got and wanted to be included into the family and what it is like to have a sort of hectic family.

The children spent the entire book complaining about my lack of Australian accent when I said Bartlebee and Heeler, but it was fun and it’s good to remember that Christmas is very different in the Southern Hemisphere.

Bluey gets a new toy for Christmas and names it Bartlebee. But adjusting to the Heeler family isn't going to be that easy for Bartlebee, but with time, understanding and a lot a patience, living with the Heeler's just might be a good thing.

A heartwarming Bluey episode as a book. And not a bad book at that.
