Outdoors people, rejoice! This stunning book from Countryman Press brings to the reader both visual beauty in the photography and detailed information in the text for winter hiking and camping specifically but also for how to safely navigate the cold weather while outdoors for longer or long periods of time.
Listened to this on a winter hike (mild temps here) but did have me rethinking my bottom warmth solutions. Even for simple hikes could use a lift in options. Good to remember there is no bad weather just bad clothes.
Lots of beautiful photos and a lot of common sense about walking, trekking, hiking in winter. This book has lots of info organized and also features several lists. Some more in depth stuff concerning types of snow and ice, or ancillary equipment.
I skimmed this and looked through the winter pictures, since I'm unable to go to these places and have a bit of wanderlust.
I will say that I was hoping for some Colorado, and while this book didn't deliver that exactly, it does have a ton of useful information for those looking to winter hike.
I love reading hiking guides but this one was actually really informative as far as the suggestions for gear and dressing properly dressing for cold weather. As someone who lives in an area that does not usually dip below freezing I was so confused about how to layer things properly when I started winter hiking.
