Bone Dry: Vol. I: The Curse

Rate this book
Bone Dry Vol. The Curse is the first installment of a dark poetry collection that talks about the struggles of addiction and mental health. These poems touch on the thought process that addicts and alcoholics go through both in active addiction and in recovery. This is a collection for those who enjoy darker, more thought provoking poetry. These words come from the soul, touching on emotions we all feel whether you have experience with addiction/recovery or not. These poems paint a picture of situations and emotions that we have all found ourselves in. This is the first book from Kevin S. Scott, sharing words that have never before been spoken.

"..I see the world through a different lens. Maybe a little foggy, maybe a little darker than most. We should not always run from our darker thoughts, we should not always suppress them. Through these notes, thoughts, and ideas, I have found peace. When reading this, you may see depression or anger, but that's not the case. We all have this built-up frustration dying to escape. It's best not to bottle it up, it's best not to keep it hidden. Through these words, I free myself. I escape my nightmares, my personal demons and even some haunting thoughts. My intent is not to scare or upset, but to show you that you're not alone.."

This collection is amazingly lyrical. Like, AMAZING. There are no forced rhymes, everything flows so incredibly perfectly. In each short piece, (none more than a page long) Scott takes us on a ride through dark places, addiction and recovery. But he does it so familiarly…you will know someone in this book. Whether it’s Scott himself, a family member or the Friday night air-guitarists, you will be able to relate to a perspective from this book. It takes a true poet to make this darkness feel so welcoming. Scott totally nails it.
