Jasper Trowbridge, Duke of Hampshire, and his sister, Sophia have been friends with Miss Emma Radforde for many years. They live across the street from each other and Sophia and Emma visit almost daily. Emma has always had an attraction for Jasper. Unfortunately Emma's father, Mr. Colin Radforde, had lost most of their wealth and now must work for a small company. This has changed their social standing and thus the invitations they receive now. It has not effected the friendship between Emman Sophia and Jasper. Jasper and Sophia are going to a masquerate ball. Sophia wants Emma to go with her to the ball and offers her a gown to wear, a turban to cover her hair and a large mask to cover her face. Emma agrees to go and hoping Jasper will ask her to dance. She gets her wish and Jasper thinks the masked lady may be the one for him. His parents had encouraged Jasper to marry someone of high standing and with a large dowry. Emma knows she has neither the high standing or a large dowry. Sophia suggests they begin to write one another to really get to know each other. Emma begins to have a gentleman caller, Mr. Graham Meyrick, which seems to upset Jasper for reasons he does not understand. This story has friendship, loyalty, romance, jealousy, family issues and a few surprises along the way. Enjoy!!!

A very good story.
This was a lovely story to read. We have a young woman who is very attracted to one gentleman but is afraid for him to him to know. Our gentleman knows he wants more out of a relationship than what society thinks is right. They meet at a masquerade ball and start writing letters to each other. What will happen when the truth comes out? Well dear reader that made for a very interesting story. I loved what Jasper said to Lucas toward the end of the book. It is a very good book and I am happy I took the time to read and I do recommend it.

Letters to her Darling Duke

Sometimes in this story I wanted to slap Jasper. I was to hit over the head. I am glad it worked out in the end.

Great clean romance

I enjoyed the story and drama as Emma had to patiently wait until the Duke worked through pleasing his parents to find the love in his heart. I recommend this story for the young adult reader.
