I am not sure what to make of this book... The author seems to be suffering from the Jekyll and Hyde syndrome. Sometimes his arguments and examples are simply brilliant, and at other times they seemed to be very weak, lacking or incorrect. The latter is sometimes caused by the misinterpretation of quotes of, for example, George Elliot's "Middlemarch", or by incorporating a particular novel which does not lend itself for an apocalyptic reading, such as Thomas Hardy “Far From The Madding Crowd”. Which is a pitty, since it greatly reduces the book's worth.
