About the author

Mike Hillman has lived most of his life in the Arrowhead country of Minnesota. Graduating from Ely Memorial High School and Vermilion Community College with an AA degree, he then went on to finish a degree in English at St. Olaf College. Mike was married for twenty years and has two children, Zach and Allison. In 1993, Mike had the good fortune to meet Charles Kuralt who bought the Ely radio station with the provision that Mike agreed to become his manager. It was a good partnership for both parties, which sadly ended with Kuralt's death July 4, 1997. Mike has continued to play an important part in his community through local government and through his many artistic talents. He hopes his efforts at writing will help preserve its history.
