I read through this in hope that it would be useful for my graduate research, but it was too dated to seem that useful: it very much focused on a moment in time in the early 1990's. Furthermore, while some of the chapters--especially the one on New Orleans--were quite detailed and general, others were very specifically focused on specific political fights with questionable general applicability. In the case of the chapter on the Los Angeles Bus Riders' Union, it was a history of events by one of the activists, which felt somewhat unbalanced.
