This series was a bit disappointing. Flat characters. Plot that stretched believability. No sense of humor.

Sequel to The Last Vampire, I don't think I'm interested enough to keep following this series. It bugs the heck out of me when a book within a series doesn't have it's own satisfying conclusion and leaves you hanging until the next book comes out. I don't have that kind of patience anymore!

At any rate, this book continues the story of Scott Boulder and Leah and their involvement with a covert military operation that sought to genetically enhance soldiers using the DNA of a vampire. While the vampire seemed to have been destroyed in the previous book, it turns out that he hasn't been destroyed entirely and is working furiously to return to this plain of existence.

c2008: FWFTB: New Orleans: drones, altered, escaped. Where do I start with this one. As the overall star rating for this book is quite good, it is clear that I am in the minority but, jeesh, this book was awful. Perhaps it was because it was the second in a series and I was not invested in the characters. I found the dialogue to be banal, the plotting weak and the clichéd characters unbearable. Not the best use of 60p. Unfortunately, not in a position to be able to recommend it to the normal crew. " If it weren't the part of Bourbon Street where ckubs showcasing beautiful women reigned supreme, some developer would probably try to turn the building into condos."

I suspected this book wouldn't be great when I saw it at the library, but I picked it up in desperation since I couldn't find many horror offerings to read for Halloween. It's safe to say that it lived up (or down) to my expectations. It's a by-the-numbers thriller with annoying characters who can't stop moping over their poor tough lives. Didn't care a whit about any of them, or for reading any other volumes in this series.
