Young, cool, laid back professor Kieran is totally captivated by the blind and beautiful Lucien.
Lucien has been around a long time, but he is equally caught by Kieran's sensuality. He believes Kieran might be the man he wishes to spend the rest of eternity with.
Lucien's blindness doesn't turn Kieran off, but will his secret?
Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."
A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.
Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.
A fascinating story about a blind vampire and his new human lover. Lucien has been waiting for a long time to meet someone like Kieran. When he does they fall in lust very quickly. But Lucien wants more.
I really liked the characters, Kieran hesitant and a little scared but ready to follow his lover. Lucien is a "gentle" vampire who wants to have a willing companion, so there is none of the violence of many of the vampire stories I have read. Quite a nice contrast if you're looking for something just a little different.
A fascinating story about a blind vampire and his new human lover. Neither of them is looking for "the One", but when they meet, the attraction is immediate. They get to know each other in a series of very physical encounters, and the tone of the story is an appropriate mix between sensual and very hot.
This is a nicely paced novella about a beautiful blind vampire and the young professor he meets at a poetry slam. They are very attracted to each other and immediately embark on a physical relationship - although both think it might be more. I really enjoyed their interaction and they are very hot together. Nice touches with their exploration of poetry and literature.

THE REVIEW
True confession time: prior to reading this, I had read exactly one vampire story in my entire life—the original Dracula by Bram Stoker. As my daughter said to me, that one is more about dirt than vampires and the little bit I remember about it, I think she’s right. Given this, I don’t have a great deal of context for reading and reviewing a vampire story. But I read this as part of the All Romance “28 Days” promotion (see below) and even though the genre is new to me, I enjoyed this story.
I say “story” loosely because the plot is pretty thin and in the oeuvre of vampire stories, it’s probably been told a million times. Even so, the writing is good and the sexy details—of which there are many since this is basically one sex scene after another (four in all)—are pretty titillating and erotic. In particular, because Lucien is blind, he uses his other four senses to “see” Kieran and the way this process is described is very sensual. Their sexual encounters are also the way they get to know each other, make a bond and attachment and for Kieran, make the ultimate decision that will alter the course of his life. That’s about it—Lucien and Kieran, no one else, nothing else. But I have to say, they are a pretty sexy pair and I did enjoy reading about them.
This is the first thing I have read by Sean Michael; Wave tells me he is one of her favorite authors. I would certainly be open to reading something else by him since this novella captured my attention and kept me absorbed for the hour or so that it took to read it. I’d be interested in his take on other characters and stories although I may not be ready for another vampire one right away.
If you are in the mood for a short, hot, sensual read, give this a try. If you are a fan of vampire stories then I am sure this will definitely appeal. If you are a newcomer to the genre, like me, I suspect it will still make your heart flutter a bit, as it did to mine.
For me, there was almost a sensual feel to this book as I was reading it. I could attribute a little bit of that feeling to the actual dialogue, and a whole lot to the descriptions used and the actions taken by Lucien to visualize Kieran through his blindness. Touch always has the potential to be a very sensual experience, but in the hands of a master, it elevates to a whole new level when it also takes over for another sense (such as sight). Let’s just say that Lucien had my skin tingling!
I think it’s important to keep in mind that this is a short novella, and therefore, things move along far more quickly than normal. The initial meeting between Lucien and Kieran held an interesting mix of feelings: confusion over what exactly was taking place and what Lucien was all about, concern over Lucien taking advantage of Kieran in his chemically induced haze, and of course, plenty of skin tingling heat! By the second meeting, Kieran finds out about Lucien’s secret and they are talking about eternity. So yes, it’s important to remember this is a fantasy novella or you’ll feel like your head might be spinning over the reality of the timeline.
I’ve always enjoyed vampire stories and this was no exception. The fact that the vampire in this story was both gay and blind gave it a dimension that was unique among others.
It is a wonderful thing when an author is able to strip a character of one of their basic senses, and yet still completely convey a full array of emotions from that character. That is what Michael does with Lucien.
Lucien is a blind, gay vampire. Having lost his sight not long after he was turned, he’s had to learn to rely on his other senses. Kieran is a college professor that Lucien stumbles upon one night at a poetry reading. It’s obvious immediately that Lucien is gay, but it takes a little longer for Kieran to realize he’s blind. He quickly learns that it’s not a disability though, atleast not for Lucien. What he lacks in vision he makes up for in touch. He plays Kierans body like a violin, tweeking every sound, every emotion, every tingle with the tips of his fingers.
After a couple of very intense nights of sensually passionate trysts Lucien decides that Kieran is the one he wants to spend eternity with. But eternity is very long time. If Kieran believes his story, believes what Lucien tells him he is, will he want to spend eternity with him?
This book should be sold with a fan! The sensuality and passion jump off the pages. I was a little disappointed that we got a glimpse into Luciens past, but nothing into Kierans. My major complaint was the story was way too short, I could take a full length novel with these two characters. If you are looking for a short, sexy read with some guy on guy action that will make your toes curl.. this is the book for you!
Kieran is a literature prof and one night at a poetry slam he sees a hot gothy guy. The guy sits with him and turns out Lucien is blind. Within minutes they are headed back to Kieran’s place where they have unsafe sex. Not only does Lucien bite him and therefore tastes his blood but he convinces Kieran (who is high) to bareback. Lucien has decided that Kerian is THE ONE. A couple of days later Kieran is back at the cafe hoping to see Lucien who shows up with his posse of lesbian (?) goth girls. He and Kieran head back and Lucien reveals he’s a vampire and wants Kieran to join him. For about 25 seconds Kieran thinks he’s got mental issues but more or less decides to go with the flow and becomes a vampire. Umm. Okay. I know it’s a short story but sheesh Kieran. What’s the hurry? It’s essentially a couple of long sex scenes and they are very sensual since Lucien is blind, lots of emphasis on touch and taste and sound . It was what it was. A short erotic read with an emphasis on a third nipple. 0_0 (This one of the good cause books from ARe.)
Normally I don't read vampire storys anymore. And normally I don't like Sean Michael. But this short vampire story by Sean Michael was worth reading. Sweet, clicheed and - in typical Sean Michael style - mostly sex scene after sex scene rather than actual plot, it's written nicely and a pleasant read.
