Sadly, I think this brilliant account of the leading bomb-disposal expert in the UK during the worst of the terrorist attacks of the seventies and eightes, is now out-of-print. If you come across one anywhere, take my advice and buy it. It's a wonderful read that tells the story of Mr Gurney's professional life, including moments that are very funny as well as being poignant and lethal. Highly recommended.

Excellent book

A great read, written by a very brave man, couldn’t put it down once I started reading. Was led to it by another great book…Killing Thatcher by Rory Caroll

A very interesting read.
Although the events are told in a matter of fact, unassuming style the danger of the activities and the courage required to deliberately walk into the danger zone, shines through.
I would not be surprised if many of the people involved in these activities do not suffer from PTSD to at least some degree.
We are very fortunate to benefit from people such as Peter who are prepared to put themselves into danger in order to protect us from danger.
If you have the opportunity to read this book, you should do so.

Whether you are interested in the Military and bomb disposal or not, this book is a great read. British humour and a laid back approach to life and death.

Exactly as Zoë Sharp said, though I would emphasize buying a copy if you see it anywhere much more. A good read and highly recommended
