The only reason for the 4 stars is just the writing style of this book was sometimes hard for me to follow. It was not academic or scholarly, just some of the phrases i had to read and reread as I just wasn't following. I struggled with the 4 stars as opposed to 5, because I personally know and admire professor Paustian, the author.
I had never thought of answering questions about the Bible, though, with actual stories from the Bible. That creates an entirely new level of confidence when sharing the Word. For instance, "You doubt Jesus ever rose? Well, let me tell you about someone who felt the same way you do." And then go into the story of Thomas.
This book provides practical examples of how to answer others’ questions about faith. In the process, it reminds readers of the biblical basis for their own beliefs. I don’t recall any of the content being particularly surprising or new to me, but this book is definitely a helpful resource for anyone who wants to learn or brush up on solid Lutheran doctrine and its applications.
Really enjoyed reading Paustian, his way of painting with words the pictures of our faith and Savior gave me fresh insights into the Bible stories and questions that people have surrounding the Christian faith. Highly recommended!
Fantastic book, the concept of sharing stories in order to share your faith is great. The variety of quotes, personal stories, and scriptural insight really make this book worth reading.
