Cicely Mary Barker was the illustrator who created the famous Flower Fairies; those ethereal smiling children with butterfly wings. As a child she was influenced by the works of the illustrator Kate Greenaway, whom she assiduously copied in her formative years. Her principal influence, however, was the artwork of the Pre-Raphaelites.

Very sweet little book although I think I would prefer the seasonal flower fairy editions of the series. A few of the poems were very enjoyable although others not so much. The illustrations are gorgeous though and made me very nostalgic for my fairy obsession as a child.
There is a use of an older term for Romani people though that could be considered a slur - it’s only in one of the poems and isn’t used to denigrate anyone but still not my favourite to read.
