Ok so James has to take all the passengers to the parade but I am pretty sure they stay him up for failure since both Thomas and Percy barely got the job done.

Our copy didn't contain the sound producing part but you don't need it.

Morning engines is about a train who was supposed to have an exciting day, but he was up too late boasting about his assignment. In the morning the train did not wake up early enough, and therefore Thomas took his passengers to the parade. The train was not responsible and he lost a privilege that he was most excited about.
I did not LOVE the book, but I think that it teaches an important lesson. The children learn that if they are not responsible, then they will loose their privileges. It also puts a negative connotation with boasting.
I would put this book in the age category of 3-5 because it is a short book with noises that go along with the book. It also allows the children to make absolute judgments, and in this case it was bad that the train missed his delivery.
The book is a very interactive book, which keeps children involved in the reading process. It is a great way to be sure the children are following along by making them press the sound template.

This book is okay. The buttons make noise when they are pushed, and the sounds tend to get in the way of the story.
