As a person who spent 3 months travelling in China in the mid 1980s the experiences of these teacher mirrored many of the frustrations and wonderment I had felt 10 years prior. It was a good trip down memory lane and fascinating to be made aware of some aspects of China I had missed/misinterpreted due to culture differences and language barrier. One thing I totally related to was you never get China out of your skin. 40 years on I have an appreciation of things Chinese that only those that have been there would understand.

Although dated, I'm finding this book very informative and entertaining. Real life stories of teachers figuring it out in China.
