Now this was a sparkly sweet ending to a cute Two-fer series. I liked it. Allie is the girl I wish I had been when I was young. She lived an exciting life for 6 years with essentially a sugar daddy. Please, anyone who doesn't believe the man was her sugar daddy is just plain lying.
Alex and Charlie are a hot, smart and rich. They both own part of the elite BDSM club. Do you see where I'm going with the GlitterKink comment? As for the SugarKink, I'd be hard pressed to point out the BDSM scenes. The bit of bondgage is probably the closes I can pinpoint. It was rather sweet. This story wasn't so much about the BDSM or even the sex. It was more about kids who grew up and based on their experiences, they are mature enough now to become lovers. This was a really sweet friends to lovers story. Ms. Carr does a great job with the relationship building. The menage was hot and it moved faster than I would expect, but as Allie states, it was 6 years coming.
I recommend this to kinky readers who want some sugar and spice and everything nice.

This was a good story. I liked the characters, Allie and Alex especially but Charlie's pretty cool too once he gets things worked out in his head.
Allie is a strong willed woman with an adventurous nature. She has loved both Charlie and Alex since she was young but felt like she had to see the world before settling down. She finds out about Alex's feelings for Charlie and his wish for a menage between the 3 before she goes but she decides to take the adventure and leaves Charlie and Alex behind.
Charlie and Alex have been best friends for years. They've both loved Allie for years as well (although Charlie never realized Alex's feelings for her and Charlie never admitted to Allie how he felt about her). They are very close and even chose to build a duplex so they could live together while still being apart. Alex is bi-sexual and has feelings for Charlie but has never told him, waiting for Allie to come back home before trying to go there and risk their friendship. When Allie comes back home for good, Alex decides it's time to act.
Because of the background between the trio, we come in to the story rather suddenly when they're at a BDSM club and have apparently just helped Allie's sister hook her man (see book #1 in the series). The trio are in the club and things start to happen...then they go back to Charlie and Alex's duplex and they all start a m/f/m menage. Allie and Alex and fine with things but Charlie has reservations, wondering how long a relationship like this could last. Regardless of these reservations, he goes with it hoping things don't blow up.
Things are going pretty good between the trio when things evolve between Charlie and Alex. Unsure how to handle things, Charlie hides in his work and retreats from Allie and Alex. When Alex confronts him they have an intense interlude in Charlie's office, Charlie gets even more conflicted but not for the reasons he feels he should. After a bit of a freak out and talk (with Allie's sister of all people) Charlie feels better about things and goes to find Allie and Alex. They come together in a m/m/f menage and start their HEA.
This was an enjoyable story. I liked the characters and the interplay in the relationship building was well done. Since it is short there's not much of a story-line outside of the romance but it does well with that. :D

Ok this book has to be up there on my list of favorites!! This is a truly wonderful MMF book. It has all the elements I love about a MMF. I love to read about a guy who is struggling with feelings he never expected to feel for another man. Alex and Charlie's first love scene is beyond beautiful hotness!!

Wow, what a great story!
The lead characters were all smart, strong-willed, mature and entertaining, the relationship-building was compelling, the conflicts were organic and the smut was chef's kiss!
Loved reading about a hot threesome where the power dynamic was equal, instead of two dominant men ganging up on a vulnerable woman. Want more! With more kink!

I enjoy Mari Carr's writing and, again, this was a friends-to-lovers story that was sweet and romantic and also hot every now and then. I haven't made up my mind yet, however, about guy-on-guy action, hence the three stars. Now if it were two girls and a guy in a menage... that I can warm up to fast. Regardless of the MM element that I didn't find too arousing, it was still an enjoyable read.

This book focuses on Ginny’s little sister, Allie, and Ginny’s best friends, Alex and Charles.
The beginning of the book starts 6 prior to Sugar and Spice and gives us a glimpse into how long our trio have waited to come together.
I am not usually a ménage reader, but I was intrigued by this trio when reading Sugar and Spice. I absolutely loved all the characters and their interactions in this book. The way Charles and Alex loved their Allie-Cat was just so sweet and swoon worthy. My hurt for Alex though to be honest, he loved two with his whole heart, but was unsure if his best friend would ever love him in that way. Poor Charles a dominant and traditional man had a lot of problems coming to terms with his relationships, but Allie and Alex help him out.
I actually laughed at the fact that Charles thought he cheated on Allie with Alex; the poor man was so broken up about something that didn’t even happen.
I would have totally loved an epilogue on both couples: what happened with Ryan and Ginny’s future? Who does Allie marry in the trio?

Just sort of blah. All the things that would’ve made me connect with the characters were left out or just told. Also, the guys were not that distinct - especially with the last name business. So you need to keep track of full names. Plus, they already have feelings for each other. But the entire thing was just phoned in. To wit, the last 2 paragraphs:
“Charlie was the first to surrender to his desire, his hard climax triggering Alex’s and Allie’s.
As they lay together in the aftermath, Alex knew that they’d made it through the dangers, the traps, the tricks. The stage was set, the plot written, the roles ready to be cast—and he couldn’t wait to see who ended up with what part.”
They are engineers who are part owners of a sex club. What’s with the theater references? Blah.
Disappointed in this. Usually like MC.

Allie is finally back home after having roamed the world with another man. Alex has been waiting for her to return, and make his life more complete. Charlie has always wondered why she left. So many unsaid things between these three good friends. Now that they are older, can they come together as friends and maybe more? Is the timing right? Are attitudes in alignment? Parts of their lives that others see, but they are too blind to see in each other!

Well written, but little more than I was ready for. This is the story of 2 (male) best friends and the little sister of their female good friend. Alex has been hoping for the acceptance of his dream of a menage relationship with Allie & his heterosexual male best friend. It does end up working out, and there is a good reflection on the emotional upheaval of accepting a non-traditional relationship like this for the participants that considered themselves more traditional.

This is the second book of two featuring childhood friends. In this story, two best friends have been in love with another friend’s little sister. And they are in love with each other, which is part of the tension in the story. It takes a bit for all three of them to figure they belong together, but it’s a great and thoughtful journey. And hot - did I mention hot? I really enjoyed these three and their friends to lovers journey!

These three certainly had their wires crossed! I love how in the series everyone goes by their last name until they are in a relationship, and you can tell that, when they start calling each other by their first names. This was a case where two don’t work, and you need all three for things to be perfect. Hot, fun, emotional, and loving, this was a great read!

I think this needed to be longer...it moved very quickly. More background, more build-up and more contact as a straight menage would have felt more realistic - especially for Charlie's realization and acceptance of the relationship change between himself and Alex. In my very limited experience with dominant guys who participate in BDSM, they seem to be more open-minded to experimentation; but, this seemed to jump almost immediately past that into a comfortable triad with little self-reflection or introspection.
But that desk sex was smoking hot, so points.
Also, I appreciated the time & distance the author allowed Allie with leaving that small town - an opportunity to grow and explore and experience life on her terms, to do the things she feared she'd never be given the chance to do...so that her choices were HERS in the end and not influenced unduly by an immature desire to be with one (or both) of the men she was already falling for before she knew who she was herself. She needed that time, and I don't begrudge that gap or her sexual liaison with an older man. Massive props for that. (The nature of him being her boss bothered me a bit, but it wasn't a big part of the story so I was able to sweep it under the rug in my mind.)
If this were ever expanded and revised I'd buy it all over again...

This one reminded me of her other work "Any Given Sunday" (Wild Irish series, #7) but I still enjoyed it. Though there were a lot of similarities when it comes to the m/m/f and m/f/m, and the characters have known one another for a long time, but the story was very different - it was short and sweet.
Allie is the adventurous sister compared with Ginny (Sugar and Spice), and I found myself like her, with a lot of dreams, places she wants to go to, and things she want to do. When given the opportunity, she grabbed it with both hands and didn't let go. A lot of people misconstrued this as running away, and Alex thought he pushed her too far, but I liked what she did. It was courageous of her, and she came back to them now a woman, more mature, and ready to take on everything.
It's an intriguing love triangle. Per the description, Allie has wanted Charlie since forever, he feels the same way, and there's Alex who's in love with the both of them. I liked how everything worked, their issues resolved, and the foundation of their relationship. The sex scenes were totally awesome, I just hoped there were more but for a short story, it met my expectations.

I finally got around to reading this one by the lovely Mari Carr. I didn't hold off on reading it because I thought I wouldn't like it. It's actually the opposite, I was saving it for a rainy day when I had nothing else I wanted to read. Because if the name Mari Carr is on the cover it's a guaranteed great read. This one definitely lived up to that expectation. I LOVE her ménage books, mostly because they're about committed ménage relationships and that just fascinates me. To have 2 very sexy men devoted to you, well that's a dream come true for some ladies! ;) I loved the characters in this one. The guys, Alex and Charlie, were sweet and sexy but also a little dominating and very alpha male and Allie was cute and funny and everything else I look for in a female character. I definitely recommend this book to all erotica fans out there, especially those who enjoy a story about a committed manage relationship. And I'd you enjoy this one make sure you check out Mari's other books. I know from experience that they're all fantastic!

For quite some time this book was 4/5 for me but somewhere in the end it fell to a 3. These are my favourite type of ménage books. The ones where the characters struggle to get the relationship together, or struggle to accept their feelings and where all members are in love with and sexually attracted to each other.
But as much as I loved the premise and how the premise started to play out, as the story progressed I fell out of love and really just finished the book out of slight curiosity and boredom. So I would say that there is no reason to run out and grab a copy of this book (and Sugar and Spice ) but if you're looking for a no brainer about unrequited love that is ... requited then this an option for ya.
I can't say that Mari Carr is a win and I await the day that I can truly depend on Mari Carr to provide a no fail series.

I liked that these three MCs had known each other since their youths and had always been attracted to each other. Allie had to go away to live her dreams and grow to adulthood. Now she is back and the two men she loves still want her. Alex has always loved both Allie and Charlie. Charlie has always been close to his best friend so much so that they can almost read each other's minds. They also have connected housing. Now Charlie has to come to terms with his feelings and their relationship. Can he accept?
Steamy. The characters had depth. I would love to have a longer story. Maybe a sequel??????

It's short, but nevertheless well plotted with a real story that develops over the two-weeks time encompassed. I liked having an hindsight into the characters' doubts and questions about their unconventional relationship, expectations therefore and possible repercussions for them or the other.
I think it's one of the few times when a menage story ringed quite true and the characters did not look fake to me.
And the hot scenes are extremely steamy.

Ok let me say that this book is sexy , hot , and it will actually fire you up.. The sex in Charlie's truck with all three of them was awesome . Then when they finally laid everything out there and realized they needed and loved each other it was awesome .. So glad Charlie got Allie the woman of his dreams , and Alex got both of his loves. Didn't think I was going to be comfortable with it at first but I really enjoyed it.
