Got this one out of a Little Free Library Book box...so it was free (trying to start out with a positive note :) ) There are a lot of interesting pieces pictured here, but, unfortunately, the age of the book limited my ability to enjoy it because it was black and while...and a lot of the intricacy of the pieces were really lost with the dated illustrations.
Considering this book was originally published in 1906, it's an INCREDIBLE resource for ethnograpahic/historic jewelry collectors. The opening statements are peppered with shockingly racist and/or irrelevant racial statements, but if you ignore that and just look at the plates it's a tremendous collection. I wish some of the pieces were labeled better. I wish there were colored plates. But all in all, such a lovely addition to a jewelry collector's library!
