The new and final final book in the Mask Trilogy, in which the young slaves finally return to their homeland. When Pippa, her friends and the children they saved from Grassland finally make their way back to the village she remembers from her childhood, the celebration on returning home is short-lived. The same Raiders who threatened Grassland invade her homeland, and they are forced into hiding. When it is safe to emerge, Pippa discovers the man who helped them is her father. Knowing that the raiders will be back for revenge, the villagers are forced to relocate and Pippa must once again summon all of her strength and courage to bring peace to the Spear culture.

So here I had so anxiously awaited the U.S. release of this final book and once I read it, I had an inkling of why the release was delayed. Not such a great read. It was okay. It tied things up. But it didn't live up to the stellar debut of the series.
