Beast
Tarik Bush, also known as Beast, is a street enforcer with a drug empire in Augusta, Georgia. He is feared by most and respected by all, always seeming to run the streets with smarts and brutal force. But, he's growing tired of his way of life and decides he wants out, and although he's ready to throw in the towel, he still knows sleeping with the Drug Boss' girl is a no no. Unable to resist temptation, his actions will cause a domino effect that nearly takes out his whole crew. Now, in order to save the people he cares for, even the love of his life, the Boss' girl, he must put his life on the line as the predator becomes the prey. Will Beast be able to walk away from the life he's created over the years or will that life be the very demise of him?

I think the author did a good job on what I think was his first series. The story moved well. The characters were somewhat developed and the basic structure was evident. The writing was a little stilted, but all in all, this was a solid read.

This book was all over the place by 38% I was confused as to where the story was gone. It was too many things happening at one time and not connecting

The first 1/3 of the story was just eh, for me. I was thinking, why the high ratings? The story picks up when we see how Tarik become Beast.
The story starts with Beast showing us just how he got the name. He moved with his Grandma when his father kills his mom. He goes off to college, but still hangs with is best friend Dent. After graduating, with no job in site, dent brings him in to Red's drug game. He is ruthless and feared on the street even by Red, his boss. But Red is just as crazy as Beast. Add the drug and his rage was even worse.
But like most stories you know what the downfall for most of these guys are, money, disrespect and cookies! Enter Jasmine, she's Red's woman but Beast wants her and she wants him. After a confrontation (where the second issue of a man’s downfall comes to play, disrespect), things finally come to a head and Red, Beast and Infamous (Red's right hand)battle to see who comes out on top. Beast past catches up with him and many lives are lost from the battle between Red and Beast. Not even the helpless and innocent are spared.
Story contains of course like all drug stories, murder, sex scene (not many 2 or 3), ménage à trois, suicide, and rape mentioned.

The streets weren't ready for Beast!
While I do feel that the use of foreshadowing in this book was poorly executed, the story was GREAT! When Radio finishes college and finds that the streets can pay him much more than a path of "straight and narrow," madness begins.
As you read the story , it's easy to feel yourself being pulled in, rooting for Beast to come out on top. There are enough twists and turns that I finished the entire book in a few hours...being hesitant to put it down! I'm anxious to follow Jasmine, Keta , and Ace as the story continues in Beast AD!

I really enjoyed this book. I also liked the way that the author wrote it usually a slightly different twist. It was very EXCITING, lots of urban drama, also pretty raw. Just downloaded part two, can't wait to read it!
