Black Women’s Required Reading

I wish I had read this book sooner when I found out about it but honestly the book came to my attention right on time. I’m certain I will reread. It only took me the course of a weekend to finish. Truly amazing. book. Life changing. It’s time for Black women to level up. Or like Ms. Nassif said “it’s time for Black women to seek our bliss just like everybody else”.

One of the best books of I have ever read on Black (American) Women Empowerment. One that is a quick read for me however, Khadija's writings would always stop me to think, take notes and do my own research. Since this book is a bit older than today, I researched if Khadija's thoughts and writings remained true today. I have noticed she was on track and her predictions became worse than she feared.

Every Black American woman who is on the journey of self improvement should read this book. Whether you agree with her insights or not, it is a good book to place you into a mindset of thinking, questioning and strategizing in your light.

From her blog to her book, I would love to give her flowers for this amazing book. Thank you.

Loved this book! As an Black Woman who has long given a side eye to the “black community”, this book has given me the final permission to let go of the urge to be part of a community that has never made me feel welcome. I can still be me and move about the world just as I am and not drag a community that doesn’t want me along for the ride.

This book is a liberation of sorts and to me was the final agreement to let go of what doesn’t serve me. This book is a must read for African American women. If it does nothing but give you a little something different to mentally chew on. Are we complicit on our own disenfranchisement? Are we continuing to put ourselves and children in harmful environment “for the culture”???

This book requires the reader to do some reflection and take accountability for missteps. It also offers solutions and different pathways should the reader want to make changes.

This book gave me much to think about, which I love. It could have been edited a little better to remove some redundancies, but the message was still strong.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

I am so glad I read this!!!! It's wonderful knowing other women know what I am experiencing and found another solution to thriving in life. This was the push I needed to follow that dream and carve out a new path to a much more fulfilled life. No more carrying people who don't care or reciprocate. Peace, Blessings and Gratitude to the writer!!!

Good read. Parts I-III were excellent. Part IV (Activism) slowed the momentum. I feel like it should've been a mini-ebook.

WOW! I have to say this is a very thorough analysis of the dysfunctions of the Black Community and it's negative impact on the lives of Black women (the ones that do a lot to protect and nurture the entire community) Finally a Black author that speaks the truth that so many ignore and won't address.

From disparaging music messages to "cultural norms" that keep Black women in a permanent oppressed and stigmatized state to some tips on how to get the life you deserve this book covers it all. Although the title says it's a guide to having the life and love you deserve, it comes across more as a urgent warning dishing out lots of evidence instead of a precise step-by-step instructions (guide) on how to gain the life you deserve.

phenomenal

this book was definitely an empowering eye opener for sure! I finished ready to take on the world and one of the main messages I take away from this book is reciprocity. Too often black women give away there time and energy for nothing in return and I will no longer be doing that. Thank you Khadijah for all the great messages in this book. You have truly changed my outlook on life. God bless you!

It’s an informative book, but I don’t believe it lives up to the title. This book lays out the “why” with little mention as to “how” black women can move forward. For Black women who are still in a state of slumber in the faux community, this book alongside others should surely wake them up! This book would be perfect for high-school aged black girls, as that’s the typical age range where the unreciprocated obsession with black love begins.

I really enjoyed how the author broke down a lot of trends and thoroughly analyzed what's going on in the Black community. She opened my eyes to some behavior that I never really thought of, but now I'll be using a more critical eye towards the actions of others and especially the media images I am subjected to on a daily basis.
