Daniel Abse CBE FRSL (1923–2014) was a Welsh poet, author, doctor and playwright. He wrote and edited more than sixteen books of poetry, as well as fiction and a range of other publications. His poetry won him many awards. As a medic, he worked in a chest clinic for over 30 years.
Objectively, it seems like a good book. There seems to be a bit of versatility in style and there sees to be a lot an individual can analyse. They combine to give as a decent understanding of who Dannie Abse is. The issue is that a lot of the aren't memorable for me and I skimmed more than I would have liked. It just isn't interesting enough. A minor complain is that I would have liked a warning with Funland. I don't mind reading a fourteen page long poem if I know it's that before going into it. I don't even remember what it's about; I just know that it is really long.
