The quest for a man's soul, the battle for his heart, the war for a world.
Reads R to L (Japanese Style). The quest for a man's soul, the battle for his heart, the war for a world.
After taking the long, long, long way around, Ouri and Olivier are finally ready to board ship and set sail on the way to their destiny. The rest of their journey hasn't been easy, though, and the last leg won't be any different. Sea dragons, deadly spectres, and another glimpse inside the secret history of G are all waiting in the penultimate volume of Gestalt.
We finally get some answers. But again, confusing stuff. Kouga took two completely unrelated stories and cut them together so that it's two pages of this one, two pages of that one, two pages of this one etc. etc. And suddenly, you are totally lost. Also, she jumps from one point in time to another - they are on a ship but you don't know how they got there, and then you are back in the port and you learn how they actually got on the ship but in-between, there's a cut to Ouri's siblings going home... Confusing doesn't even begin to cover it.
I was mildly surprised when it was finally revealed, who Olivier actually was. Though I hoped for... I don't know, something more, something shocking. This didn't have the proper impact.
Finally, we arrive at Gestalt. There were panels of art that took my breath away. Unfortunately, the story is told in a manic, fragmented manner, but enough answers were revealed that I was overall pleased with this volume.
