Rock star, Keifer Zane’s homosexuality was leaked to the tabloids by ‘inside sources’. With the news of his sexual preference came threats and love-sick stalkers. In need of a bodyguard, Keifer’s manager hires Archer Adams, a man that is anything but a rock fan.
Archer enjoys the quiet life. Relaxing at his desert home and listening to the blues are his idea of heaven. Traveling around the country on a bus, pretending to be a rock stars boy-toy, hell. Despite the loud music and long hours on the road, Archer actually likes Keifer. When disturbing gifts begin showing up in Keifer’s private spaces, Archer’s protective instincts kick in.
With their lives being played out in front of thousands of screaming fans, will the bodyguard and the rock star be able to see beyond the limelight to what is real?
Sweet story about bodyguard Archer falling for his client ( shocking, I know! lol) the rock star Kiefer (aka Jimmy). Archer fights it at first, thinking it can't possibility work, but once he goes for it he gives it his all! The bodyguard ' protection' part was a bit weak, I mean, with what's going on you would think, everyone with close access who wanted to work for Kiefer would have to at least have his fingerprints checked out! ? And Archer never checked to see if he was legit!
I also wasn't satisfied with how the Benny situation was handled, or better yet, wasn't handled.
I didn't like Archer's Mom. He's an adult, and they just come over and show up with no real warning, and give him the third degree and then not only put Kiefer on the spot, but then actually follow him to another room ! Nope, no making her a psychologist didn't excuse her lack of boundaries IMO!
Lynne's books in this series always stop just short of what I need them to be. This one was better than some in that department, but it still didn't have enough of the danger or the chase or the tension, etc.
But there were improvements:
The relationship was equal rather than being based on one person taking care of the other. There was no instalove. There were characters that were wonderful who could also be obnoxious, too. There was a character that was awful who also could be nice. The plot was more realistic and less melodramatic than earlier books in the series. The plot didn't depend on earlier books at all, and althought here was continuity, and characters brought back, it wouldn't be necessary to read the earlier ones to enjoy this one. The sex is sweet, although mediocre, and it doesn't overwhelm or feel gratuitous like the one book of hers outside this series that I read where pretty much any scene devolved into sex. Plus, the solution to their issues .
The next one has to be about Raven. He definitely needs his own story even though we don't even see him in this book, just hear about him. Drat, just figured out that he doesn't get his own story until book 6. They're probably giving us more time to learn about his antics. The next book, #4, is about four guys and a woman, just like the previous series that led to this one, and the one book of hers I read not in this series (which I hated). I may skip to number five.
So because of the good things, and because it's got to be better than the next one, I'm rounding up my 3.5 stars to 4. 6
Keifer is a famous gay rock star and he needs protection from a crazy fan....enter Archer. To protect Keifer, Archer (the bodyguard) pretends to be his lover. This ruse quickly becomes pointless because of the speed with which they become actual lovers.
To further complicate the story, Keifer is really Jimmy, and Archer Brandt is really Archer Adams (apparently that was his employer's attempt at creating a "complete false identity" for Archer.
Really?
sigh.
I found this story disappointing. Mainly because my expectations had been set so high with and ..the only other books I have read by this author.
This third book in the series was as enjoyable as the first two. Archer (the lonely bodyguard) and Keifer (the rock star) are a great pair with quite a few initial disagreements.
The emotions between them built slowly and they had a more concrete obstacle to overcome (a stalker). Once they realize what is going on between them there is no stopping them. I loved the photos that were taken at the very beginning of Archer's job as bodyguard/boyfriend. They told everyone who looked at them what was going on - except the two main characters kept ignoring it.
Holy shite this one is good, but again Carol always brings the action, drama and danger into her stories that keeps me suspended and captivating into reading hers every shot. You can bet when one of her books come out I'm jumping to buy them.
Another great story, Carol!
Did I mention I drool over bodyguards and rockstars? I'm a sucker for them LOL Pun intended. :winks:
Great continuation of the Bodyguards in Love series. I held off reading this for who knows why, but it was good...really good...and I loved watching the chemistry build between Jimmy and Archer.
There is a little bit of a mystery and even though I guessed what was going on, it didn't take away from the story in the least.
3.5 out of 5 -- A fun book with steamy scenes and a romance to root for.
What kept it from a clear-cut 4 for me was the overuse of "deep" kisses; and the use of the same plot device used in "Seb's Surrender", wherein the bodyguard leaves his charge/lover alone for a short time (ill-advised), during which time said charge/lover is kidnapped by the man the bodyguard has been worried would find and hurt his charge/lover for much of the book. While in "Seb's Surrender" I could understand the oversight even though I knew could see the kidnapping coming, in "I Love Rock N Roll" it seemed like a more serious error in judgment.
That said, I enjoyed the book a lot. The main characters, Archer and Jimmy/Keifer, were sympathetic and clearly into one another, and the Rolling Stone photo shoot--and the way it came up later in the story--was sexy and well done. The writing overall was good, and very little (see: "deep" kisses) jolted me out of the story.
Another fun read from the "Bodyguards in Love" series. I look forward to reading the next.

The best of the "Bodyguards In Love" novels so far. Jimmy and Archer have already started their friendship when the book starts, already know each other enough to know what each prefers in certain situations - food, drink, etc. I like how easy it is in the beginning, how kind of difficult it gets - especially from Archer's point of view - when Jimmy dons the "Keifer Zane" persona, on the road and in performances. Their flirt and retreat play is refreshing and surprisingly without a great deal of drama or angst. The culmination of the stalker was done well and really the person it turned out to be was kind of startling. Not surprising, but then again not exactly the person I was thinking right off that it would be.
Keifer Zane is a client of the protection agency Archer Adams works for. As one of the few bodyguards that actually looks like a groupie with his soul patch and spiked hair, Archer is selected to pose as rocker Zane's boyfriend. Keifer is being stalked by a rabid fan and Archer must ensure his safety, while deterring fans with his status as Keifer's boyfriend. This was an interesting plot and I liked Keifer and Archer. I don't know if I would hire any of these bodyguards to guard my son or husband because it seems like their M.O. is to get with all their clients!
Probably more like a 4 1/2. Oh, this was a sweet read for me - I love rockers and Jimmy/Kiefer was amazing. I fell hard and fast for him, both the smooth, sparkly singer and the laid-back, loving man. He and Archer were fabulous together - firey and loving, determined and caring. Great match up and I loved the plot, too. I think this is my favorite in the series. :)
Still really enjoying this series, but this one didn't quite grab me as much as I had hoped it would. Archer and Jimmy were a good couple, but they just seemed to be lacking a little spark.
Jimmy totally needs to kick that bastard Benny to the curb once and for all, as well as that creepy Kog.
Looking forward to seeing where the next story leads.
This is a sweet one. It was nice to watch the relationship between Archer and Jimmi playout. To be honest there were still some loose ends left but I really enjoyed the story. The two lovers had losts of passions and the rolling stones shoot was just genius in my opinon. I loved how it was used throughout later on. The story is not perfect by any means but it's still a really sweet lovestory.
I loved archer and Jimmy more than I did Jared and seb. I guess it's because I felt more of a connection to these two than the previous couples. So far, each book has been improving steadily in material for me.
I liked it, though I did find the fact Archer didn't bother to check out the new bus driver's credentials a bit obvious. I'd think a background check and fingerprint/DNA sampling would be the first thing a professional would think of so the villian's identity was pretty underwhelming.

I rock star that is stuck with his manager falls in love with his bodyguard. I read this book on one evening after the kids fell asleep, an easy read that held my interest at the time but not something I will remember in the long future. Nice and short.
