This book is somewhat expensive, but it's on my wishlist. I think its whole contents is also available online here, but it would be just so much more convenient to have it on hand, rather than on computer screen.
I had an opportunity to go to this Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit and took it, because I was just thinking recently about how I wanted to learn more about the Eucharistic miracles. I heard one story from a friend back in Latvia... There was a ton of miracles, and I didn't even get to see all of it. It was interesting, but overwhelming; it's like you have to visit it several times. Or you know, get this book ;)
Update: I purchased this book finally, and been perusing it. I actually came across a very recent miracle - in India in 2001! Just 10 years ago. Very cool. (I missed that one in the exhibit, so ti was a surprise.) It made me think of the comments someone made at the exhibition, that these miracles tended to happen when they were needed: during times when the doctrine of Real Presence was under attack in particular. If so, this current century needs its miracles.
However, the introduction to this book rightly emphasizes that the Eucharistic miracle that happens every day in our own parishes, when mass is celebrated, must not be discounted or undervalued.
Also: this book reminded me of the sad sad incident which happened in one of the local parishes (Catholic Student Center/Sacred Heart of Jesus). One day in February a host was discovered stuck in the sleeve of a pew with missalets. I'm thinking of buying an extra copy of the book for that parish, so it could be placed somewhere etc.
The Eucharistic Miracles of the World paperback by the Real Presence Eucharistic Education and Adoration Association is a book version of the an exhibition that presents eucharistic miracles that have taken place throughout the world over centuries. Countries where Eucharistic Miracles occurred include Argentina, Venezuela, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Germany, India, Croatia, Poland, Mexico, Spain, and other locations. All evidence of the Host being the sacred body of the Lord Jesus Christ have been fully researched including one case where the blood that was seeping from the host was tested and found to be AB-. Reading the different reports of the different events is very compelling and will support the faith of devout Catholics and even in two cases, reversed the atheism of one, Andre Frossard. Equally compelling are accounts of Saints who experienced encounters with Christ through the Eucharist. Among these are St. Catherine of Sienna, St. Faustina Kowalska, St. John Bosco, St. Clare of Assisi, St. Mary of Egypt, and St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. Rich with history, researched accounts and gorgeous visuals, it is a journey through faith and hope for all of us living in the world today.
Some of these miracles are hard to believe, and others are irrefutable!!! The irrefutable ones strengthen my faith to help me believe the others that are harder! Particularly amazing are the stones changed when the Body of Christ fell on them, the stairs and corporals stained with the Blood of Christ, and the many consecrated hosts that do not decay! Just amazing!
Reading all of the beautiful accounts of all the Eucharistic miracles increased my own faith and love for the Lord in the Eucharist and belief in His REAL PRESENCE. What a wonderful book!
This book is a "Catalog of the Vatican International Exhibition" of the many verified proofs of the real presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the consecrated Bread and Wine which have occurred throughout the world throughout the centuries. My sister visited part of the exhibition and was awed by it; she gave the book to me as a gift, and I read it over several months. It is truly inspiring for a Catholic believer! I gave the book a 3 rating -- not because of the content -- but because it is a catalog...
I knew of many of these miracles, but learned about many more. I found this book fascinating and especially apropo during this year of The Eucharistic Congress.
