Her mother was a wrestling champion, her father a lightweight world boxing champion, her grandfather the first Japanese to become the world champion of Muay Thai kick boxing--but high school girl Elle doesn't want to fight! She just wants a normal life, but is it possible with such a violent family history?
Rie Takada ( 高田りえ) is a Japanese manga artist. She debuted in 1990 in the 17th issue of the manga anthology magazine Sho-Comi with the series SP girl. She still writes primarily for Sho-Comi, with her serialized works also published in collected volumes by Shogakukan, the company that publishes Sho-Comi.
I DIDNT THINK IT COULD GET WORSE THAN THE FIRST BOOK BUT IT DID OMFG. WHY DOES SHE HAVE A PROBLEM WITG HIM EVERY FIVE SECOND???? LITERALLY FIRST HALF OF TGE BOOK AND THERES RACISM. THE NAME OF THE BLACK GIRLS???? HELLO???? THEY ARE TGE ONLY BLACK CHARACTER IN THE ENTIRE BOOK AND THEY ARE MADE TO BE OBSESSED WITH THE MAYO LOOKING GUY AND DRAWN WITH SUCH POOR REPRESENTATION OF BLACK PEOPLE. Like wtf. Why is the only representation in the book negative and holds stereotypes. There is literally nothing good about this book other than kazuki and some of the art 😭😭😭 THIS IS HOT GARBAGE 🔥
very cute! we see elle's and kazuki's relationship develop more and how they put what they want beside so they can make the other happy. kazuki making elle realise what she wanted wasn't a "normal relationship" but instead a longterm and loving one was really sweet and now i wanna see what happens in the third volume! however, i wish elle had more personality other than her wanting to have a relationship. i also wish she could fight in the ring herself rather than just coach her boyfriend! another thing is when the "dread sisters" appeared. their character designs and personalities were racist. the author drew them as the stereotypes that you'd see in anime and manga, and had personalities which portrayed them in a horrible way, as if they were all like that. i understand this was published over a decade ago but racism should not be excused.
Quick entertaining read. My review of the second volume is similar to the first but I have to mention Ruo again! How does this guy’s brain work? He seduced an underage girl with a disability to get to her brother, that’s scummy behavior and once again the entire thing just got brushed off. At least an apology that shows he knows what he did was wrong will suffice but they just act like it didn’t happen and are one big happy family again?? What?!
Today's post is on Punch! volume 2 by Rie Takada. It is the second volume in her Punch! series. It is 179 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has the main female character Elle looking very cute. The intended reader is someone who likes shojo manga and funny characters. The story is told from third person close of the main character, Elle. There is no foul language, mild sexual content, and mild violence in this manga. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- Elle has first date with the scrappy young street fighter named Kazuki, who has recently started training at her grandfather's renowned gym, but the date may be ruined when she burned her face while cooking. Meanwhile, Elle's fiancé has secretly been dating Kazuki's blind sister in a twisted attempt to get revenge. With his first real boxing match on the line, how will Kazuki react when he finds out?
Review- Elle realizes to herself that she really likes Kazuki. She likes everything about him including his boxing. But of course Ruo is not going to stand by and give up the girl he loves but he is just a jerk about it. He gets one of his crew to investigate Kazuki and discovers his sister. Then when Kazuki finds out Ruo says that he will pay for her surgery if Kazuki will leave Elle and the gym for good. I am pulling for Elle and Kazuki all the way. Kazuki cares about what Elle thinks and how his actions impact her and her life. Ruo is being very childish and when Kazuki's sister punches him in the face, that was nice. Only one more volume left and I am very curious about how Elle is going to end up.
I give this volume a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
The protagonist is too childish for my liking, and I can't understand why she's looking for "normal" so hard... Even the love story doesn't really work for me. I mean, she's trying but he does almost nothing.
Another addicting installment in the Punch! trilogy. Elle and Kazuki are so sweet together, and I hope they get their happily ever after in the last one. I can’t wait!
The heroine basically gives the hero an eating disorder, on purpose, in this volume. Granted, it's a twist on the norm, but I still found it mildly disturbing.
This is a really good fun cool funny silly anime. There is not much boxing going on in the manga at all. The characters are not bad but there is nothing truly there for deep/background for them at all. She wanted a normal life/boyfriend yet she got a boxing/fighting boyfriend/life in the end and she seem happy about it big time so I don't understand what the problem is at all. The art work is amazing big time. Yet is a very very short manga so hard to put any background or deep into the manga at all. They never show who win from the fight at all.
