Το τρίτο βιβλίο της σειράς, όπου αυτή τη φορά ταξιδεύουμε στη Βενετία του 18ου αιώνα. Κάποιες απορίες που είχαμε (εμείς και τα παιδιά) λύνονται, περιπλέκοντας ίσως λίγο περισσότερο την κατάσταση, ενώ ένα πρόσωπο που αναζητούσαμε... ε, ακόμα το αναζητάμε, με άλλο τρόπο αυτή τη φορά!

Έξυπνος τρόπος χρήσης των ονομάτων της ελληνικής μυθολογίας, σίγουρα έχω στο πρόγραμμα να διαβάσω και τα άλλα βιβλία της σειράς!

Niecierpliwie czekam na ten moment, kiedy przejdę do tych tomów, których nie znam. Robię reread głównie dlatego, że byłam przekonana, że nic z tego nie pamiętam, bo czytałam wieki temu, ale okazuje się, że całkiem nieźle kojarzę fabułę! Więc póki co to taki totalny comfort read i odskocznia pomiędzy innymi tytułami :)

My brother (10) and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this together. So much fun, and I loved that the villain keeps winning, which is unexpected for a MG.

We also just realised that most of this series hasn't been translated into English yet, so we're never going to find out all the answers. 😬😬

Sé que me demoré bastante en leerlo, pero es el que más me ha gustado hasta ahora.

Cuando descubrí el tema de los viajes en el tiempo pensé que cada libro sería de un viaje y algo así, como el segundo. Sin embargo, este se trató más sobre descifrar los misterios de Ulysses Moore y el tema de las puertas. De hecho, nos dan bastantes respuestas (algunas que se intuían) y deja abiertas varias interrogantes. Quizá ahora se trate más de los viajes a distintos lugares.

Me gusta mucho el misterio que tiene el libro, el ambiente del pueblo y de sus habitantes. Todo está muy bien elaborado (ojalá que también el final, un buen misterio debe tener un buen final). De todos modos, son como 18 libros así que me queda para rato, lo que en parte me gusta.

Vuelvo a tener problemas con Jason, me agota su personalidad. Ahora, acepto que es bastante real para ser un niño de 12 años (creo), así que es un tema mío, no de que el autor retratara mal al personaje. Julia y Rick me gustan, ambos tienen sus fortalezas, sobre todo Rick que es el listo del grupo. Nestor me encanta y en este libro lo vemos, al fin, dejar un peso sobre sus hombros. Oblivia es como el cliché porque tiene dinero y quiere poder, quizá más adelante podamos ver más detrás de ella. Manfred me da risa y pena.

Espero ponerme a leer el cuarto pronto.

Ta część była lepsza niż poprzednia. Prawda jest taka, że trzeci tom już za mną, a w tej historii minęły dopiero dwa dni. Jednak tyle się dzieje, że wydaje się, jakby minęło znacznie więcej czasu. W końcu dowiadujemy się czegoś więcej o tajemnicy miasteczka Kilmore Cove i ogólnie Wrót Czasu. Nadal jestem zaintrygowana i będę czytać dalej.

Ga terasa bacanya, tahu-tahu sudah halaman terakhir. Makin seru saja.

Petualangan anak-anak ini berlanjut di Kilmore Cove. Mereka mengunjungi orang-orang lokal yang ternyata juga menyimpan misteri tentang Argo Manor.

Dan Nestor akhirnya mau membuka sebuah rahasia kepada anak-anak.

Daan Julia akhirnya percaya kepada hal gaib setelah lagi-lagi menemukan jendela yang terbuka sendiri.

Daaaan lagi-lagi endingnya bikin penasaran.

Lanjutan petualangan Jason dan Julia Covenant serta teman mereka Rick Banner dalam memecahkan misteri Pintu Waktu.

Kali ini ketiga anak tersebut berkeliling kota Kilmore Cove untuk mencari petunjuk. Pertama, mereka pergi ke rumah dr. Bowen, karena Jason yakin, leluhur keluarga Bowen terlibat dalam pembuatan peta misterius tentang pintu waktu.

Kunjungan ke keluarga Bowen mengarahkan mereka ke Gwendaline, penata rambut terkemuka di kota. Tempat dimana semua informasi bisa didapatkan dengan mudah asalkan kau bisa mengajukan pertanyaan yang tepat.

Dari Gwendaline, ketiganya mengarah ke rumah Oblivia Newton, tokoh antagonis kita di buku ini. Namun di tengah jalan, mereka teralihkan oleh Nyonya Biggles dengan masalah kucingnya.

Kunjungan mereka ke rumah Nyonya Biggles memberikan satu petunjuk yang alih-alih membuat misteri ini terpecahkan, malah menjadi semakin ruwet.

Dan banyak lagi yang mereka temukan dari tur sehari mereka di Kilmore Cove. Termasuk tentang keberadaan rumah cermin yang merupakan sebuah mahakarya dari penemu jenius bernama Peter Dedalus.

Ternyata orang bernama Peter ini menyimpan sebuah rahasia tentang Pintu Waktu. Apapun rahasia itu pastilah sangat penting karena Oblivia Newton nekat melakukan apa saja untuk mengejar Peter Dedalus. Dan ketiga petualangan kita tentu saja akan mencari cara juga untuk mengikuti jejak Oblivia Newton.

Berhasilkah? Yah, jawabannya ada di buku berikutnya.

Petualangan anak-anak di buku ini perlahan-lahan semakin seru. Misteri-misteri satu persatu mulai bermunculan. Ada yang terungkap ada yang tidak. Bikin gemes.

Btw, saya reread buku ini setelah sekian purnama. Pesan moral yang saya dapat sedikit berbeda dengan waktu membacanya pertama kali.

Dulu saya terkesan dengan pesan moral tentang bagaimana sebuah penampilan bisa mempengaruhi suasana hati seseorang. Sekarang , saya terkesan dengan bagaimana sikap para pahlawan kita dalam menghadapi kejahatan.

Well, I must say that of the first 3 books of the Ulysses Moore series, this was the one that I read *ahem*- devoured (!) in a single night :) It didn't contain as much action as the 2nd book, but I think it was a good relaxing break in the sequel, so that it wouldn't become too stuffed. It was pretty nice and a light book to read on a blurry or sunny day. Enjoy! :)

Já faz algum tempo desde que li o livro anterior mas foi fácil lembrar o que tinha acontecido, ao ler este livro.
A Casa Dos Espelhos é uma boa continuação desta série cheia de mistério e aventura. Gostei muito de ler mais sobre estes personagens e as suas aventuras. Foram dadas algumas respostas neste livro que levantaram mais perguntas e me deu vontade de pegar logo no livro seguinte.

Bien que ce soit une serie jeunesse, avec comme personnages principaux des enfants de 11 ans, il est tout aussi bien de lire cette serie en tant qu'adulte.

Dans cette saga, les adultes ont un passé lourd en amours perdus, trahisons, espoirs et défaites.

Les enfants sont intelligents, le développement des personnages secondaires est bien développé. Les énigmes sont poussées et laissent au lecteur (jeune comme adulte) le temps de réflexion afin de trouver les réponses des énigmes avant nos protagonistes.

Bref gros coup de coeur ;)

In this book, Jason, Julia, who are twins, and Rick adventure all over their town of Kilmore Cove in England. They are on an adventure to find the doors and keys to time, before Oblivia Newton, who is a rich and greedy, finds them first. It is set in a recent time period, and the kids track one door to an old clock-makers house, which Oblivia Newton is destroying in hopes to find the door, which if opened with a key and stepped through will bring you back to ancient times. In the first book, the kids found one of the numerous doors, and ended up in Egypt.

One thing I enjoyed about the author's writing was that he writes descriptively, which makes you want to keep reading. This book is also an adventure book, which is one of my favorite genres, so it was a page-turner. Another think I liked about the story was how it switched perspectives throughout the story from the kids to Oblivia Newton. Besides how the author is descriptive, I like how his writing forms each character, and shows you what each character is like.

One thing, and probably the only thing, I didn't like about this book was Oblivia Newton, who is such a rude person, and who always gets her way just because she's rich. The only other thing I didn't like was that the book ended.

I would recommend this book to kids in their early to mid-teens who like adventure, and suspense, as well as those same kids who like mystery.

I was really disappointed in the last book of the series, but this one completely redeemed my faith in the storyline.

Julia, Jason and Rick are back along with Nestor, Obliva Newton and everyone else in Kilmore Cove. This time the adventure happens a little closer to home. Now that she has both the Cat key and the Lion key, Oblivia is confident in her growing control of the doors. She hires a demolition company to destroy Peter Dedalus's house just to find the door that she knows is somewhere within. Rick is especially horrified as he knew and liked Peter. Peter was the local clockmaker, and was brilliant at his job. He also happened to be a close friend of Mrs. Moore...

So basically the plot on this one revolves around the kids figuring out who Peter really was, filling in some more clues to the puzzle that is Ulysses Moore, and setting up for the next book in the series. And while it sounds far more dull than the previous book in the series, trust me when I say it is a million times better!

Ik moet toegeven dat ik de eerste twee boeken fijner vond. Er gebeurde in dit boek niet zoveel als bij de twee vorige. Hier en daar had ik zelfs het gevoel dat het zeer langdradig werd voor een kinderboek.
Overigens waren er wel enkele belangrijke elementen die voor het geheel van de serie veel teweeg brachten. Ik ben zeer benieuwd naar boek 4.

Après avoir suivi Jason et Rick en Égypte Antique dans La Boutique des cartes perdues, nous les retrouvons à Kilmore Cove en compagnie de Julia pour ce troisième tome de la saga Ulysse Moore.

Si le précédent roman nous a fait voyager jusqu’au nord de l’Afrique, quelques milliers d’années dans le passé, c’est cette fois-ci le village qui est au cœur de l’intrigue. Cela nous permet de retrouver des personnages (comme Calypso) ou de faire connaissance avec quelques nouveaux (les Bowen, Léonard Minaxo… et surtout Peter Dedalus !)

Faire connaissance est toutefois un grand mot pour ce dernier, puisqu’il n’apparaît pas dans cette histoire. Cela ne l’empêche pas d’être omniprésent du début à la fin, avec la destruction de sa maison par la redoutable Olivia Newton (que décidément rien n’arrête !) ou encore son étrange atelier.

Sans même l’avoir rencontré, cet inventeur de génie attise déjà la curiosité. Il semble capable de concevoir tout et n’importe quoi, mais aussi intelligent qu’il soit, il n’a pas été à l’abri des manipulations de la perfide Olivia. Là où le bât blesse, c’est que j’ai un peu de mal à comprendre pourquoi, après avoir découvert son vrai visage, il lui lègue tout de même toutes ses possessions, permettant ainsi la découverte de la Porte du Temps de la maison aux miroirs par les antagonistes.

Autre petit bémol, mais c’est un défaut auquel on commence à s’habituer, et heureusement, car il est bien parti pour se répéter jusqu’au bout, c’est la capacité prodigieuse des jumeaux Covenant et de leur ami Rick à résoudre les énigmes les plus complexes face auxquelles les adultes ont échoué.

Ce tome n’en est pas moins bon, et même s’il est moins riche en action que ses deux prédécesseurs, il n’en est que plus intéressant. La liste de mystères semble s’allonger et les interrogations se multiplient, ce qui intensifie la volonté du lecteur de connaître le fin mot de l’histoire.

Pour le découvrir, il faudra embarquer pour la suite de l’aventure avec ces trois ingénieux enfants, direction Venise, puisque telle semble être leur prochaine destination. Un voyage que je ne manquerais pour rien au monde !

Setelah kehilangan Peta Killmore Cove di Mesir, Julia, Rick, dan Jason tidak menyerah. Mereka mendatangi rumah dr. Bowen karena Jason ingat dia melihat nama Thomas Bowen di belakang peta itu. Thomas Bowen adalah leluhur dari dr. Bowen. Peta itu dulunya berada di dapur keluarga itu sampai Penelope Moore datang dan menukarnya dengan lukisannya sendiri. Di balik lukisan itu, Julia menemukan sebuah pion unik menteri ditempelkan.

Oblivia memanggil para pekerja untuk menghancurkan sebuah rumah mekanis yang luar biasa milik penemu genius, Peter Dedalus. Peta yang dibawanya rupanya berisi petunjuk tentang letak semua pintu waktu yang ada di Killmore Cove. Dia menghancurkan rumah yang bernama Rumah Cermin itu untuk mencari sebuah pintu yang bisa dibuka oleh kunci singa. Kunci yang dicuri Manfred dari Nestor.

Sementara itu, trio penyelidik kita menemukan sebuah piringan hitam dari kotak catur setelah memecahkan teka-teki dengan pion catur yang ditemukan Julia dari balik lukisan. Piringan hitam itu berisi pengakuan Peter Dedalus bahwa ia yang sudah memberi tahu Oblivia tentang rahasia pintu-pintu waktu itu karena terpikat dengan wanita itu. Peter memutuskan untuk pergi ke balik pintu waktu dan tidak mau kembali lagi demi kabur dari Oblivia yang mengejar rahasia tentang satu pintu yang bisa mengendalikan semua pintu waktu lainnya. Setelah mendengarkan piringan itu, akhirnya Nestor mau terbuka pada Jason, Julia, dan Rick, serta mengakui mereka sebagai tiga penjaga pintu waktu untuk meneruskan tradisi keluarga Moore.

Sebuah kejadian gaib kemudian menuntun Julia untuk menemukan sebuah jurnal berisi catatan tentang Pulau Topeng di Venesia. Mungkin di sanalah Peter Dedalus melarikan diri.

Puzzle di buku ini sulit diikuti cara pemecahannya, terutama puzzle soal jam dinding di rumah Peter. Makanya bintang yang kuberikan hanya 4 dan bukannya 5.

Oh ya, satu lagi. Kalau Peter beneran menyesal, kenapa dia memberikan Rumah Cermin berisi pintu waktu itu pada Oblivia. Percuma dong dia ngasihin kunci singanya ke Ulysses Moore??? Haduuuh.

Dit deel bevat minder actie, minder avontuur, minder cliffhangers. Het leest meer als een roadtrip. Het komt daardoor volwassener over. De speciale aandacht voor de natuur, bijvoorbeeld vogels en de zee, is opmerkelijk.

Er zitten wat fouten in de tekst, en het inspringen bij dialogen klopt niet altijd. Maar het is een boeiend verhaal dat de wereld van Kilmore Cove goed tot leven brengt. Het is tof dat het verhaal zich uitbreidt buiten Villa Argo. Het hele dorp passeert de revue.

Alles gaat verder met de kaart die ze in het tweede deel gevonden hebben, een kaart van Kilmore Cove. Deze kaart is verwerkt in de binnenkant van de cover (spijtig genoeg is die beplakt in het bibliotheekexemplaar dat ik las, waardoor slechts de halve kaart zichtbaar is).

Elk hoofdstuk begint met een detail van die kaart, met een vergrootglas dat een gebouw accentueert. Onderaan staat dan een polaroid van een écht gebouw, niet getekend, duidelijk herkenbaar als het gebouw op de kaart. Soms gaan de personages naar het gebouw in kwestie. Maar dit is niet altijd het geval, en dat is wel spijtig. Deze afbeeldingen dienen vooral om elk speciaal gebouw op de kaart te laten zien, ook al heeft het geen functie in het verhaal. Dat is dus niet consequent. Maar het verhoogt wel de graad van realisme, en geeft je goed het gevoel alsof je zelf in Kilmore Cove rondreist.

I swear this adventure was an absolute blast!
After being wowed by Jason, Rick, and Julia’s time-traveling journey to ancient Egypt in the previous book, The Lost Map, this time I was completely swept away by their discoveries and the layers of mystery they unraveled in Kilmore Cove.

At its core, this third book reveals that Kilmore Cove holds even more doors than we thought—and unfortunately, Oblivia Newton has, or rather stole, the map that shows where those doors are. But Jason, Rick, and Julia’s fiery determination, plus Nestor finally revealing the secret he’s been keeping all this time, helped reignite their fighting spirit.

They’re not defeated. Not even close. In fact, I feel like the real journey is only just beginning!

Also, I have to say—what Oblivia Newton did to the Mirror House? That seriously lit a fire of hatred in me. For real. The way the Mirror House was described in this story was so stunning, I was in awe. If I could see it in real life, my phone gallery would be overflowing with photos of it.

Oh, and let’s not forget—Rick. I’m officially obsessed with the way that kid thinks. I genuinely admire his mindset. Honestly? I wish I could meet Rick’s doppelgänger someday.

I'm starting to think, that nostalgia is not enough to give this book higher rating. I still liked the puzzles and riddles, as well as the whole vibe of the author "finding this manuscript and trying to uncover the story himself", but at the same time the writing style is not my type anymore (maybe I'm too picky sometimes).
The mystery of Kilmore Cove is finally laid in front of our eyes and we can uncover it fully with the kids in the book. I also like Nestor - grumpy, grandpa-like man, who becomes their mentor. Pierdomenico's idea for this book series is still amazing and I'll re-read them all (I think). As a kid I loved these books and they made me love reading so much, that I still do it. Hell, I've read all of them (12 I think) so they had to be good! So now, I'm taking a little break in them to not burn out, but I'll definitely come back.
If you have kids who you want to make read books, I think this (and Percy Jackson) is the series you should give them, instead of the mess that is HP. Pierdomenico Baccalario is too underrated for my liking.

Adoro estos libros por qué tienen un toque de historia de la realidad, desde Egipto en el pasado hasta el presente. Y estoy lista para lo que sigue.

En éste libro ha ganado Julia, aunque tiene miedos e inseguridades cómo todos, vence aquellos miedos y desafíos.

Qué no le dieron más contenido y aparición a la malvada mujer. Tiene un buen toque para el drama y lo necesitaba en éste libro.

Si, pero para esto se requiere leer los anteriores así que algún día .

Qué no dudemos de nuestras capacidades y qué siempre es tener a alguien a lado y de confianza, siempre se requiere ayuda y no dudar pedirla.

PERFECT

Dateng dari buku ke-2 dimana aku suka banget buku itu maka ekspektasiku tinggi. Buku ini memenuhi ekspektasi itu dan melampauinya 😫

Awalnya kukira ga akan se-seru buku ke-2 soalnya mereka cuma menjelajahi Kilmore Cove, ternyata ngga? Seru banget?

Worldbuildingnya bagus, dari beberapa cuplikan kecil yang jadi hint antara hubungan Oblivia Newton-Peter Dedalus sampai akhirnya semuanya diceritakan di akhir cerita.

Ikut sedih pas rumah cermin hancur, ikut seneng pas main trio kita berhasil mecah teka-teki dan masuk tokonya Peter, ikut ngerasa bangga pas Nestor ngasih perlengkapannya Ulysses ke main trio..

Bener-bener rollercoaster of emotion.

it's actually a re-read after 10 years, and i completely forgot how interesting and adventurous this series is until i finish this book again. what a pity by how thin this book is, though i understand the "for kids" labeled. and to think there's 12 books so far telling this story is understandable. i just love how they make this very convincing that i remember young me thinking the doors are real and the emails really happened in real time.

Şimdiye kadarki en iyi kitaptı, her şey biraz daha mantık çerçevesinde yazılmıştı ve karakterler de normal davranmaya başladılar. Ama her şey o kadar yoğun ki... Üçüncü kitabı bitirdim ve daha hikayede iki gün geçti. İKİ GÜN ve ÜÇ KİTAP. Yine de hikayenin ne yöne doğru gideceğini merak ediyorum açıkçası.

Mistero, enigmi, avventura… che belli i libri per ragazzi!
Per il momento questo libro è stato il mio preferito della saga, ma sono solo al terzo, ce ne sono ancora tanti davanti!
Questi libri mi tengono incollata alle pagine, voglio continuamente sapere come va avanti, cosa succede, e anche se la scrittura è semplice, riesce comunque a catturarmi

A trippy and clever entry that delves into the mind-bending logic of time travel. Loved the mystery of the house. Julia also starts to shine more in this one. A little different that the first two in terms of vibe. It has the map of Kilmore Cove at the front of the book, which is a clever way to broke my neck by looking back and forth while reading.
