7 Saving Graces: Living Above the Deadly Sins

Rate this book
Nearly everybody struggles against the same, predictable urges that have plagued human beings since the Garden of Eden. We aspire to rule rather than serve, desire things more than God, resent the successes of others, and run away from the hard things in life. As a result, we suffer unfulfilled lives, lack contentment, and can never seem to get a handle on whats wrong or how to improve our lot. In this powerful book on personal spiritual change, Steve DeNeff unlocks the seven secrets to a transformed life filled with purpose, contentment, and a strong sense of well-being. Keying on the seven most common spiritual problems that we all face--the seven deadly sins--DeNeff points the way toward life transformation by embracing the virtue-filled life of the Spirit. Readers will experience practical life changes as they learn how to cooperate with God--changing what they do as he changes who they are. The book includes a guide for personal or group study.

The author starts the book with Jesus’ question to the man at the pool of Bethesda – Do you want to get well? He ends the book with Jesus’ question to Peter – Do you love me? Both questions must be answered by each one of us. They are particularly pertinent to those who have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and accepted Him as Savior and Lord. With openness and clarity, Steve DeNeff helps us understand why Christians often struggle with the seven deadly sins and discusses how embracing the seven saving graces leads us to wholeness. He takes the reader back to the Garden of Eden and the encounter of Adam and Eve with the serpent. The seven deadly sins are like the serpent that bites and leaves the venom. Left untreated, the venom kills and destroys. When put into practice, the seven saving graces are like administering the antivenin. Are you struggling to live a holy life? This book can help you get on the right track to live above the deadly sins. The book is suited for use in a small group with searching questions in the study guide at the end.

Jesus asked a man by a pool "Do you want to get well"...Deneff asks the same question...

If as a believer you have ever mourned your own sin nature, and longed for the "better" that Christ offered this is a book worth checking out!

Wow! Using scripture and Christian writings spanning the ages, DeNeff helps show how the 7 Deadly Sins are symptoms of our sinful nature and how to fight them. A wonderful book that helped me see the origins of my specific sins and what to seek instead.
