A princess never meant to be heir… A writer never meant to love her…
The Kingdom of Skylock is grieving. A tragic accident took the life of their beloved heir Prince Layton and his two best friends, and all eyes have fallen to his younger sister Princess Amair Skylock, the carefully guarded girl who grew up happy in her brother's shadow, to take his place. And it has landed Theodore Crawford the biggest story ever: the life of the Princess, to introduce her to the people. Theo is invited into the glittering world of the castle, with holes in his socks and a pen in his hand, and meets the royal family as they struggle through grieving their loss, the questions that linger around the deaths, and the sadness still blooming in the Princess. As he breaks down her walls and her story slowly entwines with Theo's, Amair struggles to live up to her beloved late-brother's sense of duty and be the best fit for the crown and her people. But with deep-lurking dangers below the surface and questions of who her allies are, Amair is racing to see if she is able to to protect a crown she never wanted.
T.S. Curtis was born and raised in Northern Alberta, and has also called Vancouver Island home. She has a Joint Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in History and Political Science from the University of Ottawa, which focused largely on the history and effects of colonialism. While completing her degree, she worked in the Canadian Public Service to develop her skills, and a bulk of her work was written during lunch breaks. She is now working in education. When she isn’t working or writing, she spends as much time as she can outdoors, loving hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing in particular, or finding a few peaceful moments to read cuddled with her two cats. Tegwyn Skye is an author who loves writing fiction, and doesn't really find herself in one specific genre, and can't always really tell you where she feels her books fit in to genres. Instead, she writes what she likes and does it purely for her enjoyment. Although fiction is her first love, she also has a great love for poetry and, with the help of mentors throughout high school, began to use it as a kind of solace.
What a heartbreaking and emotional start to what I know will be an amazing series. The best way that I can describe the characters is human, they have flaws and I think it is those flaws that make them so lovable. The book also had incredible representation.

I so excited to follow where Amair and Theo's story takes us next.
What a lovely, heartbreaking, and healing story from a debut novelist! I was lucky to be able to read an ARC of Ink & Crown and dive into this incredible world early on. Part cozy-royal-fantasy and part princess-being-a-badass, the story is so easy to get hooked on. And the amount of research and attention to detail that went into the world-building really shines!
Writers will find a little something of themselves in Theo, and will appreciate greatly what Curtis has to say about the experience and art of writing. Also, there’s lots of queers. chef's kiss👌🏻
I can’t wait to see where the next installment takes us, and I am so proud and so excited to see what Curtis cranks out next (and feel incredibly privileged to have been around so early–thank you, again, for trusting me with your art!) here, a mood board for the ✨vibes✨:
