Ikkad is a full length romance with a guaranteed HEA and no cliffhangers. It can be read as a stand alone. If you like feline aliens who are big pussy cats for their ladies, this series is for you.

💄 I initially quite liked the idea of an influencer FMC that works on her body and has had cosmetic surgery (at least I think she did?), purely because that type of woman is often villainised in most romance. You know, they're just blonde, fake, jealous bitches. Therefore, I was happy to see that trope flipped. Unfortunately, the FMC was completely unlikable:
💄 The MMC was... okay? Mostly? I didn't like him much because
💄 The femdom was nice, there's a bit of switch but not much.
💄 The romance felt flat and unbelievable to me. I couldn't feel the romance or love between them at all. They fight, they bang, then suddenly the MMC has feels for no reason I can see, and then the FMC does too? Aight, I guess.
Stars: 4.5 rounded up to 5 FMC: Anya MMC(s): Ikkad Tropes: Alien planet, forbidden relationship, hurt/comfort, scenting, biting, heat/estrus, barbs, enemies-to-lovers. Reviewer add: pregnancy in epilogue, miscommunication (not between MMC/FMC), sex then love Perspective: Dual Plot or character driven: Both Spice level: 4.5 Burn speed: Fast Can this be read as a stand-alone: Yes, but it's going to make a lot more sense if you've read the whole series. Re-Readability: Yes. Content/Trigger Warnings/Enticements: Yes. This book has a lot more inky toy play than previous books. Consent, as always, triumphs, and they stand their ground when they are not in the mindset for play. There is discussion of heat-induction, drugging, and r*pe (not by the FMC, and not perpetrated by the MMC).
ARC Review.
This book seems to ask the question of the characters, 'What happens when you've given up everything to someone, or something else?' For Ikkad, he's given up everything to be a Royal Guard, to be with the Shahra. For Anya, she's given up everything to be this illusion, to be the influencer.
Prior to this book, Ikkad was not my favorite. In this book, Anya was not my favorite. HOWEVER, goodness, they're both so broken in different ways, and their hurt has been so deeply internalized that I loved them even when I didn't like them.
Anya does start off very xenophobic, especially if you have read the other books in the series, and while she is less xenophobic in this one, there is definitely a prevalent dislike/disrespect for Ardun as a planet and a lack of understanding for Ardun culture. (This does change and I appreciate that we get to see it.)
Ikkad on the other hand, is like one giant raw nerve that is constantly being rubbed and exacerbated, except for when he and Anya flow together. While some of the previous Ardun stories also deal with rejection, Ikkad reacts differently and lashes out at everyone around him. Boy that sounds like a walking red flag, so YMMV, but we also get to see him move past it and we get to see both Anya and Ikkad move past their issues (that are quickly becoming subscriptions) and move past them together and into something sweeter.
This sounds like a painful love story. Ugh this is so deep but this story hit me in my freaking feels.
Other things of note: there's a lot more ink (k purposefully missing) in this story than in previous ones. Consent is always there so that is a big thumbs up from me. Empowerment on both sides is also there, which is another big thumbs up from me.
The sex does come before the love in this one. It's delicious and steamy, and please imagine me chef kissing at my screen for these steamy scenes, okay? Just make sure everything is charged.
Also, I have to say, Shahra. <3 YES.
I'm going to miss the Ardun, but I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of them. (They're also mentioned in the Alien Billionaire's series, and there are some plot drops in this book...)
Anya, the female human lead, has spent years being brash and forthright and pushing her way forward to stand out so that she’ll never be in the position she was in childhood. She is opinionated and proud of it. She’s also furious to be separated from her friends on a foreign planet and being kept “safe” by Ikkad, the male feline humanoid lead, who she doesn’t trust and isn’t happy with.
Ikkad is one of the shahra’s (queen’s) guard/harem and is frustrated with his assignment and most of his life, uncertain why the shahra finds him unsatisfactory. When he finds himself attracted to Anya, he is mortified and hamstrung by his inability to leave her alone due to the risk in their environment whilst he tries to control himself. Desperate, he turns to Anya for her to command him and Anya finds herself liking that a lot…
As they assist the shahra in revealing the anti-human/human traffickers, they find that they might want more…
This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and an awesome ending for the series. I adore this author’s writing and the dynamic between the lead characters was definitely close to my favourite. I enjoyed Anya’s strength and forwardness. I appreciated that she didn’t let other people’s opinions hold her back but I also appreciated how she developed as a character, recognising the selfishness in some of her past attitudes and actions and letting the care she was beginning to feel for Ikkad alter some choices. I empathised with Ikkad’s hurt and frustration, given that he didn’t have all the information surrounding the shahra’s choices. I enjoyed the confidence he began to find as his relationship with Anya developed and the playfulness in him by the end of the story. I deeply enjoyed their intimate play and the way the development of their intimate relationship mirrored the development of the rest of their relationship. I loved the integration of secondary characters and the engagement with previous lead characters from earlier in the series and the joy in the group as a whole by the end.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
Anya is a very sure of herself, social media influencer with an unbending will and little care for others’ opinions. Ikkad is a dominant male with an iron will and resentment toward the Shahra when it comes to his role as an Ardun royal guard. Though dominant, he has a need to serve his female.
Ikkad is given the role of protecting Anya, having to retrieve her after escaping his protection to bring her to the palace for protection.
I found Anya and Ikkad frustrating at times, both enjoying and disliking their personalities and dynamic. However, I their chemistry and new take on the different aspects of their relationship, made for an interesting read . though I mainly enjoy dom male sub female roles, I look forward to more switch play in the future.
I give this book 3.8 stars. I struggled with Anya and Ikkad, at times during the first half of the book, with not much in the way of new plot surrounding the couple. However, their character development further on held my interest and made this an unexpectedly pleasing read.
I received an advanced copy from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.
Anya, the FMC, she is super willed and takes no nonsense. We see from the previous books how much she despised/argued with Ikkad, the MMC. Ikkad is one of the shahra’s guard and is also frustrated with his assignment and thinking that he isn’t satisfactory since he is supposed to be part of a harem (iykyk). When he finds himself attracted to Anya, well things get confusing for him and he gets frustrated. In desperation things get a bit interesting in a dominatrix kind of way ;).
In this “cat” peep world, this series is amazing. I was waiting for this book to come out and it was so worth the wait!!
I loved the dynamic, I loved the writing, and I loved the story overall!
🔥 “Tell me. Tell me to get down on my knees for you. I’ll do it. Tell me you want me to worship your body and I’ll do it. I just need you to tell me what to do.” ~~~ Anya is a famous influencer and not a big fan of the Ardun. And she’s so determined to reunite with her friends and leave the planet as soon as possible. Anya is a fierce, strong and bold woman, who's not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for herself. Even more, she’s such a loyal and supportive friend. I loved her very much and I really loved seeing how much she developed throughout the story!
And Ikkad is one intense Ardun Royal Guard! Being one of the champions in the Gladiator Games, he’s one strong, deadly, loyal and fiercely protective male, dedicated to his service to the Adrun Queen. But, with all the rejection he went through, Ikkad is quite angry and growly, too. Nevertheless, he is a phenomenal male and I adored every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Anya and Ikkad! They definitely didn’t start on the right foot but their attraction was strong right from the start. I loved the constant push and pull and, oh, the tension! Both were kind of broken in their own way but turned out to be exactly what each of them needed to put their broken pieces back together and deal with their past issues. And their chemistry was fantastic. Even though their relationship was forbidden, when they couldn’t resist the need for one another anymore, the passionate moments they shared were off-the-charts hot and filled with all the naughty and kinky (and consensual) delight. Their Femdom/switch dynamic was an absolute perfection. And, yes, toys are your friends. Oh, Ikkad definitely needed to give up control and he surrendered so beautifully! Anya and Ikkad were so perfect for each other and I couldn’t get enough of them!
In addition, the storyline was fantastic. The anti-humans protestors are causing trouble and the Ardun Queen is doing everything she could to protect the humans on the planet. I really liked that we got more of Shahra Fareeda in this story and I’m so happy everything turned out right for her. Even more, with all the tension, suspense, revelations and twists, I was glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, Ikkad is another spectacular story and a phenomenal series finale! It’s filled with danger, action, suspense, drama, blazing hot passion and magnificent characters.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every single page of it!
“He’d see the real Anya beneath the various masks she wore.”
I’m going to begin by saying I’m heartbroken now that I’ve read this book. It’s not because the story is sad, though, it’s because this is the final book in the series and I’m not ready for it to end! I’ve loved every book and can’t imagine not reading any more about these lovely Ardun males.
About this book, what can I say that won’t spoil the story? To be honest, Ikkad was the one I was most looking forward to because he was such a prize jerk in the other books and Anya herself wasn’t the most likable either, especially with her rude remarks about Ardun males. I just knew when these two were forced together there would be tons of sparks and emotions. While I was correct I’ll admit I never saw the direction they would go. Ikkad was nothing, and I mean Nothing like I expected and even Anya managed to surprise me a bit. If I say any more I’ll give the biggest secret away and I refuse to do that. Just believe me when I say, this one’s a keeper!
To end let me say, this book is absolutely not a standalone. It is filled from beginning to end with spoilers for every other book in the series and there are too many references that anyone who hasn’t read the other books would never understand. If you haven’t read the rest of the series then don’t start here. Go back to the beginning. First take the time to read Farrokh, the prequel, to me the hottest of all the gladiators, and get a general background about the games. Then start the series with book one, Amir, my personal favorite. That’s the book the sets the stage for all the others, where the future and present guards and the human women first meet, a moment that changes the future for them all. After Amir read the rest of the books in order and end with Ikkad. Once you’re finished you’ll understand what I’m talking about and be very happy you did. Now I’m going to go mope a bit about the series ending although Ami has hinted this will not be the last time we ever see them. I’m still crossing my fingers we get a book about Sattar’s adorable cousin, Nyco. Bring on more of these gorgeous cat men.
This is the final book in a series of interconnected standalones. You can technically read this on its own, but you'll enjoy it more if you read the previous books before as there is an overarching plot.
Anya is an influencer. She's been very vocal about her dislike of Arduns and their fur. She's trying to find her friend, but is thwarted by Ikkad, who has been sent by the Sharah to protect Anya from the anti-humans. Ikkad is instantly attracted to Anya's scent. Unfortunately, Ikkad was part of last year's games, and he's already taken a vow to be part of the Sharah's harem, so he can't be with Anya. Will Anya's stubbornness keep them apart? Will Ikkad's vow tear what is building between them? Read to find out...
I really loved this book: I read it in one sitting, going to bed at 3am to finish it! With Ikkad having submissive tendencies in the bedroom, I thought I wouldn't be into it, but even though it's not my kink, I still enjoyed it! I like how Anya's character evolved: she was kind of grattung at first, but learned to embrace Arduns and their differences. Anya and Ikkad's relationship started physical, but I liked how it slowly became more... and the epilogue ties up super nicely this awesome series! I recommend this book and this series in general to any sci-fi romance fan, especially if you like the fated mates trope! Read it, you won't regret it! 😁
If you're familiar with this series, we're finally getting Anya and Ikkad's story!! And it's super steamy! Full of angst and tension so thick! It's forbidden love- she's a human social influencer, he's an Ardun Royal Guard and belongs to the queen. Anya has been so caught up and self involved in the hustle of being an influencer. Ikkad is dealing with a lot of quarreling emotions regarding his duty as a royal guard and rejection. Neither of them are expecting to feel the attraction to each other, and while they try so hard to fight it- you can't fight fate! The character development is everything! These 2 go from being single minded and focused on themselves, to putting themselves on the line for each other. Honestly, Anya at the beginning was a little selfish, but Anya at the end?!? Loved her!! My heart melted for Ikkad. He was just so lost at first, you really feel for him and want him to have the love he deserves. And, being that this is the last book in this series - that epilogue!!!! LOVED, LOVED, LOVED!!!
I have truly loved these Ardun males and I am likely to be sniffling (or whining according the hubby but pootle to him) about the ending of this series. There has just been something so captivating about all the different couples and how they have come together. The way that most have been so determined at the start that nothing would make them fall for the human women but they all toppled. While this could be read as a standalone, please don't. You will miss all the litle nuances threaded though and you won't quite get the full transformation of Ikkad in particular. He truly is a lost soul and I just wanted to hug him and tell him that it will all work out. Anya too is putting up a front, most people know that social media doesn't truly represent someone just artfull snapshots and it must be draining to have that pressure on you all the time. They each are so stuck in their own unhappiness that it takes them a while to realise that is not where they want to be. Can they admit that to themselves though?
An epic conclusion to an epic series. Thank you @ami_wright_author for writing these precious stories (and for ARCs), I will always treasure them.
I was sad that the series was coming to an end but the story is the most suitable conclusion to the series.
I enjoyed reading the story and the range of emotions both Ikkad and Anya went through throughout the book.
I was waiting for this pair from the start of the series because of the enemies-to-lovers trope (duh!!). Both the main characters are headstrong and demanding. It was so adorable to watch them fall for each other.
The book had a femdom dynamic but Ikkad was a switch and personally, I loved that more than the normal dom-sub dynamic. Ikkad knew when to serve and when to demand it was a delight to see him and Anya find what they liked and at the same time treat each other with decency.
In all, I enjoyed reading the book, hope you enjoy it too.
I'll keep my review short. This book is banging! This was written to make you blush. That was the effect on me anyway. I can't stop grinning with both embarrassment and amusement at how much I enjoyed the kinks. ✔️Anya and Ikkad: Enemies-to-lovers ✔️Chapter 5 :🔥🥵 - involves licking and punishment 😉 ✔️Chapter 15: her Undies on his mouth, her bullet vibe on his balls...like hmmm🤤 ✔️Chapter 24 Beautiful and happy ending for all the characters; it's like a huge epilogue from Books 1 -5.
I'm going to miss these Ardun hotties.
Warning from the Author: Ikkad contains scenes depicting femdom/BDSM. He's not a sub, he's a switch (someone who acts as both sub and dom), but there are scenes where he is submissive (sort of 😆).
I'm getting my paperback copy. Add to my shelf of Clitterature.
"All they'd wanted was a girl's vacation to spend time to catch up. Somehow they'd ended up in the middle of political intrigue and interstellar hostility." Anya and Ikkad's story takes us through their bickering to their slowly coming together. So much steam. Yet in the background the unrest of the population simmers, along with everpresent danger, secrets, denial, games, feelings of worthlessness, true mates and oh so much steam. This world that Ami has created is so rich in sight, sounds, smells and color. Her characters are so well developed you think you can reach out and touch them. Amy is amazing storyteller. Sadly this is the last book in this series. So, if you haven't read them all, you are in for a treat.
And so begins my descent into monster fudgery! I have attempted other books in the genre before but this is the first that has held my attention with the way the action is written while also containing a compelling plotline that I want to read and know more about the wider world. The male acts of submission are masterfully explored and I hope to see more of this dynamic in future books as the confident and "in charge" personality willfully submitting and opening up a more vulnerable side to themself is something that was really appealing to me in this book. Cannot speak highly enough of this and only wish there were more! (Fingers crossed for future books!)
Okay, so this book was honestly so amazing it doesn’t even need a huge explanation as to why it was. I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE with the characters from the moment I started reading 😭 everything about this book was top notch 👌🏽 the spice? Absolutely spicy 🌶️ the romance and love? Absolutely head over heels worthy 🥹 just stop what you’re doing and GO READ THIS BOOK!
In a matriarch ruled society, Ikkad is used to taking orders, unless is puts someone in danger. Evidently his mate loves to order him around and he’s more than willing to follow her every command. She’s quite the tease, but he’ll do anything to make her happy. And there’s enough danger and action to keep the reader entertained throughout the whole book!
This series has been amazing and this one tied it all together. Ikkad was a royal guard who found his true mate in a human, no the shahra. Anya was a brash outspoken human who fought hard to get and keep things her way. Their story was entertaining with twists. Anya was tough to like for much of the novel but Ikkad’s devotion and their love made it worth it. Truly a good one.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This series is very entertaining and the characters are well written. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Ok so, they are all my favorites! But... This One is just something else... I love how Ikkad is. The switch... OMG it's just heart pounding good. So hot and sexy and a Litlle dark. The perfect mix. Fantastic as Always.
Ikkad is an exciting end to the Forbidden Mates of the Ardun Royal Guard. Unfortunately, Anya, the heroine is selfish, shallow…unlikable for three quarters of the book. This is a detractor for me.
I just love this series! To be a Royal Ardun Guard is becoming more difficult when you are charged with protecting your mate…and it’s not the queen! This one is an enemies to lovers read with a different kind of spicy. Yes, there is punishment involved! I thought this story was well written and full of hot, burn your fingers as you turn the page romance. Download and enjoy ❤️❤️
