The Marriage Contract
Boring. Invisible. Pretty for a plus size girl. Those were all the things I felt about myself, thanks to my chosen career as an accountant and society's depiction of the perfect female. For once, I wanted to be something, no someone, different. So, I booked a trip to Vegas for my birthday. Then, walks in Soul Matthias, treating me and my body as anything but ordinary. He lit a fire inside of me. However, it wasn't real. Player. Bad boy. High risk. That's what the blogs depicted me as. That's what baseball owners banked on to lowball my contract extension. I didn't care about social media, but I definitely cared about my money. I had to get my act together. Then, struts in Alexa Livingston. A breath of fresh air, someone completely different than what I had ever been used to. But what we had wasn't real. It was just a marriage contract. Or was it?

I kinda instantly fell for this.
Other than that third-act breakup which had my eyes rolling - because why do characters not have the capacity to have the most basic conversation - this was adorable and just lovely.

Soul Matthias is a very nice name, I can see why Alexa fell for him. He's caring and so, so funny. Soul goes out of his way to make sure Alexa is doing good, and he lets her buy expensive things with his money which is always welcome.
I have so many funny lines highlighted, I was not expecting this to be that hilarious and YET. Like I was laughing out loud, it was that good. I only wish it was longer, because I haven't had enough of these two, no sir.

This book, these characters consumed me! I needed about 20 more chapters because they were so perfect. The audiobook was beyond chefs kiss perfection. Soul was hella sexy and took my heart. I loved Alexa! I loved that she was fuller figured and that Soul loved all of that!!!

I looooooooved The Marriage Contract! It was such a cute love story. Alexa was a sweet but, inexperience 24 year old accountant who doesn't lead a very exciting life. She decides to celebrate her birthday by herself in Vegas. Soul is a bad boy MLB player trying to fix his image so he can get his contract extended. After a night of drunken shenanigans, Alexa wakes up to find herself married to Mr. BDE Matthias. Their fake marriage does the job, Soul gets his contract extended, and Alexa gets her HEA. These two were good together as a couple. Their chemistry was intense from the moment they met. I love that the storyline was centered around a plus size woman. Our BBWs need love too! I would've love to have some closure on Alexa and her hatin' azz sister. I need to know the root cause of all that hostility Candice had towards Alexa. With her jealous self! The Marriage Contract was a cute, romantic, and sexy love story. It gives you all the Hallmark Movie feels. Read this book ladies. You will not be disappointed!

If this were a movie, I’d definitely watch it for sure! What a perfect match Soul & Alexa turned out to be! Definitely not your typical love story. The fact that they met & married in one day & felt that instant attraction to one another even though Alexa didn’t remember a thing was the perfect opening to a great movie love story 😂! All the characters seemed so real. I can say that I would have had to box my sisters head off, Candice was doing a bit too much hating & I would have had to bring her down a couple notches! Either way, this was a very good book & a perfect love story 😍.

Damn...This Was Such A Cute Story
I absolutely loved how Soul & Alexa were the complete opposite. He was a confident brash athlete and she was a low-key quiet Accountant.... unbeknownst to him, Soul Built up Alexa’s confidence with his admiration for her mind, body and spirit. I really enjoyed the way took pleasure in taking care of His Wife. He affirmed his commitment and love for her by putting his career on hold to go and try an win her back! This was actually one of the few stories I actually read first (Definitely An Audiobook Girl)…Shay is on of four (4) Authors that I will put up an actual book (e-book) for. Hearing this book was amazing for me….I was up well past my normal bedtime listening to this amazing cast. Ms. Wesleigh AS ALWAYS, you & Emmanuel together were Absolutely Amazing 💕📚🎧.

When you read the wrong damn book! 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ I was already in too deep by the time I realized this wasn't Held In Contempt. Oh, well. I still loved me some Alexa and Soul. But, what was up with her sister?! Why so much animosity towards Alexa. I would have loved to know the backstory.

The Real Deal
Another fake marriage/contract marriage that I absolutely adored. This genre is slowly growing on me. This a fast paced whirlwind romance but it didn’t miss out on any of the important stuff. Alexa a very no nonsense accountant wanted to live a little for her 25th birthday. She booked a solo trip to Vegas, got drunk and woke up married to a man whore Major League Baseball player. Soul said man whore needs to clean up his image in order to sign a 300 million dollar contract. He meets Alexa and thinks she’s the answer to his problem. What started as a business deal turned into something real.

Quick, enjoyable read! I loved this novella. Y’all know I love a man heaux being redeemed so I was very much here for Soul Matthias and Alexa too. I was cracking up throughout the book, I love couples being silly with each other before or after sex and those sex scenes were hot. Adding this to my favorites of the year. Great job!

What’s not to love about a two piece spicy marriage of convenience! Soul and Alexa were hot and heavy! He’s a baseball heaux looking to be reformed and she’s a young woman looking to forget her troubles and live it up in Vegas for her birthday! Like the saying goes… what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, that is unless you wake up married 😩😩! This was a quick read and when your favs Wesleigh and Emmanuel narrate the audio, it’s a win win!

Soul Mathias is an MLB player who needs his image to be cleaned up. Fate would have it that he and Alexa were feeling each other and while he never had marriage on the brain before, there's something about Alexa that has him ready to commit beyond just a fake marriage contract.
I ate this up. Soul had no business being so sexy. If I were Alexa, I would've married him, too. They were too cute together, and it did not take a genius to realize that their connection went beyond Vegas. The narrators made this an even better reading experience because their voices were absolutely on point for both characters! I was cheesing too hard by the time I got to the end of the epilogues!

June 1, 2021I'm in the minority but the reason I didn't finish this book is because there was way too much cursing for my tastes the the entire premise of the female MC waking up after being black out drunk, married and just assuming the sex she had was good based of what the man said didn't sit well with me.

sweet and fun marriage of convenience
What a fun fake relationship/marriage of convenience story. I really liked both Alexa and Soul. They seemed like a good match even though they didn’t know each other.
I was curious about her relationship with her sister Candice. That was a really toxic sister relationship. There had to be a backstory that needed to be explored.
Soul was a good guy, but we didn’t get to meet his family and friends. That’s my only complaint with novellas. The story is just a snap shot in time. This one was satisfying though because both people were willing to give love a chance despite their contract. Nice quick read.

It was an okay read. Some of the verbiage threw me off. I think I’m just not a fan of novellas. I was interested because the character was a plus size woman, but it was just too short for me.

Disappointed
I was expecting a better story. I could've enjoyed this book if the author didn't feel the need the constant use of so many slurs and the "N" word so often. I'm no prude and can cuss like a sailor but this was just too much. Super cliche characters.

Shay Davis is a new to me author and I’m okay with saying that she has found herself a new reader. This read had just the right amount of spice, the readers attention was grabbed from the first page and I appreciated that! I did wish that we learned what her sisters real issue was but that’s mainly because I’m nosy 🤣🤣 it wasn’t important to the stories flow as Soul and Alexa had enough drama between the two of this to keep us occupied 💖. This was a great read you will enjoy!

This is my first book by this author and I loved everything about it

I loved how they both wanted to change their image and fell in love during the process. But I did not like Alexa's sister Candice and really wanted to learn what was wrong with her besides being jealous of her baby sister.

I love marriage of convenience romances & this one started a little different with a drunken night in Vegas but I still enjoyed it. It was sweet, sexy & I loved how the hero teased our heroine to get her out of her shell. Their playful banter made me smile and I could tell that despite how their marriage started they had a strong bond with some amazing chemistry🔥 4 Stars!
