About the Book
Rogelio tells the story of his journey of faith, from a humble farm boy in Cuba to an enterprising young man that had to use all his skills and wits to brave the rough seas, and shifting currents, of the Florida straits to find a new life for himself and his young family.
Rogelio’s story is tightly woven through the events at the onset of the Cuban communist revolution and his imminent persecution by the regime, which led to the terrifying voyage of escaping Cuba in an old broken-down sailboat with 13 other souls, landing on a deserted island without food or water. Despite the adversities and against all odds, Rogelio’s faith kept him strong and led him through this adventure of a lifetime.
He has also published an adaptation of the book in Spanish, “CORRIENTES ADVERSAS; Mi Travesía de Fe Hacia la Libertad.”

After reading "Waiting for snow in Havana" some years ago; a childs experience during the revolutionary days, Shifting Currents gives, I think, a good picture of the situation and communism in Cuba at that time. A "must read" for people who have a "romantic" view of the revolution.
