How to be Remarkable

Rate this book
Don’t you love meeting remarkable people?

You know, the kind of person that you exchange a few sentences with and immediately know you’ll be inspired by. You tell your friends about them later, not sure exactly what it was about them that impressed you so much.

I make an effort to surround myself with this kind of person because I’ve gained so much from them in the past. Just by living their lives they make me work harder and push myself to achieve more, to be happier, to live a fuller, richer life.

Over the years I’ve picked up a lot of useful pieces of advice from these people, while at the same time observing and trying to figure out what makes them tick. I’ve worked to apply many of these same lessons to my own life and have seen very positive changes as a result.

I wrote this book to share some of these tidbits of knowledge with everyone because I firmly believe that if the world has more inspiring, ambitious and remarkable people we’ll all be a lot better off.

I know what you're thinking - what kind of arrogant person writes a book with a title like that - and worse, what type of person reads it? But let me assure you, it's nothing as terrible as all that.

Perhaps you have to have read several of Colin's books, as I have, to know he is in earnest, isn't trying to be arrogant, and best of all, delivers a genuinely good book.

The premise is simply that Colin has run into many remarkable people in his life.

"You know, the kind of person that you exchange a few sentences with and immediately know you'll be inspired by. You tell your friends about him/her later, not sure exactly what it was about them that impressed you so much."

He has then taken lessons from those remarkable people and put together a lengthy series of short reflections (about one page) each followed by a quote or two to reinforce the message.

You could easily use each chapter to journal and reflect on and have enough material for over a year.

It was not bad, I think I was expecting something different. It had wonderful snippets from successful people. I enjoyed them, but I don't really know how this will make me remarkable.

Wish I read some reviews before buying this book. Impulse purchases, oh well.

This book is a collection of tips on what the author thinks makes someone remarkable. While some of his points are good, he doesn't go in depth, but skims over them. The bite-sized format of the book doesn't do the book service, besides, some of the tips are just not that useful, or could be synthesized with others into larger concepts, instead of broken into splinters. There are better books on this topic out there.

My friend Jared recommended a free e-book, How to Be Remarkable. Author Colin Wright combines his own experiences with interviews from remarkable people, sharing tips, and tricks to get the most out of life and to be the best version of yourself. It's a quick read, but rewarding - making you reevaluate even the simplest character traits and habits that we take for granted and that can make such better, friendlier, more satisfied people.

This was a great read for some of the basic principles for success in life and most of it contained principles that I already try to follow and believe in about life. I did like the book but I just didn't learn about much as far as new information or ideas.

It is a great book. Filled with many simple ideas that can be very easily included into our daily routines. The thing I liked the most was, that there are "links" to different ideas and other philosophies, that I would have never discovered. Very happy with my purchase.

I'm probably not really the target audience for this, because it all seemed like really obvious common sense to me. Perhaps that's the point.:-)

Really good. It felt like getting 111 solid life advice and makes you want to go out there and do what you love because why not?
