Lillian Hayes Martin is a published author and designer. She writes books, and produces home and garden content for print, video and websites. She also specializes in redesigning kitchens and baths, creating outdoor rooms, and exterior makeovers.

Lillian began her career in television production as a production, prop and styling assistant working her way up the ladder to coordinate national and international ad campaign spots, specializing in underwater photography in South Florida and the Caribbean. She loved the creative process and the challenges required - since you can never tell a director "no". From hiring a DC-3 to transport 8-foot metal letters to a remote island in the Bahamas to having actors kidnapped by pirates, she experienced first hand the true drama of television is behind the scenes and not on the screen.

Relocating to Orlando with her new husband, she tackled her first home renovation. Discovering her talent for reorganizing space and mixing materials, she took industrial sewing and interior design classes and produced two sons. Her husband's job kept relocating the family, so Lillian happily continued purchasing old homes and applying her talents.

She wrote her first book, Room by Room: Kitchens, living in Alabama in the midst of their third major home renovation. Her design style of clean lines, modern vibe and sensibility was well received. She founded her company, Design your Space, which provides drafting, space planning and organization.

After Room by Room: Kitchens was published, she wrote The Business Devotional. Lillian's loved doing research for the book, reading 72 business-related books by or about famous entrepreneurs. She discovered a " Can Do" philosophy, which she explores in the book, uncovering the nuggets of wisdom behind simple quotes from successful business people.

Lillian also works as a project editor for Lowe's Creative Ideas Magazine where she combines her passion for good design, her skills as a writer, and her ability to create beautiful spaces. Her work can be seen at LowesCreativeIdeas.com.

Currently, she lives in Austin, Texas with husband, Adam and her two sons, Max and Ethan and has a new house to redo, but is starting to design clothing.
