March 19, 2021This has to be the fourth (or maybe fifth?) time I read this book. That should say it all, really, for it is the best of books that can be reread and reread again and again.
This time, one particular sentence stuck out to me. It was one I hadn’t noticed before. “Being an author is what you do. It’s not who you are.”
It’s so easy to put our identity in the wrong things. Let’s not do that. Because being a/an [fill in the blank] is what you do. It’s not who you are. If you are a born-again believer, you are in Christ. Nothing less.

AHHHHHH!!!! I LOOVEEEE THIS BOOK!!! Mer’s personality is HILARIOUS!!! There are only 2 kisses at the very end, and not crazy detailed. Mer is a Christian too, and MANY Bible verses are quoted. I really want to own this book!!!

I marked this book up really well for discussion with book club. Wonderful story. Loved the Easter eggs for long term RJG readers with tidbits from other series mixed in. "... he's [God] been working extra hard and long on a hero for me who will surpass my expectations."

No, I feel no regrets about it!!
Truly, Robin's books are like a salve to my soul. I knew I needed a palate cleanser after a not-so-good book, so I turned to my favorite book in Robin's Glenbrooke series.
The Glenbrooke series are marketed as light, clean Christian romance novels, but don't be fooled... They are so much more!
They all have a central theme - one that ties both to the love story and also to the character's spiritual journey with God. My favorite part is that the spiritual truth always supercedes the love story in the sense that the characters' realize that love is wonderful, spine-tingling and a true gift from God BUT that God's love is the true, lasting gift. HIS love is the foundation for everything else in life.
This book's theme is hope. Hope in waiting for love. Hope in the midst of trials. Hope in God's plan for our lives. Hope in what's to come in our eternal lives in Heaven.
Such a heartwarming, funny, and charming book.

OMGOODNESS I love this book!!!!
Meridith has my personality, (AKA a total wacko), has my dream future job, (a book editor at a big publishing company), can act, and does lime green alien face masks😂😂😂 I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! I read it 1 1/2 times in one sitting and finished it (the second time) the moment my eyes opened this morning!!! I am in looooove with this series!!!! ❤️❤️❤️😁😁❤️❤️

Blond and bubbly Meredith Graham has one weakness: movie stars. When she meets mysterious "Jay" at a friend's home, she's struck by how much he resembles one of her favorite celebrity crushes, Jacob Wilde. When she inadvertently discovers that Jay and Jacob are one and the same, she can't help exclaiming -- and drawing a crowd of his fans -- before she realizes that he was attempting to enjoy a bit of anonymity. Meredith fears that she has alienated Jacob for good, but circumstances continue to throw the two together in a variety of wacky scenarios. When Meredith gets the chance to dip her toe into the world of film making and collaborate with Jacob on a project, she struggles with learning to control her emotions, while wondering if he will ever open up and express his.
This cute, funny inspirational romance is a welcome addition to the Glenbrooke series, drawing together two characters who have appeared in previous volumes. While it's not necessary for readers to have read the earlier books, prior knowledge of the series can only add to the reader's enjoyment. Gunn's writing is a cut above other inspirational romances, though this is not her strongest work.

July 2022 reread.
Somehow I don’t think I’ve reread this one since I first read through the series as a teenager. I enjoyed all of the details about Meredith’s job as an acquisitions editor and found the day to day life bits as interesting as the romance. Meredith’s quirkiness bordered on over the top at the beginning of the book but mellowed out and made for some genuinely funny moments towards the end.
I loved this series as a teen and am happy that so many of the books stand up to a reread. While each book is a standalone I enjoy the cameos from previous couples, and that all roads eventually lead to Glenbrook.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. Didn’t realize it was part of a series until I logged it in on here, but honestly so amazing read as a standalone!
As a theater kid, I loved all the acting parts in it, and the ending!!!!!! Agh!!!! SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

Each one of the books in the Glenbrooke series is unique. This one is no exception. Meredith’s story is quite different from the previous ones, but it’s just as good. There are laugh-out-loud scenes as well as tear-worthy moments. I loved it.

Okay, just when I thought I was going to have to power my way through the rest of this series by sheer force of will, I get blindsided with this wonderful book. I couldn't get enough of the characters. I've wanted to experience Jake's story ever since first meeting him a few books ago, and I absolutely want Meri to be my best friend and have decided that we are wacky, kindred spirits. This piece was well paced, had great dialogues, and the superfluous inner-monologues and scene descriptions from earlier novels were rare (thank goodness). Unlike the previous stories, this one captured my emotions and pulled me deeper into the plot.
I have my fingers crossed that the last two books in the series are equally as fun and captivating.

June 1, 2021I read this some months ago, so my review is based on what I remember. This is the first Glenbrooke book I read.
The humorous narrating style makes this book a delightful read. Meredith is a relatable, lively character despite that she and I have many differences. Although some readers may view her as annoying, she’s not pretentious. One of Meredith’s perspectives I disagree with is her view of her single aunt, which didn’t change. This may imply that it’s okay to look down on single people and stereotype them. Other than that, the author incorporated the theme quite well, and it’s not too preachy.
The story can be cheesy and fluffy at times, but it is humorously cheesy and fluffy if that makes a difference to the reader.
I think the ending is quite abrupt and am disappointed that the author did not include Jake’s POV because the blurb appears to hint at it (it could just be me). Furthermore, the blurb seems to reveal the whole story.

"A moment of silence fell on the battlefield of her mind, and then her counterego fired its fastest cannonball. 'Do mere business associates usually leave a grape on your pillow?' "

I love the Glenbrooke series. Robin Jones Gunn is just an amazing storyteller, and I can’t help getting drawn into each of the stories she writes.
This was probably my least favourite of the series so far, however. I found Meredith to be a bit too obsessed with Jacob at times. At some times she seemed to be satisfied to just be a friend to him, and at other times she couldn’t stand not being up close and personal with him. She just seemed to be like an over reactive teenage girl at times. I may or may not have just burned myself with that comment. 🤦🏼♀️
I’ve said this before, and, no doubt, I’ll say it again; Why must authors always use electricity when referring to the attraction between two characters? Don’t even get me started on how the character nearly faints upon feeling the other character’s arm hair. .Sigh.
That being said, I did like the fact it went a bit in to Meredith being a Pastor’s daughter. I could relate to many of the different little details that were presented in that aspect.

This was the first book I read in the Glenbrooke series (though it's the sixth), and it's my favorite! I absolutely adore it! A sweet, non-typical romance set in the present-time. Movie stars and young women searching for the perfect balance. Humorous and fun, Waterfalls made a perfect summer read for me.

I really enjoyed this sweet and amusing Christian romance. The characters were well drawn, and I liked the plot a lot. Also, I truly enjoyed seeing how the protagonist grew not only as a person but as a believer. This series is full of both great characters and great stories where character lessons and spiritual truths are interwoven with the fun plots.

Read this a couple years ago. Found it cheesy and only mildly interesting. The writing gets very fluffy and unrealistic too. It sadly seems this keeps happening with her series.

Shelly Graham's sister Meredith gets her own story in this book, also connecting us with a male character from a previous book in the series. Meri has a lot of good things in her life - a good job that she enjoys, a cute cabin to live in, family nearby - but is also longing for fulfillment of her teenage dreams to marry. She is gregarious and spunky, yet expects to settle down with a man like her pastor father. So when God rocks her world by bringing her face to face with the intriguing up-and-coming actor Jake Wilde, she can't help but wonder if His plans really are bigger and grander than our own.
This one was weaker for me plot-wise and Meri's personality is not one I saw a lot of myself in, but I could understand her deeper feelings and emotional struggles. This was also another one that focuses on God's timing in our lives, something I seem to need a lot of reminding about lately.

Meredith was a talented acquisitions editor looking for wonderful children's books. She became famous because of her association with a movie star named Jacob Wilde.
Meredith shares a picnic lunch with Jake and is smitten. He is so busy with the books and movie script that he does not realize that Meredith is his equal.
There were some hilarious moments in this book. The first time Meredith and Jake meet, she is in the midst of beauty treatments, and another time she is dancing with a Guard Man! I laughed a lot!
The best part about these books is that they realize they need a close relationship with Jesus Christ.
I enjoy the books so much that the time flies by and "poof", I am finished!

Well, this book was a lot more fast pasted then Clouds, for sure. Meri was a fun spunky character. Something I am not-spunky lol.
There was never a dull moment with her, even though I feel like I would have been somewhat as goofy as her. I loved being back in glenbrooke with my gang. And I also loved that Meri was an editor. Being a reader and lover of books, that was cool to read about.
Overall I give this book 4.5/5 ⭐️

Meredith is a delightful heroine, free-spirited but also open to God's maturing her. I love that she lives in a cabin and is an acquisitions editor and cooks fresh pasta. I love that RJG gave Jake such an interesting take on marriage for him to work through rather than creating insta-love (so overdone!). A fun, unexpected book.

I can totally relate to Meredith. I spent time thinking I loved different ones that didn't feel the same way. But Meredith found what was missing, with the story and possibly with Jake. Very well done!

This grew on me a bit, but I stand by my earlier judgement that this one didn't age particularly well. It's super 1990s, but also a sweet love story.

Such a good read. I love a Robin Jones Gunn weaving of the gospel throughout. It was really encouraging.
