The Hidden of Vrohkaria #1

The Hidden Falling

Rate this book
I was hidden.

For years I have been living in secret, in a safe haven called Eridian for wolves and others alike inside The Deadlands.

Hiding from the Highers’ laws and the eyes of the Elites, the Highers’ weapon, I make sure we survive the best we can while we live our simple life.

When we collect a female in need to bring her back to Eridian, it was supposed to go as planned, like any other time.

And it did, until a letter changed it all.

As Alpha of Eridian, I have to keep our home a secret and my pack safe at any cost.

Even if the cost is myself.

With beasts plaguing Vrohkaria, the threat of Eridian being discovered and being brought to the Highers for the crimes we have committed…

We may all fall, and there's no one to catch us.
Especially not the Alpha of the Elites, who may be my downfall and the greatest danger to my heart.

Kelly is a lover of Coffee and alpha-holes.
She has spent many years reading all things romance, and it became a dream to write her own stories along the way.

You can expect darkness with her books, along with explicit and graphic scenes that will either get you hot and bothered or a thirst for revenge.

Either one is a good time.

When Kelly is not writing, she is usually spending time with her family or reading, because who doesn't love to escape into another world then to jump into another book?

Did you say one last chapter? The lies we always tell.

Sometimes it’s complete okay, for some people to not find their happy ending. In fact, this itself seems to be a blessing in disguise.

But who will tell this ladybug that?

How does one come back from that? There’s not enough groveling in existence to make that acceptable.

My heart’s beating like crazy and has been for the last 25% of the book. Intense shit

And what was that cliffhanger? WHAT WAS THAT?
Who allowed this to be the ending? The audacity.

What… A… Book!!!! Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my face over Darius 🫠🫠 He’s a giant jerk face 😤 but I loooooove himmmmm 🙃 who doesn’t love a good alpha hole?

This book had me sucked in and literally going “WTF” right after the dang prologue. 😳 It has really cool world building and history telling of their lore and realm.

Can we talk about the bad ass FMC in this?! She’s such a great combination of fierce warrior and softness. Watching her journey through book 1 was so good and I was in my freaking feelings sooooo much sometimes for this girl. That also put me in my angry rage feels often for Darius too 🤪

The smut ..: 🔥🔥 my goodness the smut 🥵🥵🥵🥵 Darius my man I love to hate but want to bone but love 🫠🫠 Fu*k meeeeeee 💦💦

Loved the side characters, the main characters, the world and the story. It was action packed and had me invested from start to finish.
🖕🏻 about the cliff at the end though! 🤪💖

I can’t wait to get my grabby hands on the next one. All the stars 🙌🏻

There is no coming back from what he did to her. NOTHING. No one would ever be able to love or forgive someone who hurt them like that NO ONE.!

5⭐️ Very original and courageous

Betrayal. Tension. And that ending! 😱 This is not like any of the other popular Romantasy books.

Alpha arrogant male, meets innocent, fierce protector of the weak. He treats her terribly and oh, he’s going to regret it. My jam!

She’s hiding a secret. He’s pigheaded, clinging to the lies he was raised on.
It’s dark, tense, and so original. The plot is intricate, with tons of characters and world building, give it time to marinate. The real momentum hits around chapter 18, and by chapter 20, it takes off. Stick with it, you will be rewarded.

Darius is the arrogant alpha of the elites, soldiers to the “Highers” godlike rulers of a brutal, patriarchal world. Vrohkaria is plagued by monsters, starvation, and cruelty.

Rhea lives off the grid, in a hidden sanctuary for abused women and outcasts, a found family of strength and healing. They actively rescue women, children and anyone in need.

Darius’ whole world belief, is the Highers, and their teachings, and when he stumbles upon their little sanctuary, the story slowly unfolds, in a magnificent way.

Rhea is goodness incarnate an alpha in her own right. Mature, self sufficient, and an amazing FMC. I loved being in her head.

It’s a dual POV (90/10), not a standalone, and the betrayal hits epic levels.
I’m rereading and updating my review because it deserves it. Darius’s modern language jarred me at first, but it serves the story, and makes him even easier to hate early on.
He whips her! 65 times and read your triggers!

Should you read it? YES. TODAY.
The last 30% had me gasping with my hands over my mouth. It’s action packed and unforgettable. It’s an adventure!

The first 25% was 4 stars but the ending makes it worthy of an upgrade.

DNF @ 64%. This wasn’t bad writing and the plot was interesting. My only gripe with it was the bullying by the MMC. There would be really good chemistry parts and then the MMC will say super mean things. And the FMC usually just takes it. Occasionally sticking up for herself. After the 3rd time I just had enough. My guess is they will end up together and she’ll make excuses as to why he said the things he said. Just not my cup of tea.

I feel like every character suffer from brain damage. Darius is definitely one of the dumbest ML I’ve ever seen, dude can’t you put 2+2 together? She’s only 28 and he’s blaming a 7 year old kid for smth even adults couldn’t do…. I just feel sorry for Rhea, like how fucking ungrateful people around her can be? Don’t let me start on Kade. THE AUDACITY of this asshole, 18 is not a kid, just use your brain a little if you have it.

Still liked the book though.

RATING: 5 'Wolf' HEARTS!

The Hidden Falling is paranormal romance at its finest, the dark elements uncompromising in their approach so we feel every raw pain and hurt, continuously kept hovering on the edge of uncertainty from beginning to end.

Rhea is a beautiful combination of strength and vulnerability, while Darius is the embodiment of alpha-hole, an emotional vault riding tandem with his duty and honour. The relationship between the two, in this first instalment, is a true enemies to lovers romance, the realism of the animosity between our hero and heroine gloriously straddling the line between cruel and carnal, both fascinating and skating the razor’s edge with every interaction.

Overall, The Hidden Falling is captivating and emotionally taut, the action-packed plot ending on a heart-stopping cliffhanger, leaving us eager to jump into the next instalment immediately.

Rhea is a female alpha of her pack. Her pack is really a sanctuary for abused individuals that come to seek safety. She risks her own life for everyone else’s life and peace, because as the story flows, we learned that she too, has a past and history, herself.
This is one of the most selfless characters, I’ve ever read about. 🥺

But her pack is secret to basically the government of this world, because the abusers of all these pack members are from the higher packs and this “government” called the Highers. When a woman goes missing, they force a group of highly intelligent and highly trained men called the Elites to track her down.
The Alpha of the Elites, Darius and his crew spent two months in extremely dangerous territory with monsters, and the unknown until they come across Rhea… this is where the domino effect starts, and everything crumbles out of her safetynet.

🚩There are definitely dark aspects to the story, and I would highly recommend going on the authors website where she lists all the triggers. 🚩

I was enamored by this story from the first chapter. And ignored all of my daily tasks and mothering duties, Lol!, to read this book. It’s wolf shifters with fated mates, I wouldn’t say it’s a romance, yet, as it is very much in the enemies, part of the enemies to lovers trope… and when I tell you that it is a enemies…. It is horrifically still in the enemies era of the story. Rhea and Darius have a long way to go. And there needs to be some highly intense groveling in the storyline at some point. But the world building is perfection. It’s dark, emotional, this author did not hold back on unsettling topics and deaths.

With all the lies and secrets, corruption, and magical mystery, I adored every moment reading!

I am on pins and needles for the second book!

WHAT.THE.EVER.FLYING.FUCK??? Why for the sake of all that's holy would you give us THAT cliffhanger?????????????? I'm spazing and silently shrieking and jumping up and down on my chair because HOLY FUCKING SHIT I can't wait for A YEAR for the next book!!!!

Witches and shifters and destined mates and Chosen Heirs and abuse and mental trauma and ...ouuffff *deep breath*..... and TITANIC misunderstandings and holy fuck off Ms Cove but you NEED TO BE DUNKED INTO SIBERIAN WATERS for ending the first book like this!!

...Okay, okay, I knew this was going somewhere very bad since the middle of the story, maybe even a bit before that, I was screaming at the FMC to be honest with Darius and the Elites about what had happened to ALL of them, because if someone catches you into one, two, three lies, then when serious shit comes up they will never believe you and you'll be fucked. I mean, come ON!!, everybody with half a brain knows that, so I just couldn't swallow it! But damn, at least I thought at the last moment Darius would realize all the lies of the Highers weren't adding up, that Rhea couldn't have possibly done all that, that he would fucking communicate with his wolf and protect her! But no. No, I was deceived, like Sauron-level-deceived, when I thought that Rhea's heart might not be completely shattered at the end of this installement....

My head is hurting horribly and I have no clue how I'm going to digest all this, but yeah, I recommend this book, just make sure you read it during the weekend, in an isolated place, where you can scream and kick at walls and floorboards. Cheers!

EDIT: changed this to 2 stars because of how stupid some of the characters are. Not even miscommunication but just not communicating any reasoning for decisions and then being mad that the other character doesn’t believe them.

I love some heart wrenching, edge of your seat angst and torture, but this book was too much.

The entire thing is just a girl going through it with a few random cutesy scenes that feel so out of place. The male love interest is actually the worst. She ran away from home because of abuse and then the ML is so emotionally and physically abusive. It’s not cute it’s a GIANT RED FLAG. Idc if they’re “mates” leave his ass

Also the big ending twist/cliff hanger was super predictable.

If you want spoilers lemme know

I was interested in the basic plot so that’s why I finished it but I should have stopped. Extremely poorly written with typos and no sort of plan so all the information is just thrust in there at whatever point with no sort of delicacy, the information that the reader has already been given is often forgotten so it changes or is repeated 20 times. The plot had potential but the execution was terrible.

I read it in one sitting, could not put it down, absolutely had to finish because oh my gosh.

DNF not for me

I think rule number 1 in storytelling is not to annoy the reader. If I ever hear/read the word rogures again I will pull my hair out cause my own huffing and puffing was getting out of hand too. I understand the need to world build but there are cleaner ways to do it, repetition isn't it. I'm always wary of books that are over 450 pages this is why.

I didn't connect with any of the characters especially the MC how exactly is she Alpha? All I read was a lot of don't bother me and posturing, we are even told there are stronger wolves.

Goodness me just how many characters are in this book? I just started skipping over at some point, who cares if character number 100 has blond hair and blue eyes if he's dead 2 pages later.

I will stop my rant and just say this was not for me.

This had such great potential but I just didn’t vibe with the writing style. It was too complicated, meaning if I truly wanted to understand something I had to read it multiple times which just made the experience less fun. The book dragged so much longer than it needed to be but the ending was so drama-filled, finally keeping my attention. And on another note, there is a language in this that has no translation anywhere (as far as I could find) and I don’t think theres actual translations since I searched and couldn’t find any so do with that what you will 😐

This should lose another star for the incorrect usage of ‘there’ instead of ‘they’re’ and ‘your’ instead of ‘you’re’. And you may be like “Zanna, it’s a dark romancy smut, what do you expect?” And all I have to say is that I am not sure dark romance is for me but I will be reading book 2? So just let me focus on my grammatical errors in peace.

I see other reviews saying it was slow and almost a DNF until around chapter 10, this is true. BUT this is sooooo worth continuing on. I finished book 1 and 2 in a DAY. I could not get anything else done today because I HAD to know what was going to happen. Up until 2am, fighting off the one eye open reading, taking the kindle even to switch the laundry. Worth the read! Thanks Booktok

An hour into the audiobook it becomes very clear what kind of story this will be.
The author couldn't figure out a better way than the MMC demonstrating utter political incompetence and/or inexcusable stupidity to even set up the initial meeting/interaction between the FMC and MMC.
The actual plot hasn't even started yet and the author already has to fall back on the cheapest trick in the book. No thanks.

Wow! I don’t know where to start. Darius is just 🫠🫠🫠. Rhea is such an awesome FMC, you literally just root for her every step of the way. I loved this book from start to finish and I literally cannot wait for the next one…

…seriously, I’m teetering on the edge of a cliff here…I need the next book so I can know the stuff and the things. Def pick this up, it doesn’t miss. 💗💗

I was given an ARC of this book and overall really enjoyed it! It started off a little slow for me and took until around chapter 10 for me to really get hooked. I wish there were a couple more chapters from Darius POV! Very interested to see where the series goes and hopefully get more answers after the cliffhanger ending.

Solid start to series.

This is definitely a spicy enemies to lovers romance. Maybe I should amend this, to enemies to enemies despite strong attraction. Love the world building, plus it has spice.
