After she’s betrayed by her con man ex-fiancé, Kyla Bennett’s friends whisk her off to Whisper Creek, a dude ranch staffed by cowboys so hot they dim the Montana sunset. Nursing her broken heart, all Kyla wants to do is hide under a quilt. Then in rides Decker Driscoll. He’s hauling a wagonload of emotional baggage, but the more time they spend together, the more they begin to succumb to an undeniable attraction.
After experiencing personal tragedy, Decker never thought he’d see Big Sky country again. But now that his family’s Whisper Creek property is in deep with a Vegas gambler, Decker’s back for the summer—and spending all his time running from “cowgirls” who come to the dude ranch to score a cowboy. Then he meets Kyla, a kindred spirit who brings on a stampede of protective feelings . . . and a powerful urge to make her stay.
I requested this title from netgalley hoping for a sweet and sexy love story and I'm glad that I did, this country style tale was full of sweet dialogue, interesting drama and stateside cowboys. I was more than happy enough with this romantic soirée and it was likeable enough to keep me turning the pages and here are my 'Accidental Cowgirl' thoughts...
What's it all about? Kyla Bennett has had more than her fair share of heartache and ups and downs. The road to happiness looks like a long way in the future for this heartbroken city chick, so when her friends arrange for a break in the country she doesn't believe that fresh air and cowboys can make much difference to her broken life. Decker Driscoll has returned to his family ranch from the city, the ghosts of his past are hard to forget especially when his families legacy is at risk of being lost forever. So when a heart broken, damaged city girl meets the determined but lost cowboy sparks begin to fly but there's secrets to be revealed, hearts to be mended and a trust to be forged between a duo who never thought a happy future was possible.
What did I like? This book was romance at its sweetest it contained a loveable, damaged hero in the form of a country loving cowboy and a heroine that I'm convinced most readers will be cheering on the sidelines for. It has lots of storyline involved and it also had amusing secondary characters that made me smile which all added to the authors tale of love. The story has depth and emotion and I believed the attraction between the characters. I love to escape in a world that is so different from my own, so a tale of a country ranch filled with handsome cowboys definitely fills that criteria, the story was predictable but written well and it's obvious that the author enjoyed delivering this loved up cowboy tale to her readers.
Why not five? I want to start by saying that I liked this book, lots. It was sweet and undemanding and it held my attention throughout the book. A three star rating for me holds a solid enjoyment factor but there were issues I had that forced me to hold off on the full out five stars. My first issue was the lack of epilogue or rounding off of the storyline I wanted to know more about the couples future and Im fully convinced that the story needed more by way of an ending. Secondly I wanted more of the story to be focused on the couples connection, for me there was sexual chemistry missing from the storyline I would have like more intimate scenes to be described. Thirdly I'm unconvinced that the heroine needed to go through so much drama as the author plotted out, without giving too much away I've never known a character to be involved in as many dramatic circumstances. Nevertheless I never felt like I didn't enjoy this story in fact I read the book in one sitting. So although it can't be crowned with five full out stars it did receive a solid and healthy 3.5 enjoyable stars.
Final thoughts ... All in all 'Accidental cowgirl' ticked my easy peasy romance boxes, it was enjoyable enough for me to leave the last pages with a smile on my face and an eagerness to read more books with a cowboy theme. So if you like your romances sweeter than sweet then don't delay go grab it readers. Enjoy ... Kisses.

This has been on my kindle for ages so I thought I'd give it a try tonight. Started it, noticed a lot of language so checked out past reviews and realize has a little more content than I like in books. Gave up pretty early on.
Content (Based on what little I read and other reviews) Romance: Heavy petting before closed door intimacy Language: A LOT Violence: Moments of peril Source: Netgalley
In quick succession, Kyla's fiancé cheated her and her grandparents of their savings; she was in a serious car accident which left her broken and scarred; and her grandparents who were forced to leave their home passed away.
With the court case behind her and her now ex-fiancé behind bars Kyla's two closest friends drag her to a dude ranch in Montana to help her regroup and plan her next step. One of the first people she meets in Whisper Creek is Decker, the quintessential tall dark and handsome cowboy. She's attracted to him but with so much baggage weighing her down she doesn't trust her judgement.
Decker has his own problems. After his despotic father kicked him out many years earlier, he used the ranch to back his out of control gambling. Now Decker has 30 days to find the money to pay up or his family will lose the ranch.
Nothing happens in Accidental Cowgirl that I haven't seen before, but it's exactly what I want from this genre. A simple story well told, characters I like and nothing too tricky. It's a light and satisfying read and among the better Contemporary Romances I've read recently.
Loved this! Very sweet romance! Decker is back at his family ranch to try and help save it after the death of his father. His father left them with a big debt from his gambling. Kyla and her friends go to stay at the ranch for 2 weeks for a getaway. Kyla is recovering from an awful car accident and from a cheating, lying, fiance who ruined her life. The chemistry between Kyla and Decker is sweet and slow building. I really enjoyed this book - it was a great romance that left me with a smile on my face. Highly recommend!
I must admit, I usually get (and subsequently have come to expect) three things with a Loveswept Romance -
1 - A Great Story.
2 - Brilliant Characters.
3 - Lots of steamy and original sex.
This book delivered on 1 and 2 in spades, but fell a little short on 3 for me. The sexual tension between Decker and Kyla simmers almost from the get-go, so I have to admit I was eagerly awaiting some sexy hay-filled stable action, but it sort of ended before it started. Kind of like opening the chocolate bar, but never quite managing to get a bite.
I am still more than happy to recommend Accidental Cowgirl though as the rest of the story is well developed, the characters and locations beautifully described, and I have not laughed as much over a horse and saddle in a long time.
Looking forward to reading more from Maggie McGiniss, hopefully in the shape of Decker's brother Cole!

This had a cute premise, and I started out enjoying it. Then problems.
MC Kyla is a super-duper victim. She was in a coma from a car accident that also resulted in a broken leg. Her fiancé conned her and her relatives out of their money, and just went to prison. Kyla suffers not only panic attacks, but several snake attacks, and has been thrown from a horse a time or two. The last horsey accident gets her a helicopter ride to the hospital, where she’s unconscious for a while. Oh, it also earned her a broken ankle to go along with her still healing broken femur.
Of course the hero realizes he loves her 4evah with the last injury/scare. Phhhhhhhht!
I love fish out of water stories so Accidental Cowgirl was a perfect read for me. Following a horrible year Kyla’s two best friends convince her to accompany them to a dude ranch in Montana for a much needed mental break and some good old fashion fun. Kyla’s adventure doesn’t get off to the best start and when she’s rescued by Decker, she finds herself having thoughts she wasn’t sure she’d ever think again. While Decker is attracted, he knows the city girl isn’t for him but he soon finds out there’s more to her than meets the eye.
It was easy to enjoy this story; the characters were entertaining and often funny. Some of the adventures Kyla and her friends got into were downright hilarious. The fact that both Kyla and Decker don’t want to admit their mutual attraction made this story even more interesting. There was a lot of sexual tension between these two and their interactions often had them in close contact making anyone around them aware of how they were feeling and what they were thinking.
Both Kyla and Decker were hiding secrets about their lives so even as they grew closer, secrets and innuendo send them reeling. I give a lot of credit to Kyla’s friends and Decker’s family for being there for them and for helping them through the rough patches.
Accidental Cowgirl is a sweet romance and I enjoyed it thoroughly, the author has a crisp and witty writing style and draws you in and makes you feel at home. I loved the characters, the dialog was supreme, and the ending was perfect for this couple.
What a sweet little romance book! This was a perfect light and fluffy read. Decker and Kyla have some drama happening, not to mention baggage that holds them back, but for the most part, this is just a sweet getting to know you romance. The drama isn't too over the top or out of place though. My only complaint is that I wish there would have been an epilogue to let us know how they're doing later and if they saved the ranch.
The Accidental Cowgirl: A Loveswept Contemporary Romance by Maggie McGinnis is a 2013 publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Kyla is trying to recover physically, mentally, and emotionally from: a snake of an ex-fiance who stole from her and her grandparents, a near fatal accident, then the deaths of her grandparents. Now she has trouble sleeping and is prone to debilitating panic attacks. So, her two best friends decide Kyla needs a vacation and time away from everything. So, they sign up to experience life on a dude ranch in Montana. Decker is returning home to Montana after spending his adult life in LA. His father has passed away and the ranch is in trouble financially. So, he plans to spend the summer trying to save the ranch from being taken away because of his father's gambling debts. Decker loves this ranch, loves Montana and would love to live here again, but a very painful memory is here too and Decker bears the responsibilty for it. When three women from Boston show up for a little fun, Decker and his brother show the ladies how to ride a horse, and plan other activities to keep them entertained. Kyla is pleasantly surprised to see Decker is one of the ranch owners. The two met because she had a flat tire on her way to the ranch and a retired cop had her doing all kinds of hilarious sobriety test. Decker stopped and rescued her. Decker can't seem to take his eyes off Kyla and it becomes obvious he is a little smitten with her. One of his ex- girlfriends who has also returned to Montana after trying her hand at being a star, is abnormally jealous. So, life out in Montana is about to become very interesting. First of all , I loved the retired cop. He got things off to a good start and the story stayed on a fast pace all the way through. I also appreciated the two friends that thought so much of Kyla and really wanted to help her recover. Then there was Decker. Ok, I love the flawed, the tormented, the smoking hot cowboy type and Decker was all of those things. Decker has lived his adult life blaming himself for something that wasn't really his fault. He tried to forge a life for himself away from the place he loved most in the world, but he hasn't felt fulfilled. His heart is on the ranch and up until now, he hasn't even been able to visit it. A romance is the last thing on Kyla's mind. She's been burned and has no intention of making that mistake again. But, Decker is mighty hard to resist. So, can a city girl with a whole lot of baggage and a cowboy with a heavy heart find common ground? It may not seem likely in the beginning, and there are many obstacles in their way, but these two people are a lot stronger than they give themselves credit for. They are both survivors and I think that together they can conquer anything. Overall this one is an A.

Kyla just wants to be alone so she can wallow in her guilt and deal with her broken heart, her friends are having none of that. As good friends do they have come up with the perfect place to get away and have some fun, a dude ranch with hot cowboys on staff. On the way there Kyla gets a less than stellar welcome and meets Decker. After his father dies Decker comes back to his families ranch to help out, he left a long time ago after a family tragedy now he is trying to pay back his fathers gambling debts or they will lose the ranch. The two of them have both have their share of hang ups, but they can't fight the physical attraction they feel. Can they get over their issues and take a chance on love? Accidental Cowgirl is a cute love story, the things that Kyla and her friends do and the situations they get themselves into add a bit of humor to the story. Kyla had a lot of emotional problems she was a bottle of nerves and hang ups, but in this story it worked. Decker was a good man, even though he bugged the ever lovin crap out of me at times because he was just plain mean to Kyla, I figured he was doing it because he cared about her and couldn't handle it. I did have a few problems with the wording and phrases in the book, a few of the times things would come across as awkward or to formal and I felt like it broke up the easy flow that was going. There aren't any explicit sex scenes, there is some heavy petting then it fades to black. Overall it's a good enjoyable read, I'd be interested in seeing other characters from this book get their own stories.
Although this book was published in 2013, I listened to the newly released audiobook from Tantor Audio. I enjoyed this sweet romance with a bit of angst thrown in. Kyla Bennett is dealing with a lot of issues when her friends plan a getaway to a guest ranch for Kyla to forget about her problems for awhile. The trip does not start off well for her, with her rental car getting a flat in the middle of nowhere with no spare in the trunk. From her humorous meeting with a crotchety ranger to a near miss with a rattlesnake, Kyla is not sure what her friends have gotten her into. As the story progresses we learn more about Kyla's situation and I felt bad for her. I could understand why she has trust issues. The characters in the story are fun and relatively well developed, including some of the quirky and funny secondary characters who stole the scenes they were in. The romance is sweet. There is some sexual tension, but I liked that there were no sex scenes. The relationship between Kyla and Decker was a bit of instalove, but that was expected in this story. I am looking forward to the next in this series as there is some unfinished business with this couple.
The narration by Kathryn Lynhurst was well done, although I found the pace a bit slow. I would suggest listening to this one at 1.2x speed. Her expression was good as were the female voices, but I found the male voices a bit lacking. Having said that, I often find that an issue when there is only one narrator. Overall, this was a pleasant listening experience and I look forward to listening to the rest of this series.
I'm always in the mood for ranches, and hot cowboys so I was really thrilled to read this book. There may not be steamy, steamy scenes but there are sweet love scenes that I fell in love with. Decker holy hotnes he's just so dreamy, "did you try saying whoa? The horse is trained to stop, you know." You can tell there is attraction there but both Kyla and Decker are hesitant to make a move, but Decker his mind is an intriguing place to be, "Decker tried exceptionally hard not to think of Kyla in that warm, hot shower, or what it might be like to help her wash the mud off her gorgeous, taut little body, but it wasn't working." I mean as the story progresses so doesn't their feelings, "Decker's jeans were already tight. Thinking of other possibilities was definitely not going to help the situation." Decker he's like every woman's wet dream I'm not kidding, "well, let me remind you, then. Proper protocol, when asked to dance by a man a staggeringly handsome and charming as I, is to soon delicately and say yes." Decker he's dedicated to Kyla, "name it. We can fix it. I don't even care what it is. We'll figure it out." I would love to have Cole's story he seems like an interesting character as well.
I received an ARC Courtesy of Netgalley for this review.
Accidental Cowgirl was a very sweet read. When I mean sweet, I mean no sex was described in this story. I missed it a little bit.
This author has an interesting way of writing very pivotal parts in the storyline. Instead of getting the conversations or getting the feelings (sex scenes) she skips to the next chapter. Sometimes this is a good thing, as you don't have to hear history repeated, but sometimes you miss the characters reactions and feelings. I just felt that a recap wasn't enough.
To be honest, it seemed a bit strange that Kyla's best friends who were trying to cheer her up and help here heal, picked a holiday doing something she didn't enjoy. Obviously she got past her problems with horses, but if you were concerned with your best friends mental health why would you put her through more stress, especially her history with PTSD.
On the whole I enjoyed this story. I laughed out loud at Roscoe's antics and I wanted to smack Marcy for her silly and immature behaviour.
The love story took its required twists and turns, but it all works out in the end and isn't that what we're all looking for.
A sweet read and I would recommend to anyone looking for a light, quick read.
This book gave me the warm fuzzies, I immediately connected with Kyla and all of her bad luck. Through in one very hot cowboy and a hilarious cast of unique characters and some characters I loved to hate and it was the perfect book for my mood. Definitely a nice break from the spicier books I’ve been reading, Kyla and Decker are seriously attracted, but have both been burned in their past and that past just keeps popping up and saying Boo!.
The added intrigue of the Whisper Creek ranch being in trouble, to add just the right level of stress to Decker’s life to make pursuing like such a bad idea, and with his very own Malibu Barbie out to ruin the attraction between him and Kyla, it’s definitely a comedy of errors watching these two figure out that they both love each other after only such a short amount of time, which really works for these characters.
I was left with the warm fuzzies because I easily believed in them falling in love that fast, since the love of land and the same values tie them together. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a sweet, sassy romance full of cowboys and a bit of comedy that keeps you guessing on what will go wrong next.
I received the book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review.
I have not read a book by this author before and that is my bad....because really this was such a sweet love story that I devoured it in one sitting and now will be downloading more of this authors books.
This is the story of Kyla who has had more than her fair share of bad luck. Her fiance swindled her out of her money, and broke her heart, she had a bad car accident and broke her leg and spent the better part of a year in rehab and attending the trial that finally puts him in jail. Her friends decide to take her to a "working dude ranch" to relax and catch her breath again...
There she meets Decker, the sexy cowboy who is a architect from Los Angeles. He has come home to try and help save their struggling ranch while battling demons of his own.
What follows is the journey of these 2 discovering each other and learning to let go of their past and move forward together.
This was such a sweet story and kept a permanent grin on my face. I absolutely adored it and highly recommend it...
wow! wow! wow! what a fantastic story! I've just finished this book and I want to go back to page one and read it again! Staggeringly handsome cowboys, breathtaking landscapes, fun, angst, and obviously a wonderful romance. Full review will be posted once I get down from the Montana-induced high. If you love country romance, this is the perfect weekend read.

4 Whispering, Romantic Stars! A Simple, Delicious Story with Fantastic Characters and A Beautiful Backdrop!
The Review: Kyla Bennett is a woman scorned. Tricked and swindled by her ex-fiance and having survived a horrific car accidents thats left her with both physical and emotional damage, she’s convinced by her best friends she needs a vacation. So they book her and themselves a two week holiday at a Dude Ranch in Montana, hoping the clean air and time away from the media chaos of her ex’s scams will help heal her mind, the nightmares and the depression.
Her first day is anything but normal. Driving into Montana solo after her last day in court, she’s pulled over by cop, rescued by a cowboy and nearly attacked by a rattlesnake. She can hardly imagine what the next two weeks will hold.
Decker Driscoll has come home to his family ranch after a ten year stent away in LA where he’s a successful architect. Ten years ago, tragedy struck his family, leaving him drowning in guilt and forced into exile. But now he’s back to help save the one place he calls home by helping his mother and brother run the dude ranch they’ve now turned the horse ranch into.
Staying single and living the hollywood lifestyle were never really Deckers dreams but felt it was what he deserved after the incidents that sent him away. Now that he’s back, he just wants to help his family and go back to exile. Falling in love was definitely never part of the plan.
But Kyla brings out emotions in him he thought long dead and the fact she’s smart, beautiful and haunted only add to the pull she has over him.
Thoughts... Decker and Kyla were perfect together. I absolutely loved their chemistry, the slow build in their romance and the crazy fun flirtations between them. Their conversations were intense, sometimes catty but always entertaining. They both had pasts they were running from but it was beautiful the way they came together despite their trust issues. Kyla had been through so much but she was strong, reliable, helpful, loving and determined. Decker was racked with guilt but he was a solid, manly cowboy through and through. I loved them together.
And I adored all the sub characters. Ma, Cole, Hayley, Jessica, Roscoe and I loved to hate the crazy ex, Marcy who caused more trouble than she was worth. And I thoroughly enjoyed all the antics the girls got up to, the scenery and the bonds between friends and family. This was a perfect lazy-Sunday read that wasn’t to angsty, wasn’t to heart wrenching but was filled with fun and romance.
The Wrap Up: Freak lightning storms, swoon worthy cowboys, best friends forever, campfire cook outs, sleepwalking interlopers, trickster horses, out of control fires, dangers of the land, breathtaking scenery and crazy Malibu Barbie’s are just a few of the wonderful things you’ll find in this book. If you’re looking for a light, enjoyable read, this is it. I'm a big fan of Loveswept and this one is definitely added to my favorites in that collection. The characters were fun, the story was sweet and the romance was amazing. Loved it!
Accidental Cowgirl is my first book Maggie McGinnis book, but it certainly won't be my last. I absolutely loved this book! I loved the characters, the story, EVERYTHING!
Kyla Bennett has suffered so much over the last year she just wants to get away and start fresh. She lost just about everything to her con-man ex-fiance, saw her grandparents lose their beloved ranch and got hurt in a terrible accident. So when her friends try to talk her into a getaway at a ranch in Montana she agrees to give it a try. They secretly hope she'll find a sexy cowboy to give her a tumble. She just hopes to overcome the nightmares and panic attacks.
Decker Driscoll has come home to Whisper Creek. His father kicked him out 10 years ago, but the old man is dead now and his mom and brother need his help. The last thing he and his brother want to be doing is playing cowboy fantasy to a bunch of city women who are looking to add a cowboy to their bed posts, but he'll do anything to help save the ranch that his father has left in serious trouble. His mom doesn't know the half of it and Decker has no idea how he'll save the ranch from falling into the hands of the debt collectors that work for his dad's bookie. And he only has a month to accomplish this before he heads back to his LA life and job. He had no idea how much he had missed the ranch, the horses, his mom and brother until he found himself back in the ranching life. And he had no idea that he could lose his heart to a pretty little guest that seems more haunted than even he is.
This book was such a joy to read from beginning to end. Both Kyla and Decker are haunted by a past that has set out to consume them and it's so sad to read what they've gone through. But, they are blessed with amazing friends and family to help them if they would just allow it. The characters are so fun and witty, even the mean ones are quite entertaining in their devious plots and plans.
I will definitely be looking for more books by the fabulous Maggie McGinnis.
This book was provided to me by NetGalley.com in exchange for my honest review.
You guys know I have a thing for cowboys, right? I'd like a Decker Driscoll for my very own. (sidenote: when I just tried to type "like" I actually typed "lick" first by accident...that would've been correct too...just thought you should know)
I really loved this.
The first taste that we're given of Kyla, with her internal musings/monologue, had me immediately in "like" with her & her cute sense of humour and I think that's a tough thing to do. Going into a book that features romance of any kind, you basically know that you're going to fall in love with the male lead and you just HOPE that the female lead isn't too annoying...but, to have me completely enamoured with her before we've even met her evenutal cowboy casanova? Well done.
I really loved that Accidental Cowgirl wasn't JUST about the connection between Kyla & Decker. Watching Deck & Cole's interactions with Ma was funny & sweet & definitely swoon-worthy...you have to love it when men so obviously adore their mother and let her know it by still acting like the little boys she raised when they're all together, teasing her but also dropping everything to help her fix things at home so that she can keep living her dream.
And, Kyla's friendships with Jess & Hayley...amazing. I think (hope) that's the type of realtionship with girlfriends that MOST girls have so that when the Wes & Marcys of the world come along, there's always somebody that you know will have your back and make you see that things aren't always what they seem. Even if it's in retrospect and they're just helping you get past things that were beyond your control.
I love that conflicts/dramas were dealt with relatively quickly...nothing felt like it was drawn out for way too long. I mean, Kyla took a minute to get past some of her trust issues, and rightfully so, but it never got to a frustrating point like so many other books where, as a reader, you start skimming ahead just to get to the "happily ever after".
Speaking of the "happily ever after", I don't want to spoil anything but, "Where's the kitchen sink?" couldn't have been more perfect. Loved it!
Accidental Cowgirl was a sweet contemporary romance, taking place in the beautiful Montana country side.
Kyla Bennett just had her entire world rocked, everything she thought was true turned out to be a lie. The man she thought she was going to marry was to blame for it all. Kyla’s two best friends decide she needs to get away from it all. That’s how she found herself spending two weeks at Whisper Creek dude ranch. Decker Driscoll is returning to Whisper Creek for the summer after being gone for years. He returns home save the family ranch and to fix the large debut his father left behind. Kyla and Decker fight their growing attraction to each other, both not willing to give in to their feelings. Kyla and Decker are both lacking things in their personal life that the other can help fulfill if they only let the other one.
I found this book to be just okay. There was nothing about it that really hooked me or made me not want to put it down. I felt that the actual romance part of the story took too long to actual begin. Kyla and Decker had hardly talked or even flirted by 50% of the book. As a diehard romantic, I needed that to kick in a little earlier. Kyla and her friends Jess and Hayley were a riot together. Even when stuck in a bad situation they found the humor in it and always had each other’s back. They reminded me a lot of my girlfriends...very entertaining. Overall, Accidental Cowgirl was a sweet romance and a good story, just a little slow moving for my liking.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4. A very pleasant romantic read about a Bostonian lady reeling from a bad car crash and then finding out that her Bernie Madoff type fiancé had been cheating on her and had swindled millions of dollars, some of it from her and her family members. She follows some friends to a dude ranch for some R&R and meets a beautiful cowboy with almost as much baggage as she has. Years ago his deadbeat father had ordered him off the ranch after thinking the cowboy was responsible for the death of his younger sister. This was his first summer back at the ranch, after the death of his father, to help his mother and brother try to save their property from years of neglect and accumulation of debt by the father.
These two broken people had an immediate attraction to each other but both are very wary of any commitments developing from a two week stay at a dude ranch. But, of course, ...
During the course of the two week stay, the poor lady is thrown by her horse, breaks her ankle, suffers smoke inhalation in a spectacular barn fire, gets lost in the woods and is threatened by a rattlesnake. Quite an R&R experience. (On top of this she thinks her GQ cowboy is really engaged to someone else and he is just stringing her along.)
Quite a lot going on but this is a good read and a very satisfying romance to sneak between those terrible, gut wrenching dramatic novels.
A woman running on empty, taking a little trip courtesy of her best friends....this starts the change of a lifetime. Kyla has about had it. She's just gone through hell thanks a man she thought she could trust, someone she loved, someone who ripped out all of her emotions and left her to fend in a situation that's not a good one. Then she meets Decker, and things just might get a little heated.
The story starts out with plenty of humor, and there's many moments like that throughout. This is a sweet read. Very clean. The chemistry between Kyla and Decker is a slow build, but it was a blast reading about two people who don't really need or want love, end up in it anyway.
There are some scenes that were emotional that engaged me, the characters are pretty well developed, but I didn't fully connect with them at times. The writing is good, I enjoy the author's style but I just felt like something was missing.
I do love a good story that brings two people together after they've been through a lot. Kyla and Decker definitely deserved a happy ending and the drama and laughter along the way made for an enjoyable read. I'll be watching out for other titles by this new author.
A unedited copy from Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review
Accidental Cowgirl is a fast paced, sassy romance. It's hot but sweet enough to leave a lot to your imagination. My first Maggie McGinnis read, but she's keeps it witty...extra points for adding the phrase "stranger danger" in a fun way.
Kyla's friends are doing an intervention by insisting on a 2 week vacation from Boston to of all places a dude ranch out west. Her friends think clean air, open spaces, and cowboys will help her heal mentally and physically.
Decker has ranching in blood. He's come home to help his Ma and brother get a new business started to save the family ranch. He's been away from home for years making a life in LA, but he's conflicted and full of regrets. He's been wrangling tender foot tourists all summer, and easily keeping professional...until Kyla.
It's a nice mix of fun, calamity, and tension. Kyla and Decker sizzle, but try to resist the temptation, but a HEA wins out. Entertaining read and I would assume a great set up for a series that I would put on my TBR list.
Kyla is on a much needed vacation with her friends, the vacation isn’t the spa retreat she hoped for, but she is making the best of it. Her friends plan was to take her away and take her mind off what she's been living with for the past year.
Decker is a sexy cowboy, who has been dealt a hard hand in life. He feels like he's responsible for things that were out of his control when he was just a teenager. But years have pasted and he is back on the Ranch to help his Ma and brother, to make this idea of a dude ranch work and to figure out what to do about the debt his father left behind when he died.
The chemistry between Decker and Kyla is smoking hot, but they both have a past they can’t get over and keep fighting the connection that they obviously have between them.
This story is sweet and sexy and a storyline you will fall in love it.

Simply adorable love story. This is the first book I have read by this author received an ARC through NetGalley and I admit it was quite enjoyable. This was a straight boy meets girls, they fight the attraction, he's got baggage, she's got baggage and throw in the typical bitch that wants to stand in their way.
Decker is adorable, the cowboy living in LA for 10 years but aches for his home. Kyla has been screwed over and she doesn't trust any men. They are very cute together, you want them to live happily-ever-after. Highly recommend if you are looking for the sweet love story with minimal sex.
I enjoyed Maggie's writing style, it was funny, cute and well written. Every character in this book has his/her own style and completely likeable, all except one. Every book has to have at least one obnoxious, pushy, fake bitch that you want to smack.
