This is the story of Shadow and her life is not fiction. The struggles she faces are constant for all wolves, especially part wolves like her. But, even though her life is full of a pain and suffering that no human life will ever meet, this lone wolf will never give up, no matter how hard the task. She will fight until the final breath of her life is taken. But with so many dangers lurking in the forest, how can she ever know when that might be . . . ?
A poorly-written book about a wolf-dog who starts off living with humans, and then goes wild. The author obviously knows little about wolves, as errors are abundant. The “her life is not fiction” tag is especially annoying, because it clearly is fiction, and unrealistic fiction at that. The product description on Amazon states that the author “began writing her first draft of Shadow at the age of twelve” and it definitely shows!
A novella told from a wild wolf-dog hybrid's perspective. It consists of several short snippets each detailing a section of her life.
It's decent overall (though it does use the outdated alpha theory), but I personally wish it was just a bit longer (100 pages maybe) and that Shadow had more of a personality. She kind of feels like a blank slate sometimes. Not very distinct character-wise.
