Dr. Max Gerson: Healing the Hopeless

Rate this book
Life story of controversial health care pioneer, Dr. Max Gerson, including his dietary and detox therapies for treating cancer and chronic disease, including his well-known coffee enema. Dr. Gerson was the first medical ecologist, making the connection between health and environment. Born in Germany, he practiced medicine there until 1933 and made his reputation by curing tuberculosis and other degenerative diseases. He cured Dr. Albert Schweitzer's Type wife of lung tuberculosis with his special diet. Moving to the U.S., he wrote a controversial book on the links between nutrition and A Cancer Results of 50 Cases(1958), and practiced medicine until his death in 1959. Undaunted by attacks on his ideas, Dr. Gerson founded nutritional treatment centers in New York State for cancer and other illnesses. The Gerson Institute in San Diego, CA, and the Gerson Clinic in Mexico, both founded by his daughter, Charlotte Gerson, still thrive.

This biography of the great Dr. Max Gerson is written by his grandson. In the beginnings of the book he writes how his mother was not the author, since she was not interested in going back to the troublesome history her father went through. After finishing the book, I can see why. The second half was very disheartening to me, and a perfect reflection of the corruption alive in the American "cancer industry" and how censored natural, effective options are.

Towards the end, when Dr. Gerson's life comes to close, tears came to my eyes. Dr. Gerson was an amazing, insightful healer, who only wanted to help people when they were given no other option from traditional medicine. It's very sad that this man struggled so much to get his message out to those who needed it.

The book ends on a bit of a lighter note, with expansive power of information over the internet, Dr. Gerson's therapies are being shared more and more worldwide. I first learned about him from "The Beautiful Truth" on Netflix. After learning more, I'm intrigued to pick up Dr. Gerson's book, The Cancer Therapy.

This is the most valuable book to read in 2024. Whether or not you're dealing with cancer, the insights from Dr. Gerson's work could aid in healing various degenerative conditions prevalent today: from diabetes and insulin resistance to arthritis and cancer. The book is a well-written, easily understandable resource packed with valuable information. I highly recommend having it on your shelf!

This book is amazing. It is a biography of one of the kindest, best doctors in history and the history that is contained in this is so interesting. I am a nut for alternative cancer research and thus found this fascinating.
