Hyoue Inugami might seem like your typical teenage hunk, but he's a lot older than he looks - 500 years older, to be exact. Long before he became Amane's loyal guardian, this demon dog served another master. He wasn't alone in his duties, however. The sorcerer Kaiso kept two guardians - Hyoue and Zakuro. Now, after centuries of separation, Zakuro is back. The sprightly demon child says he's like nothing more to serve Amane alongside his old friend. But demons, like dogs, can be quite jealous when it comes to affection. When these two beasts start scrapping, who will emerge as leader of the pack?
Mick Takeuchi (竹内未来) has been making manga since 1994. Her breakout series was Ayakashihime Kurenai, published under Kadokawa’s Asuka imprint. In 2000, she began Joou-sama no Inu (Her Majesty’s Dog), her longest and most popular work. It started out as a part-time project, with quarterly chapters, but was so popular that after 2002, it ran monthly and was her sole project for a while.
Takeuchi-sensei has a talent for imitating anime voices. When she’s not busy working, she enjoys wandering around the city.
Volume 1 was a 3 star read for me so I wanted to give volume 2 a chance.
It feels like it’s supposed to be a horror/romance and that’s just not the vibe I’m wanting. The “chapters” feel disconnected to me and it’s not holding my interest for me to want to continue the series.
In this volume things really get crazy when Amane and Hyoue find an injured boy in an alley that seems to know a lot about Hyoue.
This volume really lets us get to know more about Hyoue and where he came from. I also highly enjoyed seeing him jealous it was a lot of fun. The relationship between Hyoue and Amane really grows in this volume and we get to see a lot more of the hilarious situations these two get in that I love so much.
So far a lot of these volumes focus on what Hyoue is feeling so it almost feels as if he is the main character and I personally thought it was a fun new twist to the shoujo genre. Hyoue is definitely one of my favorite manga characters mainly because no matter what they are doing Hyoue turns everything into a fun game.
This was a great addition to the series and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Her Majesty’s Dog Vol 2 _ Chapters 06 => 10 _ Title = Dogfight . . Ch 06
Takako Nishina, Amane’s friend finds out about Amane’s background.
Will Amane have to return home as she agreed ? . . Ch 07
Another Koma oni arrives, Zakuro. He’s an old friend of Hyoue. Now he wants his job.
Will Amane accept? If yes, will she keep or get rid of Hyouue ? . . Ch 08
Wow, Zakuro hates Hyoue and wants him dead.
Can he kill him ? We are still wondering, will Amane accept him and get rid of Hyoue ? . . Ch 09
Zakuro kidnaps Aname, but she’s clueless. He wants her to care for him, not Hyoue. She is so disconnected to her feelings, things are going from bad to worse.
Can she figure things out ? Does she care about either of them ? . . Ch 10
I absolutely adore Hyoue, and like your typical jealous, possessive manga hero, it's easy to find his attitude attractive rather than creepy.
My only wish is more development for Amane, because although I understand WHY she's the way she is, it's incredibly hard to like her. She's constantly pushing away Hyoue, who loves her, but she's idiotically accepting of other people who might actually have bad intentions.
In this volume, Hyoue and Amane meet up with one of Hyoue's 'older brothers' - another kona-ami named Zakuro. Zakuro has his own reasons for leaving the tiny village - he wants to take his revenge on Hyoue for something that happened with their old master - Kaiso-sama, over 5oo years ago.
A bit darker than the first collected manga, though it has a satisfying ending. And the characters are still as engaging as they were on the first read.

I definitely think this second one was more interesting and attention grabbing than the first. I felt like I read this one ten times faster and by the time it ended I was ready for the third. The story has several interesting twists and the relationship between Amane and Hyoue is getting more complicated and more interesting.
Series Review: He Majesty's Dog is a unique and entertaining manga that is well worth the read. It is funny and lighthearted while keeping a series plot. The characters are amazing as they each have very different personalities that work wonderful together. I definitely recommend giving this manga a try!
It okay hopefully it gets better. Its kinda funny that the 500 year old demon acts like a teenage high school girl with his outburst and the girl acts like a naive (clueless) 500 year old demon.
