It's a nice concept, but I can't help but think further on animal behavior. Specifically the bear in the text. Head swaying is a sign of stress from being in an unnatural lifestyle.
It's fun for children to see animals at the zoo, and the good ones do good work in animal conservation, but it's also true that it's not always a great environment for them. Some zoos try to address the mental health of their charges. Other zoos are particularly horrible, not caring about the animals full wellbeing. That bear was not doing something healthy, happy bears would do.
Taking that movement, an stressed movement, and applying religious significance is ignorant at best. The teacher has no idea the bear is not doing something natural and most readers will probably miss it. Presumably the zoo was modeled after a real one and the author observed a bear doing that. I hope the zookeepers noticed and were doing something to help the bear.
