Ringgold Wilmer Lardner was an American sports columnist and short story writer best known for his satirical takes on the sports world, marriage, and the theatre.
Had this book been just "You Know Me Al", "The Big Town" and the short stories, I would have rated it a 5. But the journalism pieces (despite being written in Lardner's fiction style) were just too dated in subject matter to seem relevant today. Still, this is definitely worth reading for any fan of classic American satire.
