This is a really awesome book about Mayan heiroglyphics. There's a lot of information about the Mayan culture with beautiful pictures and photographs throughout. I especially love the example of the alphabet with raised edges so you can do rubbings of the letters. This is great because they are pretty complicated for kids to draw. This is just a really fantastic learning book that my kids enjoyed.

I'm impressed. the information is very dense yet simple. there are recommended activities in the back, so this would be a great book for an elementary teacher who needs a short unit on Mayan hieroglyphics. there is history, as well as a great description of how cryptologists were able to deduce meaning.

Outstanding information, pictures, and presentation of history and the people who discovered the history. Good for adults on information and fun activities for middle school students. Pictures and drawings are very well done. Makes me want to dig deeper into the history of the Mayan civilization and the story of the hieroglyph codebreakers!

I really enjoyed this book! When I was younger, I was very interested in hieroglyphics and found them so fascinating. This book definitely touched my younger reading self. It has wonderful illustrations and is filled with a ton of information about hieroglyphics. This book is recommended for students in grades 3-7.

Well-written, with lots of interesting, chunked information. There are activities to do on the bottom of several pages. For grades 4-8.

This book was pretty awesome. Even as an older woman, I learned a lot about Mayan hieroglyphics. At first, I thought the book was rather busy, but as I looked deeper, it was a wealth of information.

Any book read and rated with a grandchild is special; however, the joy of previewing things we will see during a vacation soon to be taken together is momentous. I highly recommend it.
