This is a fictionalized account of the discovery of the ice age paintings in the caves at Lascaux by a group of school-age boys. Couched within the story are the details of other discoveries of cave art by young people. Content-wise, this was very interesting to my daughter, and she loved it up until the characters started telling stories about other discoveries. The "story within a story" structure was confusing to her, and I found it awkward and hard-to-follow myself. For my other kids, I'll probably save this book until 5th or 6th grade even if they also have a strong interest in cavemen.

Didn’t expect it would be such a good read. Also has beautiful drawings of the cave paintings. Really enjoyed.

The Caves of the Great Hunters is a very in depth book. The book involves a group of boys that find a cave of early man, or cave man. It is kind of boring. It is not that hard to read, but it has some confusing parts in it. I don't really like this book because it talks boring like art and things like that.
