This book is about a mischievous boy named Tom who loves adventures and gets in trouble a lot.
This book was pretty good. I loved how Tom is always getting a whooping or a scolding. I also love how Tom had this idea of being Pirates with his friends and they tried but a couple days later they came back to their town. I learned that you should never be scared to tell the truth of what happened even though you could be risk of danger.
I like this book and it had a lot of exciting parts but also very scary and heart warming.
My 4 year old LOVED this book! I thought it was a great introduction to a classic. It's abridged and has lots of pictures. It took some explaining and follow up questions to make sure he was following the story, but he consistently asked to read it! That's a good sign in my book. :) There is a murder scene, talk of whisky & being drunk, and some other scary/mature themes. We did talk about murder, but kind of skimmed over the others and he didn't really ask questions. We have others from this same Junior Classics series and I am very excited to continue!
I loved this book, I think the plot was very interesting and well played out. I loved the characters with their old 1850s ways of thinking. I liked how Tom was always able to do his own thing and be himself, I liked how Tom could always get his way around doing chores and getting in trouble. I also loved the relationship that tom had with Huck because them working together really made the story move along. I think it was very easy to read because of it's level and because it just focused on the story.
Well written book and great adaptation from the original. These aren’t my favorite just because I don’t really like Tom. But my kids loved the adventures and we had some great conversations about that time period.
I had already read the original Tom Sawyer years ago. When I started a reading challenge with prompts this year, I needed a book with a beverage on the cover. I pulled this from our Little Free Library because there is a cocktail named Tom Sawyer! Thus my book with a beverage! Was fun to read this abridged edition for kids, as a review. I had forgotten some of the adventures!
This book was great fun to read with my kids! Extra nice was that we live so close to where the events in the book take place (yes, I realize it's a fictional story), so we all could picture just where things were happening.
