In 1975, the life of Cornell graduate student T.G. Shass is forever changed when he finds himself in possession of a mysterious and ancient artifact. Unable to remember how he acquired it and powerless to rid himself of it, T.G. is soon shaken not only by the object’s presence, but by a chilling encounter with evil and a jarring journey to another world.
He was the most unlikely of all prophets. His was the most critical of all missions.
Upon his return, T.G. discovers that Earth is no longer the home he knew. His sweetheart, Jenni, is missing, and all evidence indicates that she’s been caught up into the macabre, unnatural realm he’s just departed.
His determination to find Jenni overrides the bitter aftertaste of his otherworldly experience, and T.G. seeks a way to go back. But his second journey holds far more than he imagines. Can T.G. fulfill his key role in God’s plan to defeat the forces of darkness? Or will his imperfect faith lead to destruction as the last days draw to a climactic end?
One of the most powerful christian reads I have ever read. It is about a man who is chosen by God to go to this other planet and play the role of Jesus Christ. It is a beautiful work and worth reading for those who have not.
I can’t even remember the last time I read a “modern”Christian fiction novel , but this one slapped. Sure, some of the theology is a bit on the nose in the narration, but the author makes it clear that’s his intended goal in the afterward. This is a wonderfully descriptive novel with great characters and an exciting narrative that builds effectively. It has some great twists and some honestly lowkey scary moments. This dude knows how to write chilling characters and if I’ve taken away anything from this book, it’s to have an appropriate fear of the Enemy’s schemes. I don’t know if this author wrote anything else, but I’d read it! I recommend this book for anyone over the age of 10 or so. Any younger than that and you’re having some bad dreams!
WOW... WOW....This book is wonderful! Called Christian fiction but is based on so many Christian beliefs. I loved how time travel, two different worlds and finally one solution; can bring so much into light.
This is quite a book, and one that I simply stumbled upon in a second hand store - never having heard of author Shane Johnson. But, does it spin a good story - what that most easily reveals the true Good News, and one that keeps you on the edge of your seats, throughout the last 2/3rds. I salute Shane for this effort, and hope that he has other well-written volumes in store for me, later.
Ended up stopping this after about 100 pages. Couldn't put my finger on it, but it just wasn't working for me. The writing was not bad, but the story just didn't captivate me.
