Ich war Jud Süß: Die Geschichte des Filmstars Ferdinand Marian

Rate this book

About the author

Friedrich Knilli was a German-Austrian media scholar and professor of general literary studies with a focus on media studies at TU Berlin. Originally trained in engineering, psychology, and literature, he became known for his pioneering work on radio drama, notably Das Hörspiel (1961), challenging prevailing definitions of the medium. Knilli received the Adolf-Grimme-Preis in 1971 for his NDR documentary Auf, Sozialisten, schließt die Reihen!. He founded the “Diplom-Medienberatung” program at TU Berlin and researched media representations of Jews, including audience responses to Holocaust – Die Geschichte der Familie Weiß. His biography Ich war Jud Süß informed Oskar Roehler’s 2009 film. Knilli authored numerous books and radio plays, significantly shaping German media theory, analysis, and pedagogy, and remained active in research until his death in Berlin at age 91.
