Plot took an interesting turn and enjoyable ending.

Didn't enjoy the stereotyped gender roles in chapter one...dad too busy reading paper and ig ores son while mom irons clothes and sister is always on the phone. Sister needs to ask boyfriend to take them to fairground.

Cute story for younger readers but some of the words (like Zombies and Dracula) may be a bit scary if explained, I just glossed over them!

I read this book with my 7 year old son. He said the book was ok and he enjoyed it. He liked that the boy made friends with a little ghost.

For readers who aren't at the level of chapter books, this is a great series of books. In this book, Jake, a young boy wants to go to the fair and see some scary stuff. After seeing a rather boring ghost, Jake finds himself trying to help the real ghost get a little meaner. Taking the ghost through the various fair stands, Jake accidently discovers the secret to making the ghost sound mean. Each page is fully illustrated with graphic novelties that will keep the reader entertained. As a bonus, each page has a question for the reader so they can look at the illustration and try to find the answer. A great series for beginner readers!

I liked the little ghost because it was a bit funny. The best part of the story was when Jake saw the little ghost and when the little ghost was the star of the show. It was easy to read, but Mummy had to tell me some words like Dracula and zombies.
